- This is the song Elena always sings, called in the game as the 'Song of Light'. It was first heard when she sung it in Carbo Church, and the theme is used in several other tracks in the game. This song is actually in Portuguese but was sung with Japanese pronunciation. The words 'A Deus' mean 'To God'. Here are the lyrics:
Nascer do sol, palavras, milagre
Água pura, uma lágrima
Paz, luz, amor...
Fruto agreste, respiração, liberdade
Harmonia, vento da benção
Agradecimento...
Tempestade inquietação, escuridão
Luz do sol, alegria, graças a Deus...
The complete translation from the game:
With the morning light of the Word abounds.
A miracle is brought to pass -- pure water.
A teardrop, peace, light, love, sounds
The fruit of the fields breathes ripeness.
The wind of blessing blows across the world.
All is filled with thanksgiving.
Storm and stress and Darkness at last
Turn to the light and joy of a warm day.
O Lord, thank you for your wondrous works.
The translations per word:
Birth of sun, words, miracle
Pure water, a tear
Peace, light, love...
Rural fruit, breath, freedom
Harmony, blessing, wind
Thanks...
Storm, unquiet, darkness
Light of sun, happiness, thanks to God
*Acknowledging BlueLaguna.Net for all the music I've got so far
*Thanks to Noriyuki Iwadare for making beautiful music for Grandia 2
Any time I face a hardship or I'm feeling depressed, this song comes to mind. I heard it when I was a child playing Grandia 2. I would reset the game just to hear Elena sing it over and over (I attribute that to why I know the lyrics by heart LOL) I'm so glad the creators of this game took so much time to develop the music and atmosphere of this game. Though it's old; I feel like it stands against some of the newer titles we have today. Obviously not in terms of graphics and gameplay... but...story, atmosphere, and music? Definitely takes the cake on this game. I love you Grandia 2
after all these years this song still makes so much emotional. Graças a Deus
i have the collection physical on nintendo switch and boy glad that i bought that. or? got it from my girlfriend
in the past, ps2 but garmia tower was mutch and mutch to loude.

Fruit, agreste, breath, freedom
Harmony, blessing wind

Storm, unquiet, darkness
Sunshine, happyness, thanks to God
English Translation.
My wife walked down the aisle to this song, still uses it for her wake up alarm...
Wow. Please tell me you had that moment recorded. :D
dude that is beautiful
A Deus on repeat = the best sleep of your life. I sometimes get the most beautiful and elegant dreams ever as well.
so beautiful. I remember the first time I heard this bonus music CD that comes with the dreamcast version.
Same, been coming back to it ever since it released
Maybe it's on purpose that Kaori Kawasumi pronounces the spanish/portuguese words in a japanese way. I think it gives the song a magical character, like it has an own language especially created for the game! :3
I miss this game so much. It’s still my favorite game to date !!!❤❤❤
Holy cow, this takes me back. I remember watching my dad play this game when I was a little kid, sitting in his lap. I used to hum this song all the time. Man, this song still brings tears. Now it holds a stronger meaning now that I finally see what the words are.
This is possibly one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. It moves me so much.
two ppl must of not played Grandia 2 which is probably one of the best rpgs ever!!!
OH MY GOD! This Game is fantastic! I love it! its my favorite of all! and this song is so beautiful! Thank you for uploading this!
this song still puts me to sleep in a calm peaceful state of mind in 2019
i love grandia!
i have finished it alot of times on computer and ps2
I love this song! Elena is the best
BRINGS BACK SO MANY MEMORIES FOR ME
So peaceful. Makes you have a meditation of things and how to see yourself.
First RPG i've ever beaten, when I was 14. I fell in love with Elena and this song right away.
Elena's song is one od most epic RPG moments.... About two decades later i still come back to it...

I can almost see my memory's when i was young when i remember the good old days....This Is Music...
Am I the only one who thinks this song is eerie and haunting? Like, a cry for help or something? Its almost bittersweet.
Elena, I love you !!!
lol I always got my interest and attention caught when this song is played. I'm getting excited each time they're starting to play this song.
There's something about this song that really calms me. I just keep picturing the same place in my dreams when I hear this song.
I'm Brazillian, my language is portuguese... I played this game, remember this music but as I have never seen a portuguese music in a game I never imagined that this music is portugues, still... it's great.
