Wishing ill on Batt if/when he goes is insane. That man did so much crucial work in the most tumultuous time in CFB history. I'll forever be grateful for his time here and wish him nothing but the best in his future.
@@Ace-v6r I'm going to assume that you are new around here, and that you don't know Collins and Stansbury were both fired Sep. 26 2022. J Batt was hired by Cabrera 18 days later on Oct. 14.
@@StanGardner4815 look pal. Good Riddance to you too! We got a coach in Key that can't win the big games. We got an overpaid basketball coach. The fan attendance at basketball is horrible. We need to clean house. Only person that should keep his job or even get promoted to head coach is Buster Faulkner.
I can't tell if you're trolling or mentally disabled. Brent Key is 6-1 vs ranked conference opponents, if anything he has trouble winning games that aren't big.
The turnover at the AD position has been the biggest frustration. That reflects on the entire program. Makes me believe the deeper rooted issue is money. Always is and has always been. We just can’t provide the facilities some of these bigger schools have to impress recruits. Apparently the same goes for coaches and ADs.
Yeah, but we always post about how 1/4 Tech grads are millionaires with the connections. The school has they should have plenty of funding and money coming in.
Key has done a terrific job hiring good staff and if not he seems to be quick to realize it and pulls the plug and hires another. Feel good about our future even if Buster leaves. I know he was looked at for the KY OC job last season and not sure if they passed on him or if he turned that offer down. Likely he will get looked at again this off season. I personally care more about keeping the DC and his staff. Great job on that side of the ball this season.
Didn’t we have similar drama about Faulkner potentially leaving last year and it never happened? Right, so I’ll believe it when I see it that Batt is leaving. I honestly didn’t even see this coming at all, but if we lose Jay, that would be a major step backwards to everything we’re working towards and just further proof that we can’t financially sustain successful staff. Cabrera would be foolish to turn him loose just not to have to worry about paying him and he knows it.
Agree wholeheartedly! Either way JBatt was good for GT. If he prefers to go to a smaller school in a smaller city then let him. We want people that want to be here! GT is a great school in a great location and is the fastest growing school in our state. JBATT has done a terrific job and is certainly not like the 2nd coach we no longer will even say his name (Not a BL or a GC) and has hopefully left a blue print on how to raise $ for the current state of NCAA athletics.
Remember winning ain't free send a check even if it's only 💯 dollars we need 40,000 fans sending a check every quarter that would be 16 million dollars annually
I would be more worried... the man wants to go to South Carolina? If he makes that career choice, he's not as smart as we were giving him credit. ... offer him a nice raise and ask him to please get back to work.
I have mixed feelings on Batt. I think he’s does some things that are good to improve the status of the program and bring in more revenue. I wasn’t crazy about the Hyundai deal at first but he was before the trend on that one. We are seeing corporate logos pop-up on fields of bigger programs and lucrative programs than ours. My biggest problem with him is that he’s damaged the gameday experience. You can knock tradition if you want, but there is a place for it in college athletics. It doesn’t have to trump everything, but it does set the college game apart from the pro game. I don’t like that he has stopped sending the pep band and cheerleaders to road games which has been a big loss. That would be an easier reallocation of resources to accept if he wasn’t wasting money on the Block Party. That requires no ticket to attend, so how does that translate to more ticket sales? The stadium update has pros - the scoreboard and sound system - but why we do we have to have chair-backs like an NFL stadium? The ones at UNC aren’t an improvement - is that what we will get? And by going to those, we drop stadium capacity to that of a Group of Five stadium. We are trying to build up the stature of our program and Brent is doing that. So what does now playing in a smaller venue capacity wise say about the program? I won’t hope he leaves, but if he does, I won’t be too upset if the next guy returns a focus to a college gameday experience in ways that doesn’t hurt the elevation of the program.
Life will go on if he stays or goes but I think a bigger question needs to be asked. Why is J Batt looking at a mid-tier sec school? For the answer, you need to look at our fan base. When coach Key brings us to back-to-back winning seasons, why can't tech fans sellout the game against #4 Miami at home to get us bowl eligible. Attendance will never be an issue at SC. If Batt leaves and we get the next or better version than Batt in the next hire, will the tech fan base sellout the stadium next year if we go back to back to back winning seasons or how about 5 years in a row and win 1-2 games against the dawgs. In business, you should ALWAYS be prepared to replace candidates (Same is applicable to college football) as good people will always be recruited and bad staff or employees will need to be replaced. At some point, the wringing of hands needs to stop cause employees will come and go but you get good staff when you have BUY IN from your employees or fan base.

if he brought in that much money, he is surely worth a part of that and will find more, that's just simple economics.
