I was 14 when this album came out. I remember listening to it and being absolutely blown away. There was nothing even remotely close to this sound in 97. I have argued that this is their best album for years, and I'm glad that after 26 years people are finally giving this album the respect it deserves. I think this album needed to marinate so people could see just how ahead of it's time this album was. I love the galactic sounds throughout the album.

“all the unborn chicken voices in my head” is because Thom is a vegetarian/vegan and the food industry’s treatment of animals haunts him

This is such an amazing album! I’m so happy you’re finally doing a reaction to it! If you’re interested in doing more Radiohead, I cannot recommend In Rainbows enough.

  • @jorgekech

let down have alot replay value

  • @gavinoleary4550

Incredible album but in my opinion it’s there 3rd best album.. In Rainbows and Kid A are better.. you should do both, you’ll love them

Thats a mellotron on Exit Music not a real choir, good catch. The insane thing about this album is that almost each song is going to be a favourite of certain fans. The soundscape of this album is so deep that many of these songs will bring you back even if the first listen it doesn't feel that way (Let Down). Also I'm seeing a lot of people come back to this album beacuse simply put it's crucially relevant to the times and will continue to do so in the upcoming era.

Karma Police (to my understanding) is about a character judging others for their "social crimes" and then realizing at the end "whew, for a minute there I lost myself" that by being judgemental, they were just as guilty.

Dude, Let Down is possibly the best and most musically complex songs that Radiohead has ever written (and possibly one of the most complex pop/rock songs ever written). The genius is in how you don't notice. Just try and follow the guitar paterns as they layer and fit in to the rhythm, it's nearly impossible to do in your head. Musicologists have been trying to break this song down for over two decades. Give it some credit.

Dude, you don't get it, Let Down is a timeless classic. I hope some day will come and you " gonna grow wings" and there will be "a chemical reaction".

  • @garethcampbell8415

I'm surprised a little about your comment about relistenability for Let Down, just because every time I listen to it, I hear something new. It's also sort of become a comfort song for me, just because of the sad but slightly hopeful vibe. I'm glad you enjoyed listening to it, though!

it's always interesting to me hearing people's first reaction to let down. it seems like everyone feels that it's kind of just okay (relative to the rest of the album, that is) at first but then later comes to like it as one of the best on the album.

Paranoid android was 3 different songs coming into one but the feeling is the same

  • @enygma7725

Omg today I thought like: "What if I left a comment recommending Ok Computer to Nacho, maybe he'll look into it", and you posted this video damn...

I really started to love this album when I understood the meaning and context of each song, the amount of little details here is crazy, mini musical metaphors that add a lot to the meaning like blip blops in the end of let down that imitate the collapse of a machine, or how Thom yorke sings about surviving a car crash in the opener song ‘airbag’ and in the final song ‘The tourist’ he says to past version of himself ‘hey man slow down’

Well now you have to listen to their follow up album Kid A. OKC made a huge splash in the music world when it came out and everyone was wondering if Radiohead could do it again. Kid A surprised everybody by not only proving that OKC wasn't a fluke, but because it was also so different. Releasing Kid A after OKC was one of those special unique moments in music that had people talking.

A really great episode that utilizes Exit Music (For A Film) is the episode Shut Up And Dance from Black Mirror (season 3 episode 3). The song was written for Romeo & Juliet but I think it was only used in the credits and not in an actual scene. So Black Mirror is a great alternative.

  • @infertype

If I recall correctly, the “choir” on Exit Music (For a Film) are “samples” used on a Mellotron (very early sampler that used tape loops).

  • @lilrobbie2k

Exit Music (For a Film) was written for the 1996 movie Romeo and Juliet w/ Leonardo Di Caprio. While Radiohead were on tour with Alanis Morissette, Baz Luhrmann, who directed the movie, sent them a tape of the last part of the film and asked them to write some music for the closing credits (hence the name "exit music").

Airbag has to be one of the best album openers of all time. Epic way to start off.