This song is quite nice...beautiful actually
I like this song a lot. When I played Grandia 2 I keep the save slot that just before this song scene.
yea the dreamcast was one of most beloved systems even more than my ps2 i was deeply hurt wen it fell
that song really touched my heart, it reminded me about my beloved girl dancing in a beautyfull garden full of blossom flowers. I love it
@crestofvalmar123 Well, speaking from just the music stand point. Many of the chords are dissonant and the harmony that comes in only intensifies the dissonance. The violin is what brings a lot of the melancholy, while the harp keeps it light and airy. Like the slight glimmer of hope.
This gives me a strong Chrono Cross vibe...
The beginning kinda sounds like garden of god
thx man i'm actually portuguese and it is kinda difficult to catch what the singer says but since you have the lyrics it makes all sense now.
dc and grandia 2 4life xD
Love this song! this is the Grandia game EVER!!!!
I just heard the song while I was playing and came here to search for the song. it sounded very familiar, yet I couldn't figure it out it was indeed in portuguese, because its pronounce is japanese mixed with portuguese from portugal. I'm brazilian so i'm not used to hear that accent.
One of the best games I have ever played , i wish they would make a follow up of this game or even a HD remaster one day
I agree!
The HD remaster is now available!!! Yay I'm replaying it now and loving the nostalgia. One of the best JRPGs I've ever played
The singer is indeed Japanese... when she sings, she puts some vowels that actually don't exist... that makes some words difficult to understand.
She's got a bit of a European Portuguese accent...
Beautiful song!
Well said...
I agree with that.
Grandia on Dreamcast came with the soundtrack. Dig this track!
Birth of sun, words, miracle
Pure water, a tear
Peace, light, love...
Fruit, agreste, breath, freedom
Harmony, blessing wind
Thanks...
Storm, unquiet, darkness
Sunshine, happyness, thanks to God
the song in english
love this song and grandia 2 on dreamcast
oh dreamcast we had some good times together
I miss the 90's games
CMで流れて10年以上経った今やっとこの曲に辿り着いた
One of those songs that creep up your spine with blissful tingles that tantalize your mind and reverberate through your soul.... at least for me... first time i heard this... it was burned into my being.
Really brings me back
I finished this game a lot of times and NEVER realized Elena was singing in portuguese, and I'm Brazilian! lol Awesome! :D
Hey, guys. I uploaded this song again but with HQ pictures now :)
imo Grandia II was ok, but I will always love the original Grandia more. But this song is so pretty, I always loved hearing Elena sing it in-game =O
ever time i listen to this i start to sing it me and my cousin always sing this together idk y tho probably becuz its awsome ehh i prett like all themes from grandia 2 lol
This is one of the best RPG songs I've ever heard. It's so calming too
@CarlosUVV Thank you! Someone previously called me crazy and didn't understand what I meant.
ahh memory, such awesome song and game.
Yup, works really good. I was surprised that it worked too.
The guy who sold it to me accidently left a copy of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 in there, so that was a plus.
Ah the first rpg I ever played to this day one of my favorites.
This song is beautiful, it reminds me of my first time playing this on my old PC.
I just recently got a Dreamcast from a flea market and i love it, it's sad how a console with so much potential died so early.
i´m portuguese and this is the way the japanese spell portuguese words. exemple? card in portugguese is carta in japanese is kareta. for english speekers this is noosense but anyone speeking portuguese it will make sense
Oh snap! I'm Portuguese, and after all these years I never noticed this music was in Portuguese!
Such a amazing game 😩
@Rafa3l16 Same here. All these years I've been humming this song in my head (specially if I'm sad) only to discover that is sang in my own language. Awesome :)
i had grandia 2 on the dreamcast but it stoped working, thankfully i got a coppy for the ps2. Such a good game
sim realmente soa a portuges ...isso devido a alguns portugeses neste progecto
Lovely... beautiful voice, though I see the Japanese woman has an accent. Gosh, best RPG I've ever played. I used to watch my mom play it, then my dad, when I was too young to remember a lot of the game, but I always pretended to sing like Elena. xD
Now my sister bought a Dreamcast and this game, so we both play on our seperate files. :) totally Epic!
