Thank you for sharing! Your videos help us the owners of Nc750x to look in the future and stay calm because you already found the solutions to any issue 😁
What is the weight difference? I guess the alloy bits are a bit heavier? And watch out for the aluminium accelerating local corrosion of the swingarm (although I really doubt this will be an issue).
This is a great job. You know I think your skills are top notch so I won't say it here :-) I really enjoy watching you do this stuff. It's very therapeutic. There's a little part of my mind, right in the very back that I never look at very much, that is thinking... "is he inventing jobs now because he's run out of stuff to make and cleaver things to do?" Don't pay it any attention, I just put that thought back in its box where it belongs :-)
another good video and you make it look so easy.my new swing arm arrived last week for the nc700xd and i will be buying new chain adjustment blocks shortly.
Looking great!, they could have put some more thought in the swingarm of the NC750X... at the moment it looks like a part u could find in an ikea cabinet assembly. I heard some people put on an integra swingarm which looks way nicer..
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff I am still happy with my NC750X, but might upgrade to a Africa twin in the near future. The price for a 2018 NC750X here is around 10500 euro's.. for 12k euro's you can buy a very nice africa twin with low mileage which has much more to offer.
HuskyRides like higher fuel consumption! 😃. I rode an AT last week and it was better handling and power but the NC is good enough and much cheaper to run.
what to do when one of the original blocks is a bit loose after chain adjustment? both nuts 14" and 12" are screwed, but the rigth side block it wigles when touched...
Hmm? No. The 500x blocks would be too fat for the NC’s adjustment thread. But you might be able to fit the whole mechanism (screw thread etc) from the 500x
Mate, I got very nervous when you were using the bandsaw, having cut my thumb badly a couple of years ago even though I was being careful. I thought your welds were great and you have such good gear. Has Wendy seen this vid? You might be in the doghouse for a while! Maybe you could do jobs for other motorcyclists! Or ask for mod suggestions. I'm sure that there could be lots of interesting ideas forthcoming from your viewers.
Roger Perrett - I’m happy to fail when it’s a project for myself. Way too much pressure making stuff for others. But thanks for the vote of confidence. I’m just a self taught bumbler who drools over all those skilled welding videos I watch on UA-cam !
Roger Perrett - bandsaw ? When watching the footage to narrate it I was also thinking “your going to cut your thumb off you idiot” but it was just the camera angle that made it look that way - fortunately!
I was more concerned when you were wearing those gloves on the sander - get a bit too close and the wheel will drag the glove in followed by your fingers !
Ged Hicks - no chance if that. The gap is less than 3mm between the sanding disc and table. Besides I’d rather that risk than burn my fingers. Aluminium heats up very quickly in these situations. But thanks for your concern.
Great job, as always. What did you do with the original ones? If you still have them would you be keen to sell, as I recently lost one of mine? (Couldn't find the way to PM you)
My only concern is aluminium is brittle so I hope the pieces do not develop micro fractures. I could be totally wrong here. But the new pieces look. So much better than the old ones.
aaronbpinto - you are correct in that in some situations aluminium can experience stress fracture if it’s subjected to twisting loads. But in this case I have 12mm thickness and virtually no load as the wheel is held in place mostly by the axle bolt and nut.
Jeff Keniston - I’ve often wondered what type of person gives any UA-cam video a thumbs down. Maybe it gives them a feeling of superiority or they imagine people cares about their negative opinion.
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff Personally I don't hesitate to give a thumbs down when the title or thumbnail proves to be click bait. And if a channel/content creator pulls that stunt too many times, I stop following. In your case, what's to dislike about a guy fabbing some bike bits in his workshop! How clever and enterprising. I liked it enough to cancel out the disparaging fool's dislike. Case closed.
9:43 Do you have a spy camera in my house ? You could almost have described me... Given that the gritters will shortly be covering the roads in salt I think I will be spraying the inside of my swingarm with waxoyl. Thanks for posting as it never would have occurred to me otherwise.

If I had your tools and skills (and time) I would do the same thing with mine. Alas, I will have to just try to maintain my cheap parts. Great video!

Return Rider - hmmm. Unfortunately that could be right on the money ! But I’m not admitting to it - even to myself.

That looks like a pretty nice shop you have there. How about a quick walk thru video sometime? Thanks.

I''m ok with the FF Honda ones but I've added a stainless dome nut to the end of the thread. It just looks better.
I was concerned you found a functional defect in the factory parts. I'm glad it's just an aesthetic thing. Nice job, btw.

HuskyRides - yes. Definitely built to a low budget. Just have to compare it to the Versys to see what can be done for a similar price.

The cheap swing arm that Honda puts on the NC750X is actually one of the things holding me back from buying one. Do the CB500X blocks fit?
Hmm? No. The 500x blocks would be too fat for the NC’s adjustment thread.

Your puddle welding with the Tig looks top notch to me. Yeah... aluminum welding... clean it, clean it, and clean it again.
Garth Howe - yep. Cleanliness is next to weldliness!
You are way too clever! Good job.
Looking at the Honda CB500X “CAP, SWINGARM END”:part number 40546-MGZ-J00 by Honda. How do the dimensions of this part compare to the Honda NC750X?
Mikel Fink - possibly the same by I haven’t checked.
If it fits, the mod may require a longer adjustment bolt as well
What a great instruction video, thx!!
I love my 2012 NC700 XD but i hate the look of swim arm end, thanks for sharing!

Roman F - thanks mate but I’m keeping the originals.
Thank you for sharing.!
Could it be that you were the teacher of MacGyver 😉?
Seriously...well done!
Stevelookather - ha! Not likely. McGyver works have used an old beer can and achieved the same result.
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff And don't forget: The Swiss Army Knife!
Nice work!

Have you posted mine yet?
Tony Bigt - yep. As they say ... “The cheque is in the mail”

C Cooper - yes. I think that would be a good practice for people riding in the nasty conditions you experience.
It was just about the welding, wasn't it?
Christoph Sauter - or just too much time on my hands!
Thank you for sharing!
Measure twice...cut once! Fine job Mate :{)
Measure twice, cut once, swear like f**k and go looking for another piece of metal, wood etc etc....
I would of just cut a V in the inner locating plate and dispensed with the drill stage.
Very nice
Well done. I would have fouled up every.single.measurement
You could have "borrowed" them off Wendy's bike 😉
Ivan Great - ha! And then I’d be looking for a new place to live!
Me - i need a rad protector
Engineer - why not make one
Me - ??
Stephen Bond - it’s only fun if you make it yourself!
