After a few years as a crew member, this was my the start of my second year as an official. Oh the stories . . . Still have my uniform. Actually still have all my officials uniforms, except for the last year because of sponsor changes. Gave those back since they could still be used. Shane got boned, the camera crew had to do something to the in-car. Either they didn't snap the fasteners on the window, or due to the wreck everything was a little off and they didn't fasten it right. Frank Kimmel turned the car he was driving over to Rick Sheppard, because the car was Rick's. Kimmel wrecked his car earlier in the week. He was going to run the whole season, but Rick wasn't, so they put 02 on the car. Kimmel got the points, Sheppard got the guaranteed starting spot, due to owner points from '95.
In this race you have two of the NASCAR craftsman trucks series driver's Mike skinner and Ron barfield jr. And one going to be at Talladega this year and that's going to be Jack Sprague.
There are websites out there who have all that documented and for NASCAR there’s even a book with the statistics for every race since the beginning under the NASCAR name.
That's the way I always remembered her. BTW, the little girl Tim's holding . . . she's put in her laps at Berlin Speedway, where Tim, and Johnny Benson, Sr. and Jr. a bunch other got their start.

You'd be surprised how much time I spend trying to find shots from some of these races lol. Glad to know the work wasn't in vain!
@David Pietras thanks, man! No lie, I've put in SOOOOO much time over the years trying to hunt down pictures from each race lol.

The day before Bonnett died, the car I was working on broke the wall right where Neil hit. Our driver walked away . . . strange how things work out.

this is my favorite race.
Purvis finished 23rd in the Busch race and 12th in the cup race a few days later.
Arca Brakes?
Can you imagine being outqualified by that Shane Doles car? ARCA back then was a series full of wrecked cars before the green flag fell.
I wish someone would post qualifications for races like this one

The heck was goin on with Tim Steele's wife mouth during the post race interview? Was she wearing a mouthguard or is that her natural grill?
He was married to an unpopular model