I have this song!! I really want to find the frantic music they have when the 80's hair band screaming starts happening and the electric organ comes in, like at garmia tower when things go bad, its perfect for when i'm late :D
Muito bom, obrigado Game Arts.. (hope I spelled that right)
Such a beautiful song. If you like this check out "Secret Garden", particularly their song "Nocturne".
da kommt man ins träumen!
I love the game and the songs!!
It means "To God". 'A' in Portuguese means 'to' as far as I know. And, the last three words are translated "Thanks to God". And, it's not weird for Grandia II because there was someone considered a God in the game.
a friend lended me the game and oh man it is so fun to play and this song has me by the heart like the persona series in the velvet room
I was scared when I discovered that this song was in Portuguese haha! good times!
The game is easilly finished if you max out everybodys first SP attack like Elenas IMpact Bomb, they give a cancel effect which is godlike ( forgot to mention that these attacks are instant when maxed )
beautiful song
Oh the memories.
Yeah. That is because the singer is Japanese and the lyrics are really Portuguese. I found that out when I was getting the lyrics.
Linda música
Such a great song! Sometimes I just couldn't exit the main menu and start the game, because I was too mesmerized by this song :)
I can't believe the beautiful works that are being created for video games.
This is truly one of those extremely outstanding works.
The words, the music, the perfection that went into this song is INCREDIBLE!
This song is TRULY a Praise to our Creator.
A definite tearjerker too. :)
Joe
Does anyone remember the remixed version of this song? Lol I was way too young too remember the game all that well, but this song's always stuck with me to this day :)
AWESOME!! I LOVE THS GAME! ..and the song is beautiful!
Yes. The song is very nice and adorable! whooh! lol
Have you tried searching online? IIRC, Grandia 2 was only made for Dreamcast and PC (and it's pretty old). I had DC version. I don't think any stores would sell it anymore, try looking on ebay or something.
one of the best games ive played in my childhood. along with Final Fantasy 8 and 9. Lunar Eternal Blue, Tales of Destiny, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Breath of Fire 4, Shadow Hearts Covenant and Legend of Mana. the era of ps1/ps2/dreamcast is probably the best one for games that have the ability to touch your soul. Aint no games like them anymore. its all shooters for rage monkeys nowadays.
man 12 year old me is calling saying buy a dreamcast again lol i miss you sega
the moment i heard this song being sung by elena at the start of the game, i immediately got hooked. immediately i knew that this game, like other games ive played before (namely FF8,9) will always remain with me. one of the best games ever. too bad theres no such games being made nowadays. all obssesed on creating new systems instead on just focusing on the story and developing the characters.
Oh, those two...I have them but cannot be uploaded here nor in Windows Movie Maker because of the video format. I'll try anyway.
Each time i heard this song on the storyline...would pause for like 10 minutes before doing anyhing! It's so sad and nostalgic but at the same time soothing and peaceful!...Either Way This is my favorite soundtrack of this game! And I Never Get Tired of listening to it!
amen to that:D i have it on my DC and played it recently just have to love it:D
many things such as sound-effects are like taken away in the PC and PS2 version , thats why DC is the GREATEST:D:D!!!!
You're very much welcome :)
I'm glad I made you glad.
Man... i this song, so many memories...
T_T
oh yeah and something that didn't apeared on the descriptions is that a Deus = to God
I don't like songs about Gods and i don't like the church because of something that happened in my life. BUT: this song is so beautifull, that it makes me forget all my sorrow...
Grandia = best game ever!
@SeraphinBR I must've overlooked XD. You're such a perfectionist haha. Anyway, when you read the lyrics translation, you can see that 'a Deus' means 'to God'. I'm gonna put it in now.
You can probably download or buy Grandia 2 for PC
You got PWNT, bootstoots.
I love the song and the game's plot; it always seemed completely simple and dumb, just to hide a greater truth after another.
The characters sometimes WERE simple and dumb, tho X3
i also have one, it came with certain copies of the game,
@crestofvalmar123 lol yea forgot to thank you for putting this up. and lol seriously? youre from a filipino? xD finally someone else from my country who actually took a liking to this game :))
i really love this game. i got so far into the game, right near the end, but my pc became corrupted, needed reformatting and i lost all my saved data... :(
the song of final :)
the best song of the game :D
Lovely tune, thanks for the upload :)
