Today is the day. I've released my first EP on iTunes. Included "WILD BOY" as a drum less Version. You can easily purchase and download the tracks on Itunes and Amazon. Listen, enjoy it and hit the drums to the click-tracks. :-)

Best iTunes purchase in a while! Thanks for releasing these. Playing along definitely challenges me to be a better drummer. I hope to do a cover of each of them eventually... if I can figure them out lol.

I'm really disappointed by some of the comments on this video. She is not a great 'woman drummer'-- She is a uniquely talented musician, period. If some of you dudes are feeling like you got shown up by a girl then hit the practice shed and outdo her.
Phenomenal musicianship and beautiful technique. I might be switching the Moeller technique after seeing this.

    • @Adjacent_2

I definitely understand your concerns, but keep in mind I feel many of these guys are attempting to rectify long-held stereotypes (i.e. most drum kit players are male) and they're just expressing it in less than ideal ways. We also should not overlook the fact that she is a female drummer. That's akin to saying you "don't see race." The stereotype in the past has been that kit players are predominately male. Seeing her as a woman breaks this stereotype and affirms for young girls out there that the kit is an awesome instrument that could be a great home for them to express their creativity and individuality.

It's just a little mistake during video edition. I think she just played along to a previously recorded track and a lot of video takes were made prior to editor to select some parts and compose the video.

    • @jeedrums
      @jeedrums 10 років тому +1

I will use the google translator to talk with you.
Not a camera error or anything logically as an art studio and work, she not only used one track to record audio and video, the audio was first recorded and then she recorded the image reproducing what she did in the recording, usually takes more than 4 lanes to exit a perfect song in a studio, but one thing I say, she plays very much!

It amazes me how many of you are surprised that a girl can be good at drums... Sure, music has been a primarily male-dominated field, save for vocalists. But I don't believe you have to be a man to be able to infuse the human emotion into an instrument.

I know that historically speaking it was a man's thing in most cultures, only because, well, almost EVERYTHING was a man's thing.
If anyone has an issue with female drummers, they need to look up two names: Cindy Blackman Santana, and Sheila E.

Wow Woman!!! You are not only one of the best 'female' drummers I have seen and heard, you are one of the best drummers I seen and heard "period". So, how did you learn to drum like that. You must be schooled/trained at one of the drumming schools/college's/Institute's.? You are just too technical to not be trained in some form or fashion. Sick girl, sick skills, chops, etc. I'll be watching you, keep em coming. Oh, do you have a really cool fill for ending a song, not too technical but something that would make you go, hhhuuummm, did you see what he just did at the end of that song. I don't put big endings on all songs, just a few throughout the evening. Any ideas for me Anika? Wow, awesome drummer.

At :14 , :30 , :48 , :1:10 , 1:17 , and 1:23 you can see one of them, and i only point this out because it could make a huge sound difference if they were actually screwed in more. Dustin Sweeney
She changed the groove by applying metric displacement, BPM didn't change at all, otherwise the rest of the instruments would've done so, it's called "rythmic illusion", also, the video has some editing to it (who cares, she's still awesome), but if you notice at 3:25 she plays on the Hi-Hats but the sound actually comes from the Ride cymbal, so yes, you need some lessons, but hey, who doesn't?, everybody can learn something from someone else, best regards.

I came here expecting a chick trying to catch views by just lookin good and playin alright, but what i found was the absolute best groove technique i've ever seen!!! the mic'ing on your toms and that ride! and the way you dance around the fixed time signatures in AND OUT of your fills has my jaw on the floor... thank you for sharing your gift and if the music industry cannot find YOU success then we all might as well quit now!

3:27-3:30. The hi-hats are being hit but the audio is of the ride being hit. Still, this is very good editing. (no negativity meant, just observing.)

I absolutely love your version of this song on drumeo. Despite you looking very uncomfortable on that kit. Lol. I really think you should put out a live version of that like Benny Greb did with Greb Fruit.

Have to say the electronic bits in this song are poorly mixed and way too abrasive. The guitar should be in the front of the mix not the synth. Awesome drumming as always!

Tom Knight played similarly in the tracks he was guest on for bassist Adam Nitti (particularly Skitzo.) I don't know why it has taken me so long to hear of you Anika. But....wow. I love you're playing. So much groove, and the fills are just so CATCHY! and fills in the pocket to the point where I said out loud "yes! I know eXACTLY what you're saying!"

Anika, this is just a matter of personal taste... With that said... This video show your better sound ever (in my opinion) is too bad that you went to tama and loose this amazing sound... Tama is a great product... Wondering if you could recover this original you, don't miss understand me... You are an amazing drummer, warm greetings from Costa Rica, central America.

Hate to bring up that Meytal chick but you can't even really hear her when she plays cause her drums get so buried in the track.Makes it seem like she's hiding behind the track. She's just a novelty. This though is really nice!! Your playing is dynamic and musical. Keep doing what your doing!

Nett aneinander gereihte Tripplets... Der Groove erinnert ein wenig an den von Jeff Porcaro (+ 1992 Toto) und auch ein bisschen an Simon Phillips Stil.... so richtig nach meinem Geschmack
