I remember going to see Bert Jansch at the South Shields Custom house years back as a young 20 something..... and seeing and hearing Clive for the first time, with very long hair as i recall .... it floored me and hes been one of my very favourite guitarists ever since, just watching him totally immersed in what hes playing, it sucks you in. A national treasure just like a good cuppa.
What a gift this Man has ! Eric Clapton have u heard Clive Carroll! (I'm sure Clapton is v aware of Mr Carroll. Phenomenal Clive ,thank's so much please ,keep posting such beautiful music 👍🎸
I was devastated to learn of the passing of John Renbourn. John provided a lifetime of musical inspiration and he always motivated me to reach a little deeper on guitar. This musical tribute of yours is wonderful, with a world of subtle sounds that would have made the old Abbot very joyous. Johns boots are almost impossible to fill, but if anyone can fit them it may very well be you. Play on.
Thanks so much Corey. I’m recording an album of his music right now… his unique touch and compositional voice are very inspiring! Great to know you feel it too. Take care, Clive
@@CliveCarrollMusic Will this be an album solely dedicated to John's original compositions? If so, that's awesome! Either way, I am sure it will be special and I can't wait to hear it! Cheers! Corey
@@coreymihailiuk5189 hi Corey. It's a mix of his pieces and tunes he put his unique stamp on. 24 tracks ranging from Pavan D'Aragon to I Know My Babe... Comes out in September. Best, Clive
@@CliveCarrollMusic Hi Clive. Thanks for providing some details on this new record. It sounds awesome! I know you'll make it unique and special with your own magic dust! Counting the days until September!
If there is a saving grace to lockdown...it’s how much time I have to listen to you incredible playing Clive; thank you so much and looking forward to the next time I can go to one of your gigs! 👏👍🤗
You, "The Kid", have awesome command for the guitar. I have your TrueFire course and loving it! I saw John Renbourn, "Abbot", at Mississippi Studios in Portland, OR. before they remodeled. There were two rows of chairs on the stage (stage right). I sat in the first row and John came out before the show and sat next to me and was talking to me and others sitting there. He didn't smell very good but was a true gentleman and full of joy and laughter. I very much enjoyed his show. A wonderful player and human being and well missed! By the way, I'm the number 119th like and there are no dislikes. You are a true master!
Rediscovering this piece. Both songs are great but In the Deep is just absolutely amazing to me. It's an odd connection to make but it really reminds me of an old Swedish artist called Bo Hansson who made a Lord of the Rings inspired album back in the 70s. There's a short track on there called A Journey in the Dark (which is about the journey through Moria). Even though it's very based around a Moog synth, to me it gives a similar vibe as In the Deep in some ways. Music that transports me elsewhere. I don't have enough good things to say about this song, it's a really marvelous composition. Thanks for uploading it, have lisened to it so many times.
try playing this at Great volume on a good hifi and it'll knock your socks off. Beware the bass notes. Im off to get a pint of Abbot to accompany my next listen thanks!!!
Growing up, as I did, in the Essex countryside, Abbott Ale was a staple real ale. Three of four of those used to lead to a particular kind of headache, I remember.
Love these pieces ( and I have your sheet music for them) ... quick question ... in the ‘Abbot’s Hymn’ you are in standard tuning ... but ‘In the Deep’ the 6th is tuned down to B ... so you just play the one note in the 6th string in ‘Abbot’s Hymn’ at the 5th fret on the 6th string ... which is easy given the rest of that measure ... (Sorry to have missed you at Tony’s guitar weekend last year ... but a month in Australia and New Zealand in the fall was my travel for the year).

Did your Bown ever have a pickguard? Do you think it sounds better without ? I have really been enjoying all the walk vids too. Cheers from Tupelo, Mississippi.
Hello! There's a pick guard on this guitar - it's a clear material. Shortly after the guitar was made I was marking the top with nails and scrapes so we added the clear pick guard soon after. Didn't change the sound at all. Thanks for checking out the walk vids. Would love to get back to Mississippi sometime and pick a few tunes for everyone! Clive

I keep coming back to this one, over and over, and forget to say how much I love it.
One of the best guitarist in the world 🙌🙌
There is a longing for something unnameable here, and peace after a hard journey.

An emotional journey there Clive....i'm in a heap!!
Absolutely stunning as always Clive!
Wow 🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m sure my breathing slowed down whilst listening to that. The words space and darkness come to mind.
I often play this while putting my granddaughter to sleep. I doubt she’s ever heard the end!
This is fantastic, In The Deep is high on my list of pieces to learn now.
Just outstanding.
Oh, real recognize real is real.
Another shootout for your shootout, Will! :)

Definitely could drink multiple pints listening to this. Very cool
I miss seeing you play in person!! Hope you guys are doing great. You are my absolute favorite.

Ccould you tell me what guitar is this? I was looking on the web, couldnt find any info.
The guitar is a Ralph Bown OM model.
Low E to C?
Please, little help here.
What is this tuning?
I am moved.
Actually I found it, it's A
Low E to A.
