My dad loved basketball, but stopped watching, until the competition between Johnson & Bird was highlighted......What my Dad used to say, about Larry's game, is that it reminded him of someone, who was not only playing basketball, but also, volleyball, dodgeball, baseball, football, soccer, & strategic chess, all at the same time, and was what made him so great 😊He certainly was one of the most unique and gifted players, I have ever watched! *(Great reaction guys)*

Bird was one steal away from a quadruple double in 3 quarters and sat out the 4th quarter because those numbers didn't matter to Bird. He was about the score board numbers.

You know what I love about your setup? You're not just repping one team, but a bunch of iconic players past and present. That's the mark of a real fan of the game.
A man who would get into the head of an opponent BEFORE the game started and mess it up so bad...a man who made his teammates remember that he was the ultimate brick wall of reliability; a killer attitude regarding his skill set and the confidence to prove it any night; and as ferocious as any competitor ever wished to be.

I was at that Game where McHale scored 56 against the Isiah Thomas led Pistons, it was Easter weekend in the early 80’s and the Garden was loud. McHale was putting on a clinic of low post moves that day.
Great reaction. Love the jersey. Don't know if you reacted to the videos about his injuries. He broke his back, shattered his knuckle, fractured eye orbiter, fractured his right cheek and finished the gave, double Achilles surgery, had to lay down on planes for away games. He played some games with a fiberglass body brace on. After some games he'd have to go to the hospital and spend the night in traction. Refused pain meds and shots because that man wasn't going to let anything interfere with his thought process. Don't remember the exact titles but one video is about 4 times he was injured and another is about 5 times. One reactor summed up today's NBA when he said today a player will sit out if his Uncle gets hurt. Lol.
It was incredible how he played hurt, what privilege to be able to watch his whole career seeing him at the Boston garden is overwhelming to explain...it makes me sick what the NBA has become. A hang nail today they miss 5 games. Thats all LeBron he ruined the game..

Larry made a fool out of me, too... :)

As a 53yr old, I remember seeing Larry play and at the time I hated the Celtics, but his greatness was un-deniable. I was a Bulls fan ever since MJ joined the team when I was in highschool. Larry spoiled MJ's early attempts to make the Finals, MJ didn't get his first ring till Larry retired. Larry is the only player MJ couldn't dominate, with a nod to Isaiah Thomas as he did pretty well against MJ also. Larry was MJ's kryptonite. My top five are 1 MJ. 2 Bird. 3 Kobi. 4 Magic. 5 Bron. Been watching hopes since 72'.....Larry Legend is easily top 3 all time. Easily best SF ever. His prowess both ends of court and his consistent will to win and play every game like it was his last....very few players come close. Longevity is not a virtue of greatness.....finding was to shut down others - no matter who they were - and bring home WINS...That was Basketball Jesus - Larry Bird!
Yeah man. I grew up watching and loving Jordan the most, but Bird was Bad Bad. Definitely top 10 of all time. I mean, he's in the discussion for any spot in the top 10. Kareem said he was the best player he ever played against. He also played against Jordan. That carries a lot of weight with me.
The ability to just call your own shots and make them is unheard of. I remember being like 8 or so and watching Lakers/Celtics finals and to this day no other game felt so huge. My dad's side of the family was from the LA area so I was not a Bird fan. Bird and Magic arguably saved the league. Both their careers got cut shot, Bird's back held him back in both years and minutes he played, and of course Magic had his medical issue. Both IMHO should always be considered in the debate the best to play the game.
Bird was never a great 1v1 defender, but he harassed passing lanes, stole balls from unsuspecting or unwary folks, took charges, and got blocks every once in a while.
MCCHALE'S BIG GAME,.. WAS ACTUALLY 57 POINTS!!! LARRY LEGEND JOE BIRD: 1. HAS THE SMARTEST IQ IN NBA HISTORY!!! 2.HE'S ALSO THE GREATEST SHOOTER, OF ALL-TIME (EVEN BETTER THAN STEPH CURRY),.. FOR VARIOUS REASONINGS!!! 3. IS THE GREATEST TRASH TALKER IN NBA HISTORY!!! 4. & HE'S ALSO THE GREATEST ALL-AROUND PLAYER IN NBA HISTORY,.. AS WELL!!! I KNOW THIS, BECAUSE I'M IN MY EARLY 50'S, & I'VE SEEN IT,.. I WAS THERE!!!
Bird led the league in defensive win shares 4 or 5 times and is tied at #5 all time in defensive win shares with Hakeem behind George miken, Bill Russell and Tim Duncan. He is ahead of Jordan, kobe, lebron, Rodman and everyone else except the 4 guys listed
Bird was a team player on a higher level than any one else, past and present. He may not have had as much athletic pyrotechnics as Jordan, but if you were to weigh being a genius team player versus being an athletic superstar, being a genius team player is better for winning.
It’s your opponent that that tells the story of who is great and who isn’t. ALL of Larry’s opponents had, at one time or another, wished they could have called in sick, vacation or something, anything, when faced with the prospect of guarding him. When people talk about LB they always say both names, never one without the other, that’s respect. When the coach of the other team is smiling behind his clipboard as he watches LB demolition of his own defense, you know. When the other teams, are drilling, with the express purpose of lessening his effectiveness, knowing that it probably won’t work, you know.

