6th Brusko Pacific Coast Epic 50KM MTB Experience

Race day at the 6th Brusko Pacific Coast! This is our first time to join the 50KM MTB Mountain Bike with cut-off time of 10 hours. Gun start was 6:00AM and I finished at exactly 12 Noon, 6 Hours overall time with moving time of 4 hours. Spent 2.5 Hours at 25KM and 3.5Hours on the 2nd half.
The 10 hours was more than enough for a beginner like us, so time was not an issue. At the track read we did few weeks ago it was really hot and the track was very loose, so we felt it was way better on the actual race since it rained day before. If you're a beginner like us, track read is highly recommended.
Race Kit claiming was a day before the race and General Nakar was pretty far from Metro Manila, so we opted to book a hotel at Infanta, 5KM from General Nakar or 20 min by bike. We stayed at WMV Hotel, the owner was a retired seaman and was very accomodating. Our room had 3 bedrooms are can fit our bikes!
You will be required to present a Medical Certificate when you claim your kits, please take this seriously since someone lost his life 10 min from gun start due to cardiac arrest, he was 48. The first part 10KM of the track was pretty demanding with lots of steep climbs. Then after its more on gravel and up and downs. Challenging was the way back since you're already tire and the sun is already up with the heat. Don't expect sponsored drinks on aid stations, you get local food (suman, bibingka, lugaw, etc) and water or if you're lucky fresh buko.
Overall it was a great experience! One for the books! The locals was very friendly and accomodation was very affordable.
