He does his daddy proud while still doing this fine version his own way. How could you even ask for a more fitting tribute to a father than that Wow! Great job JR!
If your looking for the original put on a CD. This young man is carrying the notes that's more than some entertainers kids can do. Good job Charlie......Dad's smilin' down on ya man!!!!
I saw his dad in concert quite a few times....A special memory for me was one time at the Felt Forum at Madison Square Garden, I was in the front row and your dad pulled a flower off the piano and sat on the stage and sang and I was sooo close and he gave it to me.....my knees were shaking so bad...so nervous ...you look just like him and sound like him....Beautiful job on one of the most favorite songs of mine forever....
Beautiful story I bet you were star struck I would have done the same how sweet what a neat experience I think Jr did just fine hard to fill those shoes I'm sure that's not what he was doing at all ,,
Go to Charlie Rich Jr's. website and read his section, "You'll eat what you're served". He's got a lot of great stuff to read on his site. Interesting and funny guy.
I DID see him live, way back in '73. He gave a great performance. I felt SO LUCKY to have seen, heard him!!! Only one thing. He wld NOT come back for an encore...
I left this comment on your dad's site, but wanted to be sure you saw it too. You look so much like him. Keep singing, you 're doing great! Memories… It was the late 70’s and I was in my 20’s. Charlie was about 20 years older than me, but I was crazy about him! I had always been a “Rock & Roll“ kind of girl, until I heard this song and that did it! I bought his album and played it over and over, on the turntable. What great sound. I thought he was the best looking man in the world, then. My boyfriend asked me what I wanted for my birthday? Being the spoiled brat I was then, I said “I want to go to Vegas to see the “Silver Fox”. Done. He did ask, “wouldn’t you rather see Elvis”? I loved Elvis, but I said, “no, I can see Elvis anytime, he plays there all the time”. Sadly, Elvis died not long after that and I never got to see him in person. I was so excited to see Charlie Rich though! I had butterflies in my stomach the entire time, like a first crush. My boyfriend tipped the doorman $100, which was a lot back then, so we could have a table in front. Charlie was so great. I will never forget it. Side note: When I was showing my son this video tonight, he said “he looks like Michael Bruce, (our old friend in Alice Cooper), only with silver hair”. By gosh, he's right. Never saw it before! They resembled each other, at one time. God bless Charlie's family. Dn't forget to catch his son, Charlie Rich Jr. on UA-cam. Most young people of today, don't know what they are missing!
You know he’s a great songwriter. He wrote three that his father covered; You Never Really Wanted Me, Pretty People, and A Part of your life. A Part of Your Life was also on the Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge album, Kris and Rita. Additionally, John Legend recorded Hold on Longer, which Rich Jr co wrote with Legend and Kanye West. He plays a lot in the Midwest, South, and in Europe. He also played with The Texas Tornadoes, Ruben Ramos, Augie Meyers, Sam the Sham, Johnny Rivers, Jo-El Sonnier, and was Freddy Fender’s bandleader. Plus he had a band with Billy Swan (I Can Help) and Randy Meisner of the Eagles and Poco. That band was Meisner, Rich & Swan. Prior to that he was in Black Tie along with Jimmy Griffin and the members of M,R, & S.
Y'all need get something straight....He isn't going to sound like his Daddy. He sounds like he is supposed to sound. A son giving tribute to his Father. That alone is honorable. Personally, I think he did a great job on the song. Yes, his Daddy had a one of a kind voice and if you were to ask Charlie Rich Jr., who he sounds like, he would say that he isn't trying to emulate his Daddy. So just give Charlie Rich Jr. his props and let it go.
this yankee city slicker doesnt care for country music but I LOVE Charlie Rich ! There is something special about Charlie Rich and his music just moves me emotionally ! LOVE AND MISS MR CHARLIE RICH ! A unique man and singer/songwriter !
He's a handsome boy! I like the songs Jr. wrote with Meisner, Swan & Rich - a few should have been hits, especially It's Like I Never Had a Broken Heart. He's a melodic songwriter. His voice reminds me of the California country-rock bands, like Firefall.
I noticed the ladies in the audience (fellow second generation members) spotlighted by the camera during the last few minutes of the video are all smiling! Fine singer, musician…and good looking on top of that. Just like his Dad but with his own style. 👍👍
Charlie was one of a kind and could drink you under the table. I know, I tired to drink him under the table at George Jones' Possum Holler Club in 1977 in Nashville. It's sad that his son here, Alan changed his name to Charlie Rich Jr. by the simple fact that his Dad wanted him to make it on his own.
He does his daddy proud while still doing this fine version his own way. How could you even ask for a more fitting tribute to a father than that Wow! Great job JR!
I thought it was Charlie, I keep forgetting I'm 66 now. Loved it!!!!
He has a great voice in his own right His dad would be so proud to hear what a great job he did singing his song..

If your looking for the original put on a CD. This young man is carrying the notes that's more than some entertainers kids can do. Good job Charlie......Dad's smilin' down on ya man!!!!

Sorry,but he doesn't!
Beautiful story I bet you were star struck I would have done the same how sweet what a neat experience I think Jr did just fine hard to fill those shoes I'm sure that's not what he was doing at all ,,
He's got his Dad's trademark white hair and soulful voice.

Charlie Rich Jr delivered this song with his own style. It was good
Great rendition and what a love to honor your father in this way.
Kudos!
All these second generation singers are GREAT......so why do we get crap on the radio when these fine singers and musicians are available
Go to Charlie Rich Jr's. website and read his section, "You'll eat what you're served". He's got a lot of great stuff to read on his site. Interesting and funny guy.
Ya country music now isn't the country music that I listened to years ago
I detest the country pop so prevalent out there with the arm waving bimbos and their phones.
Charlie Rich Jr is a talented singer, pianoplayer, all around musician. I enjoy his performance and would love to see him play live.
I DID see him live, way back in '73. He gave a great performance. I felt SO LUCKY to have seen, heard him!!! Only one thing. He wld NOT come back for an encore...
I DID mean Sr.
Nice tribute to his dad. Thanks for posting.
He has a great way of singing, adding some blue eyed soul to his style.
The Most Beautiful Girl & Behind Closed Doors are my favorite! Excellent job Charlie Rich jr.
Me too. But he had other # 1 songs check his stuff out. Tremendous completely original voice
Ditto Mr. Peterson below. I also love that Rich Jr. went with a major chord on the line, "..that I love her." I love this version. What a legacy!
nice job!I can only imagine the pressure of having to llive up to your father's legend but I think you have your own style and talent
he may not sound like his father but he has carried on his tradition
+andrew baker He does sound like his father very much.
He absolutely sounds like his dad.
Fantastic voice! Thank you!
He's good. His Dad had such a long and strong tradition of success it's not easy for ANYONE to follow...

It's sad that his son here, Alan changed his name to Charlie Rich Jr. by the simple fact that his Dad wanted him to make it on his own.
