I bought the game knowing nothing about it, my dad had MechWarrior 2 in the 90's, and it brought back memory's of me thinking that was the coolest game! So I started MechWarrior 5 and could not get through the tutorial, so I turned to UA-cam and watched you ace it! 🤘I continued to watch your playthrough and learn about the game and I was hooked! Once, I had a similar start too, with only one mech. I used to take missions that I had extra allies (battleground, beachhead defense) or defense missions (base's HP for "armor" sharing). Recon and scout could also be decent ones. The best was beachhead defense, iirc, coz it also gave a LOT of salvage too. I got my 2nd mech from that.
Hey, I like your Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries videos and I'm wondering if there is any chance that you will also do a playthrough of one of the older titles of the series. Maybe as a special before the release of Mechwarrior 5: Clans. Also thank you for your mod collection in Steam. A huge upgrade to the base game :)
20 and 25 ton mech are death traps for your pilots, and they get cored by a stiff breeze (loosing the very expensive engine), recomend you strip and sell them and only use 30-35 ton mechs, panthers and jenners are the best (dropping a couple of jump jets or the srm 4 to maximize armor and running them with 4 mediums + cooling. my experience is that the 20 and 25 ton mech all are a waste of money and parts to use (but good salvage if they retained the engine moneywise) it is just better to not run those kind of mechs and rather sell them to invest in a heavier mech that can survuve more than 5 seconds of mech to mech combat an as allways keep up the good work -Specter out-
Teammates do almost nothing and cost you a fortune, so they are basically just a luxury for the very late game when you have more C-bills than you know what to do with. Even then, I have never fielded more than one mech at a time and I never will.
high tier pilots witl clan lrms and lasers are very good in defensive missions (peeppering your targets from a nearby hill with 3 stalker 3f leach oaded with 60-80 clan lrms wil murder any target in 1-2 alphas (awsome 8q are also great for those kind of missions with range of 1000+ meters their fire will give you a heads up of where the enemies are faster than the sweeps from the dropship.
I don't think you turned on v2 salvage when you first started this play through, thats why you are not seeing partial mech salvage at the end of each mission. Also don't forget that free wolverine on Valentina, its not that far away from where you are
I am an old dude, and I await new Baradul mechwarrior 5, MWO build videos, Battletech, roguetech, etc like I used to long ago await shows. And this is so much better because by me watching, clicking a silly button, and ranting, /ourguy/ gets paid, and I would rather have Baradul get paid off me watching than some random ad executive who would sneer at me.

Yeah...I learned the wrong way too that you just do NOT take 20-25 tonners as a second mech...they are either kamikaze's in Commandos or dancing but still dead flies like the Flea.....(0.o)
Hey Bara, ADHD or not, we have all made mistakes, even w/o the extra stress of recording ourselves. Name me one guy who has played MW5 and hasn't done the classic mistake of accidently buying one item (weapon,etc), instead of selling it.
Would someone be kind enough to explain to me what mods certain equipment that Baradul has available for purchase at the store comes from please? for example all pirate weapons (P), grenade launchers, artillery..... I downloaded all the same mods as him, everything activated, and impossible to find them, even in instant action :/
fleas are just a medium laser hit away from getting cored, locust are like 2,5 hits away, they are both just expensive ways of dismissing your pilots (since getting injured could give you negative traits)

on single mech starts i usually dont build 20-25 tons since it is wasted money and a huge risk for yout pilot, i do pick them up as salvage though since they are cheap pick for money and some parts but generally second mech allmost allways a panther, wolfhound or any medium mech i get (sans the cicada cause it is worse than most 35 tonners anyway)
Sorry but I just have to speak up and say that your Mechs armor being gone and having your structure exposed does NOT mean you have been Crit! In terms of Crits it means you are now open and more likely to be Crit than you were with armor in that location.
Just wanted to add some info I've noticed in your vids. You always seem to have issues with lance mates not engaging like you expect. I believe this is due to your weapon groups. As you setup groups based on your use with keyboard and mouse, which is great for you, not so much for the lance mate AI's. If you setup their groups with 1 being first use to 6 being last use ordering in mind, you'll probably find they are using their weapons better and engaging a lot faster. I've ran into this a lot with my runs. After changing weapon groups around to give proper use to lance mates, they tent to go in without issues even without me giving commands, just using the AI controls from 330's Pilot overhaul and TTRulez mods. Its very entertaining watching you but have always wondered why you never realized that your weapon groups for you are affecting your AI pilots. Lends a lot tot he mindset that what is good for me is not always good for everyone, specially AI pilots =). Keep up the awesome content!
There's nothing wrong with you, just different. (in case you have ADHD) I can recommend the channel “How to ADHD” and the book of the same name by Jessica Mccabe, they helped me immensely to understand myself better.

Wasn't the rule to not use any reward mechs?
i think he meant those like goblin and the like not rewards from actual missions (since that is how you get many of the legendary mechs)

Let AI pilot in Flea or Locust is big risk, it is most likely death sentence.
