I have the titanium version of this watch, and my wrist is similar to yours in size and is also flat. I bought the watch two years ago and has it sized to fit snugly on my wrist, and I had the same problem of the lugs cutting into my skin. I added a link back so the watch would wear slightly loose to avoid the discomfort. In the two intervening years, the loose-fit started to annoy me, so I had the extra link removed for the snug fit again last weekend. Magically, the lugs don’t bother me anymore, I can wear the watch a whole day without discomfort. I guess in the last two years my skin has gotten used to the sharp lugs and now is ok with them being closer. This watch is meant to be worn snugly and I am falling in love with it all over again.

This is the ultimate example of a watch looking ridiculous until someone puts it on their wrist. Once on, it looks amazing. Too bad the specs aren't a bit tougher, because it looks like the ultimate badass watch.

I would advise anyone that might be discouraged to go to store and try one on wrist, I have pretty much not taken it off my wrist since I got the brushed version in December, it is by far the most comfortable watch I have worn.

Man, to be honest, the watch may even scratch the skin? Same complaint that some ppl have about the new Speedmaster. Guys come on. Get your damn skins scratched and stop whining. This is stuff for men, it’s not a silk scarf for ladies with delicate necks.

I own chrono GMT, which is 2mm larger. And no issues, very comfortable actually, can wear it all the long. It hugs my wrist like a second skin. But last week I tried 40mm polished steel. And it was nightmare to wear, just like you described. I have similiar wrist size of 16,5cm. It is first time, when I prefer larger one! :)

I understand your issues and its a shame that this watch does not work for you and is so uncomfortable. That being said I do not think this video is 100% fair for people considering this watch. I have a fairly decent sized Rolex collection amongst other brands. I bought this watch in the satin/polished stainless version last October. I have a 7" flat wrist and I experienced the exact opposite of what you experienced. This literally is the most comfortable watch I own. It literally feels like a second skin. My friend also bought one after trying one on and he also agrees that this is his most comfortable watch by a long shot.

  • @davidcty

Found it to be one of the most comfortable watches I've ever had. Much better than my Patek 5712 or AP 15202. I think maybe you have an unfortunate bony prominence on your wrist that somehow precisely and awkwardly contacts the lug in that manner. This is probably not applicable to the vast majority of people, hence your review is purely just a personal rather than an objective one.

The first time I saw the watch at an AD, I thought it looked like ridiculous over the top jewellery. But seeing it on the wrist is quite different, it looks beautiful, surprisingly elegant and just as important it looks comfortable. The movement display back shows this is a serious player, it reminds me of the Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto model.

It's an unappreciated design from Genta in my opinion. The only problem is brand perception - if this watch was under say JLC or Vacheron it would be just as popular as the Royal Oak or Nautilus. I love the design and see it becoming a future classic. So, that's why I picked up the new stainless steel version in a blue dial.

    • @steverobertson6393
      @steverobertson6393 Рік тому +1

Maybe it's too much of the same? Glad you are happy with yours, but Genta = Octagon / Porthole / Sloppy Circle.
It's a fun watch, maybe. It's a silly watch, definitely.
This watch is perfect for the try-hard "artist" or wealthy Bohemian that "gets it" on a level deeper than everyone around them. Problem is, the number of people that applies to has ballooned in our social media age, a time very different than when this watch was designed.
In short, the Octo no longer makes the sense it would have made. After about 1997/8 when you have the rise of home internet, this watch was done for.
      Wear it in good health.

    • @jimmyjay122

@@steverobertson6393 I tried several times to make sense of this comment… but the incoherence makes it near impossible.
This watch was killed off by the rise of “home internet” and social media??

    • @steverobertson6393
      @steverobertson6393 Рік тому

@@jimmyjay122 Thank you for reading my comment and responding rationally given that I did a poor job of explaining myself.
I speak in circles. It's a brain thing.
      And analogies.
When Elvis Presley was on the Ed Sullivan show in 1965 (work with me on that date) he was not shown on television because of his rythmic hip movements.
The overt sexu@l suggestion was something that had never been seen in "modern" history (likely for centuries in the West(.
In 1995, Vanilla Ice was edgy. Significantly more over sexualized(and broadcast) that Elivis's pelvic roll.
      20 years after that?
      Miley Cyrus.
How was she on the scale?
What I'm saying is that there is an always escalating scale when your goal is "be different" but not "be better"
(Ya ever notice how a narcissist never wonders if they? See? They don't Because they aren't thinking it, considering it, or even thinking it's possible they could be wrong or self-centered)
Which brings us to home internet.
We ALL know SO much more about watches, watch companies, watch history than ever in history.
It depends on your age. If you came of age after 2007 this likely can't possibly make sense to you because you don't know time before the internet (so it's like asking a fish to describe the experience of being in water. He can't. It's all he knows).
This watch doesn't try to be "better"
      Sure, yea, it's thin
But it's ridiculous looking like a prop from the original RoboCop movie in the 90s or Back to the Future 2.
      I get it, personal taste,
But garbage can be served up infinite ways. You agree?
Describe the exact subject material of contemporary hip hop. The themes aren't that varied. Women. Drugs. Money. Imported luxury cars.
      That's garbage.
It's why you can make endless cuts on Soundcloud and there's only one Mozart. Actual art.
      Music as art.
Not as a commodity to be traded and tracked in ring tone downloads (probably no longer a thing).
      Sooo,
In order for this watch to make sense, it has to be edgy because the internet makes us all CONSTANTLY "up on this" and that pushes the "art" so far out on the Elvis curve that now your just out there air fuqin and saying words "Cash" "Hoes" "Lambo"
I hope you found this helpful.
Let me know if anything resonated, please.

