- Recently the Royal Parkes have installed some brilliant infrastructure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Optimally placed, state of the art and cutting edge in both engineering and design, they do a great job at making cycling not only fun but also enjoyable no matter your ability or fitness.
I've teamed up with local hero@harrymaccycling to explore the facilities provided. Thank you Royal Parkes for the consideration and placement of the absolutely splendid installations!

Sensational
Great video. Funny, but does a good job of highlighting the madness here too.
Absolutely brilliant
I thought RP was shit when it was full of car traffic, now they've made it just as shit without car traffic? The park designer has shares in Zwift perhaps?
Yep, sums it up perfectly.
Brilliant!!
Incredible video. Chapeau
Priceless 😂
Designed and signed off by Cupid Stunt! 😏
RIP the RP hot lap
Unfortunately, I think you’ll find that this is probably the thinking behind all this.
superb
Just as perfect as everything in last several years around London… why don’t resurface roads that are full of potholes? Nah, let’s create something cool using wood!
At last the Royal park has come to it senses and installed permanent barriers to stop car traffic from using the park as a rat run and that we've had to put up with forever. The park should be for exercise, dog walking, so need fresh air. There's no place for vehicles. If we have to put up with a few barriers and speed bump to keep the cars out, I'm happy about that. Very funny video btw and I watched to the end. I think wand have potential.
Not really. The only sections that are now closed to cars are the Broomfield Hill and Sheen Gate sections. Cars can still get everywhere else. This is worse than the previous temporary barriers that closed Richmond Gate to Roehampton. Unless these are still to be installed.
The wands are actually a good thing, they make space for pedestrians getting to the rugby fields.
@@adamruddock3252 It's not perfect but lets just say it's a pedal stroke in the right direction
fkin brilliant !
Temporarily moved out of London and I am not sure I want to come back. It looks like good ideas poorly executed. Will need to test this for myself! Fun video
Ridiculous. Can't we have one place to ride. Just one.
Not so funny but in Toronto cyclist actually got speeding tickets in High Park (our version of this park)
Yeah. These aren't great, but a less hyperbolic report might have had more value to cyclists and the promotion of cyclists rights.
The barrier at the bottom of Broomfield is really no different to what was there before (red and white barriers), except it will now do more damage to hit and, most importantly, stops cyclists from being visible to the cars coming from Pen Ponds who have to give way to the traffic coming off Broomfield Hill.
The flexy bollards, instead of building a simple foot bridge to the side of the road bridge, are for pedestrians to walk on the road. Cars (and cyclists) heading up Sawyer's Hill have legal right of way over oncoming traffic (if they get there first) even though it's the uphill side that has the obstruction with road markings that are a bit unclear/ambiguous... but having legal right of way is not the point you really want to be arguing with the incoming car that doesn't pay any attention to the signs or cyclist safety.
In RP, the pedestrian crossings are confusing. Technically, they are courtesy crossings, meaning you don't have to stop for someone waiting to cross, but if a person is on the crossing you have to stop.
It's turning into a bit of a sh*t show, making more crap furniture to enable more drivers to get dangerously confused or drive more deliberately dangerously.
Maybe use the raised speed controllers as good practice for pretending you're riding in Belgium or Holland. They're everywhere there and are really no big deal.
fish line / wire is a risk - AWP those thug / robber - it is legal
What happens when you let non-cyclists design something for cyclists... and do so without riding it! #planningclowns
What an absolute mess the park is, what are they thinking?! 🤦♀
well. probably im in love with cycling, but half a year ago i moved to the UK, London - and this is absolutely trash. I do not know, how people are still riding road bikes, if you still not have any roads here for it.... what is happenning??? richmond park its absolutely peasfull park for cycling, but even this place is ruined by the bad pavement and speedbumps in it. disgusting.
even in my original country, where we have a lot of troubles with corruption we had even better roads everywhere. whats going on with uk? ((((((((((((((((
This is so depressing. Horrendous ugly road furniture to blight the park and create additional dangerous blind spots for cyclists - the Broomfield Hill one looks the worst. Very poor decision.
had a good laugh, but what a fucking joke these obstacles are really
"pedestrian crossing - who has priority? Who knows, who cares!" Yeah well tell that to the 2 people who were recently killed by cyclists in that park 😠
appreciate the comment man, but you might find that this happened at Regents Park and not Richmond
Cringe