Pat Riley head coach of the lakers once said, " If i had one shot to win a game, i would use Michael Jordan.. If I had one shot to save my life, I would use Bird.." True story
Hey guys, great reaction, I got a good one for ya. Larry Bird Vs Michael Jordan. It may change a few minds on just how close these two are in the GOAT debate..😊
Barkley is barely 6’5” rebounding like that. Bird was 6’10” easier to rebound than someone 6’5”. Defensively I think it’s a tie Bird good at steals and mind games. Barkley was better post defender. It’s just he was 6’5” going against 6’9”-7’0” power forwards.
Can’t imagine how many points he would have had if he didn’t make all the insane passes he made through his career. His sharing of the court and passing was insane !
I think his passing was even more incredible than his shooting. It amazes me that his team mates were aware enough to catch the passes. So many of them came from unusual places/angles.
Most people pick Magic as the best player in the 80's. Bird won Rookie of the Year over Magic in 1980. Bird won 3 consecutive NBA MVP's and finished 2nd another 5 times. Let this sink in. From 1981-1988 Larry Bird received 67% of all 1st Place MVP votes.
Bird is textbook of what basketball players should be. In 90's there is slogan be like mike. That's nonsense since very little people have physique like MJ. If you want to become good bb player learn from bird. The best all around players in nba thats i have seen.
Gotta say this, Barkley could have been an amazing defensive player...his footwork, his strength, his instinct . He just didn't want to. Charles is an all-time great, both as a player, and now, as a commenter, but he half-assed defense for most of his career.
Barkley is underrated, and its only because he never won a ring. At the time he was one of the top 5 in the league (mid 90's) no doubt in my mind. He was actually unlucky to play in MJ's era, because if he had not? he might have got that ring
For those that think Larry Bird was not as good as he really was and never had the chance to see him play this comment is for you. Remember in this comment I am just highlighting Larry's NBA accomplishments. Little know thing about Larry to those that never saw him play , he could effect the outcome of a game and never take a shot thats how devastating his passing skills were. Here is one thing that most fans (people) either don't know or try to ignore, prior to Larry joining the NBA there was no such thing as a three point line, that came in when Bird was starting his first year of his NBA career. Just think about it, what would todays game be without the three point line or if the line was one foot farther out like it was when it was first introduced. Food for thought. At that time it was not about the individuals stats it was about the win. But if you need some stats here you go: Here are some of Larry Bird's notable career achievements and statistics: Three-time NBA champion (1981, 1984, 1986); Two-time NBA Finals MVP (1984, 1986); Three-time NBA MVP (1984-86); 12-time NBA All-Star (1980-88, 1990-92); Nine-time All-NBA First Team (1980-88); All-NBA Second Team (1990); Three-time All-NBA Defensive Second Team (1982-84); NBA Rookie of the Year (1980); NBA All-Rookie Team (1980); Three-time NBA Three-Point Contest champion (1986-88); Career-high in points: 60 (March 12, 1985) -- tied for franchise record with Jayson Tatum; Named NBA Coach of the Year (1998); and Named NBA Executive of the Year (2012). Larry Bird, was the first player to accomplish the 50-40-90 achievement, and one of two players to achieve the feat in multiple seasons. Career averages: 24.3 points per game 10.0 rebounds per game 6.3 assists per game 88.6% free throw percentage 49.6% field goal percentage 37.6% 3-point percentage Now we can't forget that Bird famously played with two injured ankles and a notoriously cranky back that forced him to lay down on the floor during practice breaks. After season-ending foot surgery just six games into the 1988-89 season James Worthy, who played against both Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, said, I'd much rather play. against Michael Jordan than Larry Bird. Jordan made you look slow, but Bird made you look stupid.
There is a video out there about Bird vs Jordan. It will show how great Bird. I believe the last time Bird played Jordan and Pippin Bird destroyed them in a fourth. That was bad back and feet Bird. He had the intangibles. The biggest was Bird's Pure Will. He just willed that stuff.
@@ItzJustJP I noticed that. I have enjoyed you videos on Bird. I have seen them many time's. But I enjoy people opening their eyes on Bird. His career was short because he laid his body out. My favorite Bird Quote is when Bird said he hates players watching the ball go out of bounds. I don't know how many times he landed in the crowd and diving out of bounds for a ball. His career was short but for 8 years he was the best damn player in the League. Thank you for your work.
McHale has the freaky long gorilla arms and if you pass him the ball inside you’re not getting it back. McHale was a good partner for Bird as was DJ, Parish, Ainge could shoot and would throw hands like Isiah when he had to, heck I’ll even throw Walton on there as goofy as he is since Bird revered him.
It is criminal the amount of disrespect Larry gets from these younger fans. Dude is top 3 all time, and in my opinion the greatest ever.
Yeah it’s crazy! Like smh
He gets more respect now than he did in the 80's. Finding a black dude back then to admit that Bird was great wasn't easy.

