- Liam Neeson visits Ricky Gervais & Steven Merchant to riff a little improv. From the new Gervais/Merchant project, 'Life's Too Short' starring Warwick Davis. A scene to rival Ian McKellen's in Extras.

"we had a scene together in Star Wars...do you remember?"
"Okay."
Ha ha haaaaaaaaaaa.
"It's me again...I've got aids."
Let’s do some improvisational comedy... *now*
When Liam walks in at 0:16 he looks like he's about to batter them all.
So menacing
The northern irish accent can sound menacing when spoken softly even when we're not trying to be menacing...
Timing!
I’ll get my coat...
I’ve never been here before.
How intense does Neeson make this scene? Brilliant
Absolutely, when he walks in he looks like he's about to pummel the shit out of them. Fucking hysterical how these four made this wildly uncomfortable.
He does have a very particular set of skills.
@@pezn2077 😂😂😂😂😂
hes awesome
Pity he cant act
"We had a scene together. It was cut though, do you remember?"

I would have never imagined the line "I've contracted aids" would make me cry with laughter

This is just hilarious. How Liam Neeson is willing to take the piss out of himself. Refreshing for such a big star!

And your point is......?
It is not a point. It is a question.

This is such a brilliant scene. The looks, the timing, the awkwardness. Just beautiful.
Yep - the cringe is strong in this one!
@beardedcollie39 I was thinking that 😂😂
@beardedcollie39 son of a bitch stole my line
The rest of the show is criminally underappreciated

Liam shooting his lines with a straight face and voice, it's what worked for Leslie Nielsen in Airplane.
Yeah, except with Leslie Nielsen you didn't get the impression you're moments away from death 😙
There's a rumour going round that Seth MacFarlane is planning on a remake of The Naked Gun with the big man attached to the project. Leslie Nielsen might be too big an act to live up to. Teaming Liam up with Jamie Dornan might work. Knowing Seth he'd probably want to bring back OJ back just to mess with everyone.
Another thing too is that Leslie Nielsen had this way of comedy like with airplane and the naked gun movies that he was completely oblivious to the ridiculousness that was going on around him and his serious reaction to try to extrapolate meaning from the silly is what constituted the comedy
I think for Leslie Nielsen it worked for all of his movies
The way Liam comes marching in (0:17) like a debt is about to be paid.
Exactly. Haahaaaa haaaaa.
and then he gives Warwick that cold ''okay...'' 😂
"We're closed".
Possibly the funniest two seconds on UA-cam...
Warwick’s face through out 😂💖
The horror.
“Ok”
Concern
So funny and hilarious.
such horror, concern, shock and fear
The way he says crazy characters.
The skill in acting as somebody who wants to do comedy without a sense of humour but in doing so is unintentionally hilarious. Neeson really should be cast in more comedies!

I just love how Liam gives Ricky absolutely nothing to work with in the improv at any point despite the fact that he's the one wanting to do improv.
he is mimicking a guy who goes to an improv class for the first time.
Well done, Chris. You literally just explained the whole point.
💯😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I didn't get the joke until you stated the fkg obvious.
To the "Yes that's the joke" people. Yes... I know that.
I'm expressing my appreciation for how well written the joke is, 'Liam is bad at improv and that's funny' is an idea that could have been done in several ways that didn't necessarily require Liam to leave Ricky with nothing to work with.
I love the direction they went with it, hence my post. If you don't like my opinion that's fine, to each their own.
I love his curt ‘OK’ to Davis’ comment about the _Star Wars_ cut scene!
Spielberg said "that's exactly what I'm looking for". LOL
The way he says "crazy characters" with that seriousness and Ulster accent nails me
Ulster accent?. There are so many accents in the province.

When they laugh about the lists and he's not trying to be funny. It's a paradox of humour. Brilliant.
Not a paradox just dry.
Probably the best comedy sketch ever written.

The last bit had me properly crying with laughter and that hadn't happened for years. Amazing stuff.

WELCOME TO THE JOKE
There are not enough superlatives to describe just how good this is. Nuff said.
Either there aren't enough superlatives OR enough said - can't be both
"I don't take notes" - so good.

Is it just me or was this extraordinarily funny.
I don't think anyone has ever been so funny while remaining so serious, except for maybe Captain Holt
What a fantastic improvised comedy... He made me laugh more than most stand up comedians!
Such an incredibly well written scene!
This show was genius. It should have had more seasons.
The follow on from the doctors to the green grocer was actually funny as hell imo. Perfect improve👌🏻
I love self deprecating humour. You’re a good man Liam.
"I'm a funny guy, aren't I?"
Delivered as if this concept was ridiculous.
Yet in reality, he delivers one of the greatest comedic scenes that many of us will see in our lifetimes.
The sketch was hilarious yes but let's not exaggerate lmao
Comedy perfection! Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are, in my opinion, the greatest contribution to comedy for decades. Their style has been imitated by so many. They literally (in the word's correct context) created a new genre of comedy. Brilliant.
This is gold
Probably my favourite ever comedy sketch - brilliant writing, casting and production.

I could watch sophisticated brilliant humour like this all day.
Grew up in the same streets as Liam talked to him many times trust me he's a great guy 👌
Shut up 😂
guessing you're not black
I've only just realised that this upload was somehow set to 'private'. I guess that's what happens when you don't really do much UA-camry stuff. The funny part is that I was watching someone else's more recent 240p upload of this when it struck me that I'd uploaded it myself six years ago, a few days after it first aired in the UK. Anyway...I obviously don't know if people had wanted to comment on it, but y'all can fill your boots now.
At the time I uploaded this, only one episode had aired. I think it ended up with seven and a special. Sadly, nothing topped this scene. The scene featuring Johnny Depp was alright, but this was easily the best part of the entire series.
I agree, after watching this episode, i had very high hopes as Liam didn't struck me as the obvious funny guest, but he killed it and this is easily the best scene of the whole show, maybe only topped by this scene's outtakes, which are hilarious as well.
This was quality
"Nope not from me, I was at the doctors"

The outtakes for this is brilliant 😂
What a sport and they are all fantastic. Warwick's face throughout was brilliant. As was the interjections from Steve. I dread to think how many takes it took and especially knowing how Ricky pisses himself over most things. This sketch shows not all Hollywood actors are up their own arse.
the outtakes are hilarious, they all are cracking up
Even the way he walks in is intense.
The bloopers from this scene are epic
They certainly are 😜 i really don't know how they eventually got it together ⚡
Brilliant! Good job Liam. No wonder you've had such a splendid career when you're willing to just take a piss at your own expense and in so doing make the rest of us burst with laughter. Thank you.
I was crying with laughter towards the end aids part was beyond funny very well written
One of the best sketches I have seen.
“Full blown” is just too much!
Back in 2011, the new Lyric Theatre in Belfast was opened. Liam Neeson and James Nesbit were invited to the opening, when young actors cut their teeth at the Lyric. It was thought that these two stars would turn up, say hello, make a little speech, photo opportunity and gone!
But no, they stayed for five hours engaging and reminiscing with everyone.
His voice scares the shit out of people😂
Genuinely threatening when he’s “let’s do some improvisational comedy....now!”
Great stuff! Liam is such a legend!
"I'm always making lists" 20 seconds later ever so subtly "I don't take notes" haha
