THANK YOU. You're the first instructor to advocate _against_ certification collecting. This is why you're the best, because you care more about your students than your own bottom line.
I passed my CCNA a few months ago. I moved out of a dead-end IT job at a bank to now working at an ISP as a system engineer. Some of the skills I acquired directly apply to my work. There's also a ton I've learned at my new job that would have been extremely difficult to pickup without the fundamental skills/knowledge I got during my CCNA studies. (Jeremy is one of the reasons I passed my CCNA)
This makes me happy. I'm prepping to take my CCNA soon. But I've been working on my soft skills and landed IT jobs already without it. Hopefully I pass, but this really motivated me. Thanks again
Another good cert I would recommend not matter what position you work is CompTIA Security+. This will teach you A LOT about security fundamentals that EVERYONE should know.

Thank you. You are right, I remember when I finished my ccna I got a job in a small isp company and I learned a lot from here some from my course and some from real-world experience
Jeremy, this video shows you have great character. "Certification junkies" would be the ideal customer for a businesses like CBTNuggets and Veeya. It's good that you are encouraging people to leverage the certification they have achieved and take care of themselves. They will become life long customers and referrers down the road.
Thanks for your explanation, I won my CCNA in December and worried about the CCNP, I think I will consolidate more the knowledge acquired with a lot of labs
I have a lot of real experience in what I do in Industrial Systems Process Control Automation but less formal training, so it’s backwards for me traditionally. My plan after I accomplish getting my CCNA has been to increase my knowledge of Industrial Automations as I do not work in Enterprise IT so to speak but in Industrial Process Automations Controls. Cisco and Rockwell Automations has a unique partnership as it relates to Industrial Networking Architecture design and implementation. This Cisco has an Industrial CCNA which in the updated Certs is being removed no idea why. That knowledge base is very important to what I do and will pursue that for some time to build on my CCNA. Wireless CCNA will likely be down the road as for future CCNA.
ok so now that the whole damn world has changed... Im studying for CCNA, mandatory quarantine, lost job, have a nest egg, this is a complete career change. @Jeremy thanks to your Lessons i have finished my CCNA R&S last year,i am already working as a Network Engineer. and now getting ready for the new CCNP ENCORE exam.
I'm a high school student, and I have completed my CCNA course but haven't received the certificate yet. Along the way, I also learned Linux and some programming. I really want to land a job as soon as possible-preferably an online one. However, I’m not sure if people would hire a high school student without a certificate.

Bonjour Jerome! Merci beaucoup pour votre video! :P That's my middle school French for you right there. Anyway, to answer your question: Spousal support and pell grants have funded my mid-life return to college. Question back at you: Once I get my ICND2 (3 more weeks, fingers crossed) and dust off my resume, how much can I expect at an entry level position with my CCNA? What is the jumping off point here?
Would be nice if companies would even consider me for a job since most jobs require several years of experience for entry-level jobs and are paying a barely livable wage in a large metropolitan area...
Jeremy!!! I have exactly that situation, I got my Ccna last year 🤘🏼 saw your videos you are the best, now I don’t know with all changing if the new Ccnp are going to be even harder to get :( I was going to go for the ccna voice or security, but now what? 😂 do you know if the new ccnp are more hard than before? I work as Automation tech in Food Industry soo need to know more about networking soo I will try CCNA to get complete in the field or at least know how to fix or help solve issues in Industrial Automation Networking.
Jeremy, I passed my CCNA earlier this year with a lot more experience than I needed, I had already spent 4 years as a network technician and a year as a network engineer. I was held back a lot by monetary constraints and the fear of failing (after everyone I know who had CCNA told me I would fail 4-5 times before passing...) I am currently employed as a Network Engineer and feel as if I have worked way past most CCNA topics. Should I move forward to CCNP? Are there any other certifications you would recommend?
Hi Jeremy, I totally agree with this. Nowadays you will hear people take this AWS cert, or this cert just because. In the company where I work for, we don’t use AWS. However we use Cisco, some HP, Palo Alto and F5. So I focus on learning these technologies instead to be successful in my current position and help the organization that’s paying me.
unfortunately this is exactly what happened to me, i carried on with my university studies and i completely forgot everything, i couldn't apply to any jobs at the time because in my country the ccna is mostly theoretical and i felt not confident/competent enough to apply for jobs related to network , now i regret it but i don't wanna think that i did it for nothing, is there a way to update my knowledge on it, or possibly some sort of training ?
One needs to work weekends for free /or low rate at doing this for some company for experience. I did not do this because I made a lot of money on the weekends. All my work is down the drain. I would have to start over. 🥲now been to long.
Hi! I passed my CCNA in October and moved to Denver at the beginning of January.. Maybe I followed this advice subconsciously, but this is exactly what I did. The CCNA probably was like "hey this guy actually knows SOMETHING" and I got in the door as a computer technician (I could've done this exact job as a senior in high school, but oh well, it's in the industry kind of and pays well). However, I want to continue studying. I have seen that getting the CCNP is basically a piece of cake after the CCNA and I'm wondering if I should get the CCNP before studying cyber security (what I'm actually interested in)
I renewed my CCNA last month, my plan was to take it before February (pure pride), take an ITIL while CCNP is not out yet, then aim for the new CCNP Enterprise
1:33 ya...just jump into a career. I’m gonna let everyone know right now that doesn’t know, you don’t just get a certification and get a job. I have CCNA as well as FIVE CompTIA certs, and an associates degree in computer science. My resume was done in a professional environment thanks to my military background and for every 50 jobs or so that I apply to, I get 1 call back. I shake my head when I hear people talk like getting into the IT industry is just as simple as applying for a help desk job with some customer service background.
I'm stuck in a position where I'm making a decent salary but there is no future or growth, I personally was interested in obtaining my CCNA just to go in a different direction into something that would potentially have more growth BUT my current job has little to do with networking. So if/when I attain the CCNA, I would be starting from scratch and possibly be taking a hit on my salary. Curious if you (or anyone) would recommend this path and is it typical to be hired with ONLY a CCNA? I have general IT experience, but never worked an IT job before. I don't have a college degree in Computer Science.
Genius advice against the certification junkie mentality. Backup your certs with at least some experience in order to round up your portfolio. Don't get stuck into the book/technical exclusive loop. #subscribed

I have several years helpdesk experience and am studying for CCNA. Assuming that I take the exam and pass, what are my chances of landing a networking job?
It's an impossible question to answer. The biggest part of "landing a job" (any type) is your connections and personality. Technical expertise is a MUST, but even shortcomings technically can be overcome by your ability to communicate your excitement and willingness to grow.
Great advice!!! I have had the CCNA since April of last year. Unfortunately, all the job postings in my vicinity are asking for 3+ years of network engineering experience. When I apply, I sometimes get called, but once they realize my only experience is from home labs/Cisco Network Academy, I'm eliminated from consideration. How am I to get experience without the job?
