Something to add: As the 890 and polaris have their docking ports on the side, focus on your fore/aft and vertical alignment, then your lateral. Essentially, whichever side the port is on, do that one last!
@@madeingermany9445 how did you get the sides of the square green? I can't for the life of me figure that one out in my Polaris. I can get everything green but the side brackets of that darn box!
Works exactly the same way, just with the port on the side (the polaris is what made me think to add the pinned comment!) But i'll see if i can jump into EPTU later and get a clip to make a short or something for the polaris specifically (as i have access to one there) :)
@@RobotSpartan in my case, undocking has a 1:10 ratio of success. Most of the time, the docking dots are misaligned with the actual port or the station does not even respond. The only station that never failed is Seraphim Station.
@@theonefrancis696 interesting. I was only using Port Tressler for this, and in 8 runs (trying to get the footage to align with my VO took a few tries!) i only had that happen once. Wonder if its a server side issue causing it? I was on a fairly low pop fresh server at the time, so would make sense
Thank you. This was very helpful. I noticed an option in the keybind menu for "Toggle Docking Camera". It's bound to the letter "o" by default, which conflicts with the shields on/off button. I tried remapping this to a few other keys, and can't seem to get it working. Do you know if this currently functions? It would be convenient for ships with a docking port on the side.
Did some experimenting with both the P52 and HH, both in PU and AC and alas, i cannot get it to work, even rebinding to an unused key. So i think its fair to say its currently non functional! I've raised an IC for it if you want to add to it :) issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/issues/STARC-142489
Was surprisingly stable for me when doing this; the only issue I encountered was it taking a couple attempts to get departure clearance (server lag). I'd say its one of the few niche things that actually DOES work most of the time 🤣

Docking is still sometimes buggy. I had with my polaris all dots, the corners and side lines green. Was as close as i could but wont dock.
@@madeingermany9445 wonder if the docking port door didn't open - might be worth finding the "open all doors" interaction to force them open?

Thank you, well said.
This was amazing! Would love to see a Polaris version for sure!

nice guide!
was recomended this video despite me never once played Star Citizen lol
The wonders of the youtube algorithm 😂
Sweet explanation.
Glad you think so!
Assuming docking works xD
Weirdly, it always did work for me.
It was undocking that took a few tries!

Can any ship that has a docking collar so this or only large ships? I.e. retailiator, Zeus
currently its only those with large docking ports (so the octagonal ones), not the round ones :)
Well, and the P52 but thats a bit of a unique case!
Just smash full throttle into it until it sticks xD
i mean, any "landing" you walk away from without exploding due to clipping into the station...
Thank you. This was very helpful.

I think it's actually the number 0 by default. Either way, I don't think it's a working feature atm. Would be nice though.
I came here fully expecting to see Matthew McConaughey.
.... God damn it i should have started the video with "alright alright alright"
Docking is broken most of the time. Like the rest in this tech demo.
