I agree. The small writing in the instructions says not to be used in 'Low Boy' type toilets. Because not enough water pressure on the valve causes it to keep flowing and water flows into the overflow tube constantly. I keep checking to see if they fixed this flaw, but not done yet.

Mini Pilot Valves are such a problem that it took over 20 years for the industry to figure out what was going on with this type of valve. They will work fine for a period and then seem to self-destruct. What has been discovered is, minerals break off in the water pipes and lodge in the valve, causing valve failure. We now recommend Mini Pilot Valves not be used without a 7/8 filter screen adapter. The Mini pilot valve has a rubber diagram inside the valve that activates the valve to turn on and off by water pressure (the depth of the water). The rubber diaphragm is what causes the squeal when the thin rubber loses its seal. Calcium and minerals break off inside house pipes and particles get lodged inside the valve. The valve can squeal and not turn off properly. We sell many types of valves and recommend a float type valve in high calcium water areas.
There are very few toilet parts made in the world that are not made in "The Peoples Republic of China" They also own all the patents, all bought from Europe and the USA.

Mine worked fine until debris got lodged inside and it didn't shut off anymore. I tried to 'revive' it by taking it apart and cleaned it out by removing the debris but the 're-assembling' the diaphragm was nearly impossible so I had to REPLACE IT WITH A DIFFERENT TYPE of valve. If you must use this valve, a 'screen' to filter out the debris is a MUST, unless the manufacturer tweaked it to include an easily replaceable diaphragm.

I would strongly recommend buying that kind of a valve. You simply bought a cheap version. When you buy the expensive one it’s the best valve you can possibly want . Easy to install and no float to piss with. It’s the greatest valve ever made. And if you can’t handle that 4 second little squeak, you got a lot worse problems. I’ve installed hundreds of them for people over the last 20 years not more than two or three complaints and all that time . There so small it leaves your room to work with the flush valve and anything else you need to do to the tank, including the flush lever. As a matter of fact, there is so good when I install a new stool, I take the original new valve out and replace it with one of these.

You’re 100% right I’ve never had a problem with one as long as you don’t buy the cheapie the greatest part is they’re so easy to install and easy to adjust light years ahead of everything else

This valve will not work in a low profile toilet tank. The water is not deep enough.

I have used the Waxman brand of this flow valve. They work great and last for years. Very easy to adjust. If I get a different brand from Amazon, I’ll be aware of the problems you mentioned.

I purchased two as well, just as you explained this particular brand don’t work at all. I did my first installation of this product, even after making adjustments water continue to run. I had to return them and get a refund.

Mini Pilot Valves will make a squealing noise if the flapper valve is not seating quickly. This is a unique feature of the mini valve; it will indicate a loss of water. The noise can only be caused by water running through the valve at a slower rate. Sometimes you will hear the valve when it’s trying to shutoff. If the valve is turning off to slow there will be a noise from the valve that will also continue when the valve is turned on by loss of water out the drain. The flapper should be replaced or cleaned around the flush hole and the flapper. Use a scowering pad and vinegar to clean off the calcium build up. Flapper valves should be replaced every couple year to guarantee a good seal. You can push down on the flapper valve when it’s making noise to check and see if the flapper is leaking before it seats in the flush hole. If it stops the noise, the flapper is taking too long to seat. There is probably a slight leak and water is going out the flapper valve slowly until the flapper seals.
You can also lubricate the flat spring on top of the valve by using a silicone spray or WD40. Use a screwdriver and push the flat spring up and down several times to loosen it up to make sure it’s not sticking.

You exactly right . They also leave you with all lots of room to work on other parts ( flush valve and lever ) So unless you’re water is terrible with low pressure full of iron. Then got a float style valve .

I agree, and the Corky brand works very well too. The cheap ones are like the guy says pretty much useless, but the good ones are the greatest easiest valve ever made.

I agree that it's a total waste. Water continue to overflow inside the tank and difficult to adjust. At least I don't hear the hissing sound.

Sorry for your bad luck. I installed this model two days ago in a 1.6 gallon Eljer one-piece, low-profile toilet. Works great, no noise. It's cool that the company owner writes you back. You can phone him too.

Greatest valve ever made. Unless you have dirty water, terrible water, pressure or is full of iron. If that’s your kind of water, get a float style valve.
