    I just purchased the launch edition 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love mine. although it is a little underpowered specially when you have 5 people in the vehicle and the AC flying. Definitely looks way better in person than it does on video and pictures.

    I purchased a 2019 in January. It's a V6 Model Black exterior and wheels and I love it. Also my seats are Black with a Gold Color in the middle. This 3rd option interior only comes with the SEL 4 Motion model. I never thought I'd own a Volkswagen. I don't even like the name Volkswagen so I call it "VW" only, LoL. Three comments I have that you did not mentioned in your test drive. #1) There are 4 ways to open the trunk via (Key Fob, Drivers Door, Rear Door, and by Kicking your foot under the rear bumper). #2) There is extra cargo space under the rear carpet where the spare tire and sub woofer is located. Finally I do have only one complaint. I am 6'6" Tall with a size 15 shoe. I've noticed that it seems that both the brake and gas pedal are mounted slightly more to the right than any other car I've ever driven. This along with my foot size sometimes this causes me problems going from the brake to the gas due to the tight squeeze. Is it just me or do you agree??? Thanks for the review as always, I am a subscriber of yours and enjoy your opinions.

    If you've got a power lift gate you can also open it by having the keys on you, the vehicle must be locked but then you can wave you foot under the rear bumper and itll open on its own for you.

    Great video. The pilot has a good ride quality even if its not so practical or sporty as the atlas. It also has cheaper quality plastics than the atlas but still a good car. I love this New atlas, great practicality, sportier than most, better quality than most, great ride quality than most; even though it could be a little wobbly on high speeds and on uneven roads. Its all around a good family car.

    Thank you for another wonderful review. I am currently shopping for a three row SUV so I have enjoyed your work. I have I have two questions:
    1. Did this vehicle seem underpowered? I keep hearing this from some reviewer's. I am not sure I understand it from my own experience. I have a 2007 Honda pilot which has 240 hp and he has never felt under powered in 10 years of driving.
    2. I have read elsewhere that the atlas drives much better in sport mode. Did you notice this during your test drive?

    dave many other reviews on this vehicle states the suspension is really bad and you said it was a smooth ride and there's one part at the end of your video where your test driving and went over a bump or something and it looked like you were experiencing an earthquake. from all the other reviews I think with all the pot holes in new York city and bad streets this vehicle would be an uncomfortable ride and I'm seeing the gas is more of a v8 due to the car being almost 2 tons so if its the only vehicle in the family and your driving it to work making multiple stops during the day its also going to be costly. I am not impressed by the rims they look like a shield of some sort not my favorite. that line on the side distinguishing the vehicle turns me off sour to my eyes its akward. but a good start to vw on the 6 seater.

    I think in this category 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe has the better looking exterior than any other competitor. However, size wise I think VW and Honda have bigger sizes than others. Powertrain wise Santa Fe beats all of them. Refreshed 2017 Santa Fe is the best choice compare to other vehicles in this category, closely followed by Highlander and Pilot.

    I think VW should've designed this vehicle with a little more luxury and performance. Putting the Atlas a notch or two behind the Audi Q7 3.0T, similar to the Honda Pilot Elite vs the Acura MDX, would've generated more interest and potential sales.

      Really? When is the last time you saw a brand new Touraeg on the road, in North America at least? VW hasn't updated the Touraeg in several years at least. This new Atlas will be their flagship SUV in North America since I can't speak for Europe and Asia. The Atlas is roughly the same size as the Touraeg with similar interior space and three row seating. There's really no need for the Touraeg model at this point.

      If you use an expressway to get to the mall you will want to have the power to smoothly merge with traffic. If you have the vehicle filled with a soccer team and their gear the extra weight can tax the engine even more. In short there may not be such a thing as too much power but the vehicle can definitely have too little power.

    • @sic22l
      @sic22l 7 років тому +7

      If you need a car that does 0-60 in 5 seconds to smoothly merge in traffic and you cannot do this in a car that does 60 is 7.5 sec - get some driving lessons or an Uber.

    6yr. / 72K Mile warranty is nice & probably will be needed. V6 needs more power, the 2.0L is already painful in the '18 Tiguan.

    • @sic22l
      @sic22l 7 років тому +1

      More power? Do you really need over 300hp and 0-60 in less than 6 seconds to go to a mall? 2.0l is completely different than in the Tiguan.

