My take is this. Don’t try to get good at tests, get good at the subject. If you know the subject well, you don’t need to do crazy tricks like before sleep hypnosis or eating memory foods before a test.
When I took my A+, I just went in and took it without flash cards or memory exercises because I knew the material very well.
All test taking skills create is bunch of people who can’t design a network because they don’t really understand the subject. I’ve seen countless people with a Network+ who don’t understand the layers. They just repeat things like don’t throw away sausage pizza, but never touched Wireshark in the lives.

I'm not going to stop watching your videos #1 and going to sign up for CBT Nuggets #2. Your videos are a great help, I watched on my way to work to refresh myself after 10 years away from Cisco equipment and now I'm jumping right back into IOS CLI, reading, and testing. I'll have a CCNA in no time. Many thanks for your help!

Hey Keith just wanted to say thank you for all the knowledge you provide for us. I joined the marines and was given a job as a network administrator with no knowledge of anything IT until my Sargents helped me a little. Then I tried college to sharpen my skills specifically with Cisco equipment but the professors were so monotone and it was a very unmotivated experience. That’s what I found out about Cbtnuggets and can honestly say that it takes a lot for someone to really get my attention when it comes to education and you exceed it on all levels thank you again.

Thank you Keith, for the content of recent months. I'm getting caught up in the sheer volume of things to learn and retain for my CCNA. There is so much to recall, I'm really worried that can forget anything important come exam day (November for me, subsequently ). Is it like you say, info over time is key to retaining all you need? I get easily discouraged from reading / studying when I think about the volume and what I need to retain. Regards.

My ADHD makes study for these exams at the last minute, within two weeks. I repeat the same process each year. I already did it with CCNA, three years in a row that I study in depth within the last two weeks and never complete any of the study materials I invested in. I retake the exam for the third time this week and I failed again for the third time studying consistently for a year. The time blindness hits me hard and I continue to time warp the entire year without looking at my CCNA books, labs, and practice exams. Luckily, I had free vouchers for the last three years, each year from my job. But I will have to take it for the fourth time out of my pocket. Although I did manage to pass the A+ and Network+ cramming for the last two weeks, but with CCNA it is impossible.

Couldn't agree more with Keith. My attack plan was 1-2 hours/night. I used cisco press books for my main source of info, packet tracer for my simulations/labs, and videos for supplements. My advice is, Lab it up, lab again, and then again. Make the concepts real, otherwise they are just words on a page.

Hi Taoufik! Thanks for the question. For a brand new person, a good path would be:
      CompTIA A+
      CompTIA Network+
Cisco CCNA (either CCENT first, or the composite CCNA R/S exam)
That is a great path, and much of what you learn in Network+ will be useful in the Cisco CCENT and CCNA R/S as well.

Then you will solve the majority of the simulations and simlet questions. The concepts and technologies are the ones that makes the exam hard in my opinion ONLY. But of course, since you will take the exam on July, take consideration that the exam may be updated by Cisco. So make sure you have strong foundation on networking. You can do it.

Let's start by 1 small habit, and see if you can do it for 3 days straight. Something small, something easy to do, and easy to track. Let me know what you start with. 1 small habit at a time, and then as you see you can do it, other small habits can be added. You can do it. Also check out my videos on this channel about success. There are several gems that you can use, if you would like to, to change and improve. It is worth it to take the small steps. They add up to big differences for you. You can do it.

@@majdqenaya50 although I was joking above... I can relate with you so much. It's not easy to squeeze in the efforts of learning something new. Especially while you're doing your normal job and life. I'm in the same boat but I surround myself with positive people who believe in me. I highly recommend following Keith and maybe a couple of other guys to keep yourself motivated. I just prefer Keith's down to earth and human side. And I used to be EXTREMELY lazy. Never got ahead and finally decided to change my life. It's not easy but you can definitely do it. 👍🏼

Good luck Mo. When do take the exam? I am just shooting a video on exam taking strategies that will be release in a few days. If your exam isn't for a while, the video will be helpful. Either way, I wish you the absolute best on your composite CCNA exam!
