    Love the Nitro. If you're a gear head like me you love getting your hands dirty, tuning it just right. opening up the engine for a little port and polish, You can even re port them to give you a powerband on the low or high side. Part of the fun for me is working on them not just plug and play. batteries sucked when I was growing up but a whole new ball game nowadays. but I'll still take the roar of a finely tuned machine of the whine of a battery. Just my 2 cents.

      KJsHotSpot For me electric cars gave me more time to focus on the setup rather than with the engine. Still love the sound of the dinosaurs though.

    Nice comparison. Nitro just evokes speed by way of noise. The electric reminds me of a Tesla - stealthy fast. Ive owned gasoline, nitro, and electric rc cars. My number one complaint was getting the fueled cars running and to stay running. The electric was plug and play. No guessing. Theres something to be said about the noise though. The electric wasnt as fun because it was only a visual experience. The gas and nitros are so much more, and take skill to operate. If yiu want to get into the hobby, buy an electric and learn about wheels, handling, suspension, etc, as they crossover well. Then get a fueled car if you have the skill. If you cant start the fueled car, you still have your electric to play with.

    Both cars are great in my opinion. Electric have sick torque but nitro has higher top speed(I think). Nitro cars makes you sound like your running a chainsaw on wheels. But if all the maintenance on a nitro is annoying, electric is the best choice.

      Adrian Luna yes exactly. Both are fast, and honestly electric is going to have more power due to its nature. However Nitro can be ran all day, and has many other percs on top of the fact that its a tiny nitro engine which is awesome. A ten minute main with the best of the best driving, electric would prob be faster...

    nice vid. A good comparison that so many of us are making when choosing what to run. Its ideal to have both! I have 2 nitro mugen mbx6's and may well e convert 1 just to try it out. A good brushless setup in 1/8 buggy is definitely fast...however a good nitro setup is equally potent on track. The experience of running nitro is definitely more all encompassing/ less sterile.. the sound/fuel/moving parts...elec to me feels easier to be more consistent with, the power more linear, smoother, so easier to control. I used to be en e lover....now i'm more on the fence.nitro can be awesome for a long day at the track, e for a quick blast when time is short. they r both great fun

      It's not dead, it's just become a niche part of the hobby, like 1/12th scale pan cars. You still see nitro powered 1/8th scale buggies, GT and Can-am, and 1/10th scale touring cars because people still like to run those classes. Heck, even 1/10th scale nitro truck looks like it might be making a comeback - Traxxas is bringing back the Nitro Rustler and Jato 3.3.

    • @appv12
      @appv12 9 років тому

      keithrx3c that is what they are doing now. Losi has a 2stroke gas engine in its eight 3.0. @RichardDrinkPepsi 10 років тому +4

      Oh dear... It should run out in roughly 9 mins(if 1/8) or 10-13(if 1/10. Depending on the size of the engine). A good test is to hold tight on the fuel line that is going into the engine. If it shuts down in ~2 sec or less, increase the fuel. If it shuts down in 3-4 seconds, your fuel mix is great on the low-speed needle. If it takes longer, lower the amount of fuel. Only do a 1/8 turn on the needle and do the same test again.
      If you get stuck, use the setting suggestions in the manual and work out from there. If nitro cars get to difficult, talk to your local dealer and they will love to help you out.
      Hope that this helps you with your car :).

    with pro drivers driving both cars I believe nitro would be maybe half a second to 2 seconds faster per lap, and don't forget once all your expensive batteries are dead you gotta go home if you race electric but nitro goes until you're out of fuel and thats one of my favorites about nitro, I'd rather tune an engine than screw with getting a battery to charge at the right mah and voltage and having to deal with all that, and I love the sound and smell of nitro. I would say e-buggies shouldnt be a class but for some people I guess it might be easier. I honestly think its just as hard though.

    • @hakont.4960
      @hakont.4960 3 роки тому

      Welp, I like both nitro and electric myself and your battery argument isn't completely valid. You can bring mutliple batteries and charge them in your car while driving your RC car. It'll drain your cars battery, but it'll take a coupld hours to fully drain a standard car battery so you'll vastly increase the run time this way. Charging batteries is relatively easy, definitely not more complicated than tuning a nitro engine.
      I definitely enjoy driving and tinkering with my Nanda BD8 nitro buddy, it's a lot of fun to drive, but electric is definitely more convenient and reliable. Another advantage with electric is the almost lack of noise so I can drive it in my street late in the evening if I want to.

