I could definitely give you that, Kew is an incredible talent and very satisfying to watch but I just find Tyler so impressive considering his age! We're living in a good time right now of young drummers carrying on the torch 🔥
I love Tyler’s playing and think that his TOOL covers are up there with some of the best. However, John Kew is a more polished drummer, and like Carey (and seemingly Tyler too), he understands how to get the perfect tone out of his drums without adding anything externally. Also, next to DC, John has one of the best sounding snares I’ve ever heard.
Unfortunately that's what a lot of drummers and musicians have to do now. What's the newest band that has record sales in general? Frees is playing for Foo Fighters now which is one of like two rock bands in the mainstream. Fall Out Boy being the other. We're in a sh!tty time for mainstream rock despite there being a lot of good rock coming out.
@@84jdgregory Sadly, it's impossible for bands to make any money from record sales. Once a digital copy is sold, it's copied to oblivion. Only a fraction of the albums are paid for, the rest are just stolen. But that's about to change with the blockchain. By using NFT albums new albums won't be able to be copied. One album sold will equal one copy unless you buy an original from the creator. So album sales will matter again, and with NFT's, there's no need for a record company to be in the middle, as artists can now record their own music and distribute them on digital platforms by themselves, which means even more money for artists.
Pneuma is so magical, but honestly, as a non-drummer who doesn't know shit, this seem SOOOOOOO much harder. It just looks like the timing and rhythms are constantly changing in ways I didn't realize when I've listened to the song. To put it simply, Pneuma is a ton of fun to watch him drum and looks complicated, but this one makes my jaw drop to the floor.
🤦🏽♂️ this is incredibly impressive and humbling. The focus it takes alone, the patience to stay in time and the memorization is ridiculous man. Fuckin killer.
F***kin amazing....you played really well. Im a drummer....learnt by notes at age 13 and gave it up to fovus on studies & career by age 16. Never bought a drumkit after that nor played for any band except for playing on 2 tracks with the band that I hired to play for my wedding. Hope to buy a drumkit at some point in my life but i dont think i can be as good. You're quite good at it.....the kit sounded amazing on headphones even though youtube audio quality would suck some life out of the recording quality. All the best to you in whatever you're doing at the moment and in the future.
Tyler, Thank you. You do all of this for free and the years to get here. I watch a few of your videos and find myself behind my kit practicing. Thanks!! If you can do it, so can I :)
Got me hooked. Incredibly hard cover to pull off and you played it like you wrote it. Wow. Loved the over head shots so us mortal drummers can see what the hell is going on. Like i said im hooked.
I just don't know how they do it. Drummers are freaks of nature. And this guy blows my mind. You can te ll when he enters that zone. Well done young man.
Absolutely wild, both the original song & the cover. What an age we live in that both exist. As a drummer, when I hear this song, my response is, "Nope. No thanks. Bonkers job, but that metering requires way more investment than I'm willing to make to play a song..." lol
You have insane skills. Now the real trick is composing your own stuff. Replication is so hard sometimes. Original composition is another story. Go forth and conquer. Unreal 😮
Amazing covers!! Would love to see a video going over your gear and setup and sample pads and recording gear! Keep up the great work!! Looking forward to more!
Fantastic, you should be happy with that. Admittedly I don't watch your videos that often because you make me jealous, but that was a massive improvement from the last video of yours I watched. Rock on man 🤘
My guy you are killing it. It only gets better every time you upload something. The music you cover is not for initially happy people. Please keep doing what you are doing because you are obviously very good at it but also be happy, stay balanced, enjoy!
Covering all this Danny Carey will improve your skills so much, not like you aren't a beast already. Your video editing and sound quality are also very good. You definitely pay great attention to detail. Keep up the good work, you'll get far in life.
This is fucking ridiculous. The brains of people like you just work differently than they do for us mere human beings. Never stop doing what you're doing, we're all here for you!
Tyler - I never comment on UA-cam but feel like I need to with you. You are extremely blessed to be able to do what you do. And have the work ethic and passion to match. Perfect storm my friend. I wish you all the best and have no doubt you are going to succeed in life. Keep crushing it and I know we all appreciate you sharing with us!
Normally I'm not a fan of covers on UA-cam because it comes off to me as "look, I can do that incredible drum parts that you like too!". However, with this video it's different for me. It's quite simply an excellent performance and irrespective of whether I could watch the original over this cover version I think I can judge this video and performance based on it's actual merits. Forget being an accurate cover. It alone is an excellent performance filled with rhythmic precision, musical dynamics and best of all authentic conviction and feelings behind every stroke. Excellent watch and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this guy's rendition of a prog drum classic. I'm happy I watched
Damn little brother. Portnoy only had a small window to learn this song. You kicked portnoys ass. Definitely made Danny proud. Keep on kicking brother.
This young lad has undoubtedly took the crown from John Kew as the best Tool cover drummer!
Definitely on par with Kew. Did Kew do Invincible?
@@ShannonSpurrellKew did Invincible and it is absolutely incredible. It’s the closest we can get to seeing DC play it himself.

Tyler's ability to nail these complicated polyrhythms is mind blowing 😮🥁🤘
Thanks brother! I still have lots to learn but I really appreciate it!
@@tyvisser you've definitely inspired me to keep on practicing to get better as well 👏
His timing is as close to Dannys I've seen
Fucking awesome to see new generations of people loving tool.
His full album play throughs are amazing.
Thanks man, I'm glad you enjoy!

Thanks brother, I really appreciate the support!
Those toms sound fucking godly bro

Unfortunately not yet haha!

You're a pretty good drummer, but I feel like you need to start playing harder songs.
ahahaha
Lawl
I was about to flame this comment until I saw the sarcasm 😮💨
I seent a clip somewhen where Danny said this song and The Grudge were the hardest Tool songs to play.
Ha😂😂
and so another octopus was born
how you went from 1 room mic placed in the corner of a room to a full blown high quality is mind blowing man
Thank you, my goal is to keep improving!
The time sigs breathe, perfectly. No other words from me. Golly.
My favorite tool song behind Rosetta. Pretty sure Danny said this was the most complicated song he’s played. Dang dude. Killed it.
this drum piece is a near-impossible nut to crack! A testament to your effort and talent
Only thing missing was the Boston Celtics jersey. Outstanding!
Or the Kansas Jayhawks jersey 😂🤘🏼
Reminds me of Josh Freese when he was younger. This kid has a bright future as a session/tour drummer.
Thanks so much, that really means a lot! I'm not counting on it but that would be pretty cool!

Create your band, what a masterclass
Can’t wait for that Q and A

These Tool time signature hurt my brain, let alone trying to perform this insanity on a drum kit. Baffling😮
If he isn't the number one drummer in the world idont know who is..gobsmacked by ability

5:31 Mastering the art of correcting mistakes and carrying the band (whether they’re freat or dumb) on his shoulders is a drummer’s responsibility 👍
