My buddy and I started the first R/C car club I know of back in the early 1980's called the ORCC (Off Road Car Club). We both had some money to burn, so we each bought a Tamiya R/C Wild Willys (just after they were introduced). Everytime we'd get them both together at the mall parking lot, a huge crowd would gather. We then decided to start a club and we got permission to use the lower parking lot at the local high school in Framingham, MA.. We built a half dirt half pavement track and a we bought a bunch of pylons to lay out the track. After a few months of racing every Sunday, we caught the eye of the Framingham newspaper, which boosted our membership to over 100 members. We built a frequency board so no one would race with the same frequency and had an end of year award ceremony. It was one of the most amazing things I ever did in my life.
In the late 80's, my buddy and I started the O.R.C.C. (Off Road Car Club) for anyone that wanted to race R/C cars. This was the first electric R/C car club we had ever heard about, at least in the North East. It started because we both had Tamiya Wild Willys and had so much fun racing them together on the streets, we knew from the crowds that always gathered and asked where could they get one, that they'd love to be involved in this new hobby. Long story short, once the newspapaers printed an article about our club, membership quickly grew to over 100 members within the first year. The car technology quickly grew from simple cars like the Frog and Grasshopper, to the 4wd Hotshot with oil shocks and Team Associated aluminum chassis cars. We even had sponsors and gave out yearly awards. It was a great experience and was loved by all who participated.
@@chicalitrece9409 so true! I'm 44 years old and just got involved into the hobby back in early July 2020. My kids bought me a Slash kit for my birthday that I've turned into a $1000 short course racer and I'm also the proud owner of a Tekno EB48.3!!! Looking at a crawler soon. The best part of RC, is racing with my 15 year son!!! It's never too late to get involved and it's so much fun!!!
Damn! Mayfield turning it up! The progression of Joe B. is nothing short of incredible, the guys come a long way in short time. You can see how his moto experience comes through in his driving. He found a good home at Tekno, those guys work their butts off to make a great car. Same deal with them, long ways in a short time. Good luck to all!
THE ANNOUNCER DOESN'T EVEN KNOW 2 WENT INTO THE LEAD AND ACTUALLY LAPPED A FEW...WOW THE FIRST ONE IS ALMOST BACK WHAT A BAD ASS I COULD SEE HE WAS AGGRESSIVE I LIKE THAT
They look real slow after watching 1/8 scale on road champs for an hour. I said 'look' real slow, not really are slow. They drive these things super fast on the dirt with all the crazy jumps.