    Bashing on a track.. Lol
    Just kidding......
    There's several reasons why if never race electric .... It's really up to the driver.... He's the one who makes the difference

    Just an FYI... running all day is NOT exclusive to nitro/gas cars.. only takes 30-40 minutes to charge a lipo battery. A couple of lipos dont cost much more than a gallon of nitro these days. Plus, when that gallon of nitro is empty those lipos will be tearing up the track for another year or two
    Dont get me wrong, I am not bad mouthing nitro/gas in any way, they are great. Just not sure why there seems to be a misconception about only nitro can go all day.

      30-40 minute charge.. 20-30 minute run times.. 3 packs = nonstop running
      Parallel charging board can charge 6 or more batterys at a time

      yep i have over 30+ different lipo pack,and a fast charger,i charge my packs at 2amp and they only take 30 45 mins and i mostly charge 6 pack at a time :-)

    Electric can be annoying like having to charge it over and over (MINE TAKES 7 HOURS TO CHARGE) NItro or gas you just need some extra gas and can go all day

    • @nickwoodruff3321
      @nickwoodruff3321 9 років тому +3

      Lance Kalbach all day until your receiver batts die... Get yourself a good set of lipos and a quality charger and it won't be a lot longer than charging a receiver hump pack, although electric still will never top the fun of rippin on a nitro/gas at the track or bash site lol

    • @JawidSmart
      @JawidSmart 9 років тому +2

      7hr to charge? Seriously? Your charger might have some relation with Internet Explorer LOL
      Mine takes only 20 mins on fast mode which i use while racing. And Ive got 3 Lipos, I NEVER stop playing. One in buggy, one at rest and one on charge. Its goes over and over :)
      I do own a nitro too, its freaking fun :D

      Lance Kalbach & hours? only with RTR wall chargers. Normal balance charger of about 50watts (about 25 bucks) can easily charge 5000 mah in less than an hour.

      They're both fun. I like nitro truggy because its loud, fast, and easy to drive, lol. Electric buggies are fun because you don't have to worry about tuning and can just focus on improving your driving skills.

    I can tell which type of car I would rather work turn marshall duty for. Electric!! Then damn nitro guys that do not know how to tune are the same ones that wreck over & over. And then rev the hell outta the car to keep it running. Then the head or the pipe will burn you. I bring gloves just for that reason. (burns) Nitro sux for turn marshals.

    Ive only ever raced electric but at a high level of open classes but nitro are sound better are more fun to watch and in the uk we run on astro which in my opinion is better than dirt but how come you get some proper jumps lol

  • @andyroosterag
    @andyroosterag 9 років тому

    All down to the driver realy, nitro and battery are both good just depends what you want, had nitro but too much noise for me so limited where to go as where with brushless, no noise hardly and no hastle!!

    • @mikkomansikka5704
      @mikkomansikka5704 9 років тому +1

      Nope. Mostly down to the driver in real. But electric is simply better than nitro nowadays. Benefits from electric, more accurate and customized throttle response, less weight, more power, more torque, more running time, lower gravity point. Those are facts.
      Probally biggest benefit for nitro that you hear clearly how motor responses. (RPM, acceleration), should help on corners and bounces etc.

    • @andyroosterag
      @andyroosterag 9 років тому

      I did say electric is better but still they both have there pro's and cons, with nitro it's the servicing i don't like as where with brushless it is plug and play as long as you have enough batteries you are fine and these can be charged pretty quick now days, now with gas there is a different arguement, less servicing for one! But both nitro and gas are too noisey for me for where i live but if i was to have one it would be a gas guzler but for now i'm fine with my mt4 g3😆

    • @alexmawdsley
      @alexmawdsley 9 років тому

      Andrew Gregory Don't quote me on this but IIRC e-buggies are heavier due to the battery. Definitely a cleaner setup though. I have both.

    • @andyroosterag
      @andyroosterag 9 років тому

      Depends on the battery size i supose, but how much do nitro and gas engines weigh with a full tank, pro's and cons my freind, i would try a petrol one if i had somewhere it wouldn't annoy

    electric is a little more powerful at the beginning..that's the only bad side .. less power after 8-10 minutes ,and nitro can keep on going the same speed just add fuel, it's also faster to load fuel than changing batteries..