Longevity is not a virtue of greatness.....finding was to shut down others - no matter who they were - and bring home WINS...That was Basketball Jesus - Larry Bird!
Magic & Bird changed everything for the better in the NBA they made the NBA awesome for about a decade plus with & without them
Facts!!!! Made them a lot of money
I love your channel... I'm going back and watching old videos... keep it up...
Thank you so much! I appreciate you!
I love it when guys talk about what they know!!
Yeah man. I grew up watching and loving Jordan the most, but Bird was Bad Bad. Definitely top 10 of all time. I mean, he's in the discussion for any spot in the top 10. Kareem said he was the best player he ever played against. He also played against Jordan. That carries a lot of weight with me.
😂😂😂😂IF LARRY BIRD WAS ACTIVE NOW..HE'D MAKE EM CRY!!!!
Lmao 😂😂😂😂
When the legends talk about you years later you have to be special!
Thx Paul Larry legend ty JP for showing people how good Larry Legend was ❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
I used to watch them on tv, turn the sound off, and then turn on the radio to listen to Jonny Most.
MCCHALE'S BIG GAME,.. WAS ACTUALLY 57 POINTS!!!
LARRY LEGEND JOE BIRD:
Finally someone appreciates that boop over the head fake, then the shot, as much as I. Like something my dad would do to me in the driveway LOL
Lol 😂
Hey Paul, ty JP❤
He said hello! No problem at all!
Charles was my favorite player, as a kid... I get him giving respect
GOAT"S GOAT
Bird led the league in defensive win shares 4 or 5 times and is tied at #5 all time in defensive win shares with Hakeem behind George miken, Bill Russell and Tim Duncan. He is ahead of Jordan, kobe, lebron, Rodman and everyone else except the 4 guys listed
Mmmmmmmm trivia question there!!!
The biggest difference between Bird and LeBron is mental. LeBron doesn't have killer instinct.
LARRY LEGEND IS A UNICORN AND THE TRUE GOAT!!! 🐐 ☘️

