583 melting pistons sounds like timing issue or to lean/ air leak..check carb boots the 583 and 670 are tough as nails I have a 670HO 99 9000km krig bottom end 1 set piston rings since 99...thats it And it didnt blow up...just freshened it
@@sled_neckx9972 I know 5 people who's 583 s melted the clutch side piston BEFORE 2,000 miles! One friends melted down at 1,200 miles!! Those engines were garbage!! They were all the clutch side piston burnt up!!!
The 670 ski doo is the only ski doo I would ever own I had 2 of them
ski doo rotary valved motors with rave are very strong.
I wonder what the distance was. In a "free distance" run, my 97 yamaha sx 600 with a headgasket and dupont slides will get 91 mph on my phone gps.

Ya'll standing like that have real balls
My 97 vmax 600 goes well over 100, with a little clutching and gearing changes.
Still pulls out of the hole like a bandit!.
That was a long run, but I guess the idea is max speed not 1/4 or 1/8 of a mile
My brother went through 3 engines within 6,800 miles...
The 583 is even worse!!
What did you do to blow a 583? Those engines are proven solid.

@@philllsxga.7737 my buddy had a MXZ 583 and that was bar none the biggest pile of crap he ever bought out of anything ever.
@@sled_neckx9972 very solid motors.
@@philllsxga.7737 well, alot of it is how people maintain and keep up (or lack there of) with them.