I was always disgusted by that pop/hiphop culture of Sex & Money since my late teens (back in the 90s-2000s). So I agree about almost everything you said about hiphop and the constantly over-sexualized pop culture. But I’m sorry, this watch does not represent that.
That culture is more represented in iced out watches where they spend several multiples of the watch’s original price in covering it with diamonds.
As for the idea of a new watch being “better”, there is a couple of issues with that:
      1. For example, how many Patek watches in the recent 30 years or so have actually been better than what they used to be? With the exception of grand complication pieces having an extra complication or 2 every decade perhaps. And the same applies to almost all of the haute horology watchmakers.
      2. What even is being better, when it comes to watches? More power reserve? More accuracy? More complications? Less weight? Less thickness? More precious metals? More diamonds? More value retention? Seriously… what is better?
There is an artistic side to how a watch looks. And once something has an artistic side to it, it immediately becomes subjective.
As I see it, you don’t like the watch because you think it’s trying too hard to stand out and be outlandish. Is that correct? Because if so, then what is there to be said about MB&F or URWERK or Jacob&Co or Richard Mille…?
The way I see the Octo, is as a retro design with an ultra modern touch and an overall very Italian piece. And it somehow manages to be flamboyant and delicate at the same time. Some will hate it and some will love it. You think the Royal Oak was loved by everyone when it first came out? It most certainly was not… I still have a hard time accepting the Nautilus for example. Or even the Santos. All of these watches have been iconic for nearly half a century now yet they will never be universally loved.
I say good on Bulgari for trying something different and putting in the effort for challenging the norms of watchmaking whether in terms of aesthetic or structure…

      No sarcasm. No joke.
You took the time and understood exactly what I was saying and I believe I see what you are saying.
      Maybe I even "get it".
I saw it as going in a different direction than you observe and I like what you see.

Great video! Awesome macro shots. This is a watch I really want but deep down inside I felt that despite the thinness, movement, and case design, it might not be as practical of a watch. On impulse, I settled for the Octo Roma instead. But after having that watch for a while, I have to say that it is a great watch. The case shape is not as blocky/bulky (lugs do taper) and it has the same style bracelet as well as a date and a center seconds hand. I will still be on the lookout for a finissimo but I have a feeling I'm not missing much. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future they come out with the finissimo with the octo roma profile.

I have the octo finissimo in satin steel and I find it to be one of the most comfortable watch in my collection. However it might be due to the higher thickness of the satin steel version..

5 seconds a day is way worse than Seiko NH35 would achieve. My best examples don’t deviate for more than a second a day, with a record holders (surprisingly) being UN marine divers, not deviating more than 4-5 seconds a month. So with all other complaints you’ve made, Octo does not look like a luxury product, more like a fashionable design.
Thanks for the review, I’d probably skip this one.

By far, the most comfortable watch I have ever owned. I have the stainless steel version with silver dial. Your wrist looks identical to mine, same bony prominence and same size, and honestly what you are experiencing does not make any sense. The links in the bracelet are rather short, virtually impossible not to get the right comfortable fit. I would advice anybody to go and try this watch before being discouraged by this video. Hafiz could have done a better job in choosing a less biased title...

I think that your watch have those problems and you should replace it with another one imidiately when you saw inperfections and that the watch was sharp. They would replace it with another
without sharp edges and those specs on the hands.I'm sure they would replace it.So sory, but the watch is very comfortable to wear :(

Crazy. I love the look of this watch so much. But I am very picky about fit. And can’t chance it on a 10k watch.

I have the 42mm sketch gmt chronograph in blasted titanium. I’ve had too many watches count and this is the most comfortable watch I’ve ever owned. I’ve had the 40mm as well and also was in love with it. I don’t even realize that I’m wearing it.

First of all this channel is a true hidden gem for watch enthusiasts. Great work as always and stunning chrisp photo. Well done indeed Hafiz and I know this channel will continue to grow. In my opinion all watches are meant to be worn and if this watch is that uncomfortable I would sell it in a heartbeat. That extra special bond is hard to achieve without wrist time no matter how beautiful the design is.

This Bvlgari is the best wearing experience, comparing to Rolex DJ / AP/ Zenith. Sadly I don't have PP

this watch is like the equivalent of a car with a super low ride height because race cars in theory corner faster when they have a lower center of gravity. when in fact in the real world the car has to crawl over any speed bumps, and is super slow at ANY every day driving at all. There's a reason why watches are mostly shaped in a certain way. Unless you're in an arm cast, your wrist shape will constantly change as you move, and such a rigid, wide and square watch won't work unless it's worn with a stretchable wrist band.

I’m wearing the satin/polished steel version with black dial since the beginning of January and i find it more confortable than my royal oak. Anyway i’m glad to know that is a men’s watch and little boys can’t wear it because of their soft skin!

Great review, Hafiz, thank you. Sorry for the comfort troubles with the Octo. To be honest, in my opinion, the watch doesn't look as natural on your wrist. The Royal Oak looks like it was MADE for you, not the case here. Just my opinion.

Of all the thousands of words written about this piece, what does it say about the watch industry that you are the only reliable source of information about this watch? Caveat emptor! Hafiz, you are a treasure and anyone looking to buy a timepiece MUST watch your channel!

Great reviews, and the transparency and honesty is refreshing. Oh boy that gap too. Looks a bit like my PAM 299 when on an extreme diet and somebody took some chisels and started cutting away from the big bold block of steel. All in good fun only.