"There are many G.O.A.T.s but only ONE Legend".
Pat Riley head coach of the lakers once said, " If i had one shot to win a game, i would use Michael Jordan.. If I had one shot to save my life, I would use Bird.." True story
Only a fool would believe bird was slow on the court he sure beat the hell out of alot of players !
Hey guys, great reaction, I got a good one for ya. Larry Bird Vs Michael Jordan. It may change a few minds on just how close these two are in the GOAT debate..😊
Thank you!
@ItzJustJP in the title to that video is You never beat me, The best Larry Bird vs Michael Jordan story ever told.
That fake at 13:00 is probably my favorite play of all time LOL🔥
Oh yeah that was a great play! 🔥🔥
@@ItzJustJP facts
Barkley is barely 6’5” rebounding like that. Bird was 6’10” easier to rebound than someone 6’5”. Defensively I think it’s a tie Bird good at steals and mind games. Barkley was better post defender. It’s just he was 6’5” going against 6’9”-7’0” power forwards.
If there was a magical time machine that could bring a rookie Larry Bird to 2023, he would be MVP every single year until he retired.
I think modern basketball would bore the shit out of him. I think some, Larry included, actually thrived in the more brutal physical basketball.
La Bron couldn’t carry Larry Birds jock strap
Bird is also the originator of the 50/40/90 club!
Larry Bird did it all and did it better than any other player. That's what makes up a GOAT. Not rings and high flying dunks. #33 LARRY BIRD #GOAT
Thx JP what up to your friend ❤❤
I tell him
Can’t imagine how many points he would have had if he didn’t make all the insane passes he made through his career.
Larry was quick when he needed to be 🏀🔥🐐
Right!!
Bird is textbook of what basketball players should be. In 90's there is slogan be like mike. That's nonsense since very little people have physique like MJ. If you want to become good bb player learn from bird. The best all around players in nba thats i have seen.
Loved your enthusiasm. I would love to see a reaction to Dennis Rodman. You don't hear much about him. but he is definitely one of the best!
Oh yeah he is so underrated! I done a reaction on Dennis Rodman highlights before. He was so good! Top 5 rebounder of all time. Great defender
To see these games live are great childhood memories. Basketball was completely different. It was great watching learning from this time.
True GOAT
But if you need some stats here you go:
Here are some of Larry Bird's notable career achievements and statistics:
Three-time NBA champion (1981, 1984, 1986); Two-time NBA Finals MVP (1984, 1986); Three-time NBA MVP (1984-86); 12-time NBA All-Star (1980-88, 1990-92); Nine-time All-NBA First Team (1980-88);
All-NBA Second Team (1990); Three-time All-NBA Defensive Second Team (1982-84); NBA Rookie of the Year (1980); NBA All-Rookie Team (1980); Three-time NBA Three-Point Contest champion (1986-88);
Career-high in points: 60 (March 12, 1985) -- tied for franchise record with Jayson Tatum; Named NBA Coach of the Year (1998); and Named NBA Executive of the Year (2012).
Larry Bird, was the first player to accomplish the 50-40-90 achievement, and one of two players to achieve the feat in multiple seasons.
Career averages:
24.3 points per game
10.0 rebounds per game
6.3 assists per game
88.6% free throw percentage
49.6% field goal percentage
37.6% 3-point percentage
Now we can't forget that Bird famously played with two injured ankles and a notoriously cranky back that forced him to lay down on the floor during practice breaks. After season-ending foot surgery just six games into the 1988-89 season
James Worthy, who played against both Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, said, I'd much rather play. against Michael Jordan than Larry Bird.
Yes I just put that video out today.
@@kurtsherrick2066 thank you so much and facts!
One game against Larry Bird and he was living rent free in your head the rest of your career.
A quote of James Worthy; " Jordan will make you look slow, but Bird made you look stupid." Remember Mr. Worthy played against both.
Poor Charles
Lmao 🤣
😅😅
also has a horrible golf swing
@@bobbys4327 It's beyond horrible, alien like. :)
Facts!!!
Magic and Bird made each other better!
Yes they did! I loved it!
Have him Watch. " Making the case - Larry Bird G.O.A.T" i grew up watching the man dominate
I think this is one of the reasons why their careers where shorter then aside from playing for 3 years in school
Legend ❤🎉
