That was a great hunting video. Like how one of your first meals is a ribeye. The slide show was amazing. I’m ready to join in and be the third guy in the pictures with my first ram. @@BackcountryAlaska I gotcha, that makes sense, thanks. I had been looking at the STC but after diving into specs, thought that I would prefer a spotter with 65mm objective and more magnification than the STC
what is terrible conservation is guides eliminating populations of sheep all for a profit and for non resident hunters. Not being able to find good populations of sheep after being able to do it for 45 years is whats wrong. Not the resident sport hunter looking to fill the freezer.
You’re right, the over harvesting of sheep via guides is problematic. Nevertheless, an individual harvesting 40 sheep purely for sport is also problematic- especially when sheep numbers are in massive decline. Can you imagine if every Alaskan sheep hunter attempted to harvest a ram every year for 40+ years and actually succeeded? A “me first” attitude is selfish and does not have successive generations in mind.
When I read the title, I thought...what is one man doing taking 40 sheep over a lifetime when it has taken me a lifetime (I am 54 now) to get my first. But after watching this, I simply cannot not like this video. I wish I could give it more than one thumbs up.
Pls tell me that these people eat the meat and use other parts for various reasons. That’s the only way that I could respect someone killing 40 animals for sport, and such beautiful creatures that I’d imagine are somewhat low in population.
Sheep hunting is the greatest challenge in hunting and presently it is an incredible challenge in Alaska. Dall Sheep meat is simply the best tasting wild game meat in North America. Jerry and Tommy are incredible people and are amazingly generous by letting us come along. Jerry is at Peak Performance of experience and ability when it comes to sheep hunting. How did you like the STC spotter?
Did you ever wish you had a 60 power with 65mm objective?
The spotter is okay… larger lense to let more light in for spotting with less daylight would be preferred but this one fits in the pack better