      @skirmich 7 років тому

      Who buys the biggest engine because it doesn´t want more power? Do you understand Engine Choices at all "sic22l"? Anyone that just wants to go to the mall does not need a 6000lb, 7 passenger, Full Size SUV.

    • @sic22l
      @sic22l 7 років тому

      You can go to a mall with your family.

    • @skirmich
      @skirmich 7 років тому +1

      Let me just get my point:
      The 2G Acura MDX weights around 4500lbs, Seats 7 and has more Cargo Space with Better Fuel Economy than the Atlas and has a 300HP & 275lb/ft Engine.. BACK in 2007!!! And it did 0 to 60 in around 7s which is not mind blowing fast but at least it was pretty good for a 5 Speed Auto.
      But the Atlas gets V8 MPGs with Terrible Performance before loading it!.. Its not the mix you want at all.
      Underpowered Engines usually means sacrificing Performance for MPGs! But the Atlas has terrible MPGs for its weak engine which means the engine is really struggling. The Atlas engine choices hover from WORSE to BAD.
      For its massive weight it seriously needs a V8 or at least a Turbo V6.

    Done with Volkswagen. I had a 2012 PASSAT TDI which was returned to VW under the TDI scandal. Currently own a 2016 Touareg TDI, which will eventually be returned to VW as it is not currently able to meet California CARB and EPA standards.
    The Atlas is a year too late and is just plain boring.
    The fit and finish is sub-par compared to the Touareg. Yes, it's less money but one does get what they pay for. The Atlas gets pretty lousy Gas milage when compared to the TDI TOUAREG. Where are additional USB ports and adapters. Also the lid can't be closed once a USB port is utilized. Slow on the technology aspect, VW. So I simply don't see any advantage to the Atlas other than a cramped 3rd row set. As for the Touareg, it will fade away as a gas burning SUV leaving the TDI owners holding the bag. Even if VWOA throws money my way and fixes the emissions software, the vehicle has depreciated to the point of simply being auctioned off. Shame on Volkswagen.

    • @2wheeledbeemer
      @2wheeledbeemer 7 років тому +4

      Lance J. Danks As a Touareg TDI owner, I get what you're saying... but have you actually tried the Atlas? I'm 6 feet tall and can confirm that the 3rd row is not "cramped". In fact, it's the best I've seen from the current crop of three-row crossovers.

      Luc Legere: Yes, I have compared both vehicles. Even if I give you the third row (space) seat there is just not enough improvements that would encourage me to run down and trade in my TOUAREG TDI for the Atlas. The Atlas is like most SUVs when it comes to poor mpg.
      Do you plan on turning in your Touareg TDI or take the payments? I have opted for the payments although here in California I would be surprised if the updated software would pass our stringent EPA regulations.

      Luc Legere Chevy traverse 3 row

      J Rock Actually, the Atlas has slightly better 3rd legroom than the 2018 Traverse; but you're right that the Traverse has better hip and shoulder room.

      I currently drive a Touareg TDI too. You cannot ignore that fact that the Touareg handles amazing as a 5000 pounds SUV. Its ride quality is very smooth and very stable even at above 100 mph. As for the Atlas it is basically a stretched Golf because it is based on the VW MQB platform and it is terrible at handling and comfort. I would never buy an Atlas.

    What the hell, it looks like a bigger, clumsier Touareg. And what an un-inventive interior... sheesh

      VW is the largest global OEM; they are somehow connected to almost ALL OEMs on planet Earth!

    The exterior looks so damn bland. But I'm sure Bob, Barbara and their 3 brats will love this big boring bread box of an SUV !! VW please spice up your interiors with a thing called color. It exists and it's readily available !! A two tone black & saddle interior or black & red or tan & taupe or beige and dark blue would jazz things up a bit and not look so...shall I say, rental-ish inside !

    Looks nice a functional but c'mon VW, the design is awful. It actually makes the Pilot look interesting. Take a look at the Mazda CX-9 and then look back at this and you discover the very definition of vanilla. There's ways to make simplicity interesting, this isn't.

      Sorry, I didn't expect a gay to be reviewing cars. I'm still trying to get used to non-stereotypes in places where they're not expected. It's my problem, not yours. I have a gay friend who is an industrial welder, and it took a while for me to understand that you're not all hairdressers, decorators or dancers, etc. I'm not intolerant, just a little ignorant. But I'm trying!
