I'm 24 now, and honestly I miss waking up super early on the weekends to play this game when I was a kid. dreaming about the fights, and going on adventures. sure games are great with their graphics today but the stories and just the battle style of games back then were so much more enjoyable. the music.... sigh............... abes odyssey, metal gear solid, grandia, final fantasy 7. all legendary games.... miss those days

It made me remember all of the times I would play Grandia on the weekends during my childhood, and think about adventuring like Justin, Sue, and Feena. It kind of saddens me that we live in an age where we can't just point to some random object in the distance and say "let's go there!" without probably getting into some sort of trouble (what with tresspassing and all that). I do like how some newer games I've played (mainly The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Eps 3 and 4) feature Grandia's IP battle system in someway. I know that the guys at Penny Arcade hold the system in very high regard. All that said, I learned today that GungHo had a poll within the last few months about what older GameArts titles people would like to see re-released. Grandia was on the list of choices along with some of the Lunar titles. Grandia II has been confirmed to be getting a Steam release. Granted it's not the original, but I think that sooner or later we'll see the original Grandia on Steam or even all the current platforms.
+ChrisCtrlGaming definitely not the only one. I'm in music production and engineering in hopes to be a new producer. keep your ears open, i'm definitely going to pay some respects to the old games and bring back my childhood in a new way.
I'd have but one condition for it's english dub, despite how the games dub was a bit lack luster in some parts, I wouldn't have it any other way than the original cast, I know Snazin Smith(Justin) is still in the world of Voice Acting, he voiced Lyner Barsett in Ar Tonelico and Cross Edge.
That soundtrack is so fitting for the character Mullen. It has restraint to a certain amount and is yet so noble and powerful at times. Just an awsome piece of music from a time when soundtracks have been of highest priority in RPGs, next to story of course

This song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, especially the battle music. Especially 3:20 - 3:52. They just don't make music like this anymore, but at least we can still listen to them and be taken over by nostalgia.
Mullen's theme has a special place in my heart! Such a nicely written antagonist! He just wanted to please his father in the end. And how he turned out was amazing! I miss this game and its characters! This song is so full of heart.

He could definitely join at the point where you fight and beat him... still it was at the ending of the game (which could be longer form that point btw!)
+Moon Shade I was certain he was ! it would have been awesome, I love how some of the best RPGs seem do that, have a character which seems to be perfect for your party yet for whatever reason they dont join.
Oh the time back then when I played Grandia.... ....it easily rivals Final Fantasy, what it lacks in grapical comparision (though Grandia's own artstyle itself is very nice and fitting as well) to FF, makes it up more than a 10000 times more than and FF (yeah, even the old ones): Atmosphere, unbelievable likeable and symphatic characters you feel with, you laugh with, you cry with, the epic musical score it has and as already said, the gameplay.
Grandia's Mullen. A true noble- and swordsman at it's finest. Noone will ever reach his level of awesomeness in a video game :] Especially in the end of the game....that just justified it completely.

Grandia is underated when compared to games like Final Fantasy which always gets good ratings and i like both. As time went on Final Fantasy wasn't as good as it's older games and Grandia always had the better looking moves since Grandia 2.
This is the most "EPIC" track in the game. I luv it. I still have gamedatas of this game, where I have to fight Mullen, because I like the music so much XD It´s the best !!! 5/5

A Grandia anime? I was disappointed with "Star Ocean," "Tales of Destiny," and even "Final Fantasy." I can't imagine it would be any better than our nostalgic memories.

I like Final Fantasy, but when i think about Grandia , final fantasy is trash(sorry for those final fantasy fans, no offence xD). What i mean is that in this game i has A LOT of fun, it's like the "tale of" series, there is something i just love about them that final fantasy i just don't get, and everytime i play a final fantasy game i get so annoyed on some way that it just makes me stop playing time by time. But Grandia and other RPGs i just can't stop playing them, even if i lose a lot xD.
Mullen. Not the Anti-Hero we deserved, but the Anti-Hero we needed! Come to think of it, in the end you could see Mullen as a grown up version of Justin, who just had lost his sense of adventure. And in the end he maybe even recognizes what has become ouf of him, what the ultimate price would be if he would continue, so in the final battle against him he's testing Justin's strength and determination to see if Justin's fit to the task he wasn't able to do.
They are controllable characters in the game that can be used during battles. Though, concidering that the Battle System uses "cards", that doesn't mean much.
it is sad, people forget that videogames are works of fiction and as such can be high art, there are two types of high art in videogames, ones with stories that are gripping and filled with intrigue, and ones that are just plain fun, cod satisfies neither, grandia satisfies the first a wole lot and the second quite a bit,and there are some games out there that are pure fun with almost no story to mention, torchlight 2 comes to mind for that.
You can, but you don't have to. There are 27 playable characters in the game, and once you've unlocked 25 of them, you can also unlock him. After that comes Leen. Other playables you couldn't have before are for an example: Pakon Chang Nana Saki Mio Even Darlin, Derlin and Dorlin! There is a complete list on Vast Lands of Grandia.
Todays problem is people are dumber... its a sad fact... As long as you give them mindless Call of Duty slaughter they are happy. Back then, our generation was actually trying to get this wonderful otherworldly feeling, a game with story... something to dive into and submerge. Sadly today this is a rare sight... a very rare sight...
This song is good and Mullen looks cool. Mullen's battle quotes are good when you fight him. "hear my soul cry!" i would prefer to play as Mullen over somebody like Rapp who i don't like the look off and not just because he pics his nose in msot the pictures of him while he talks.

They could have set things up so that you could play even after you're done with the game, now with the possibility to travel all worlds, some bonus worlds and also using some new playables that you could switch between. That would be awesome.

Final Fantasy 7 may have 3d chars... but all of them looked like LEGO figures... and the characters... ok sephiroth IS damn creepy, but he can't mess with the fight against General Baal in his fully grown Gaia form... Heck I wanted Lilly to join the team because she was a former pirate and she can use trays as weapons

Easiest boss in the whole game!! The Clay bird was more of a threat then Mullen!
