2005 BMW 325xi (E46) - Troubleshooting a faulty trunk lid release and replacing the trunk lid handle

In this video, I troubleshot a faulty trunk lid release on a BMW E46 chassis car (2005 325xi sedan).

The aftermarket trunk lid grip part usually includes a gasket that is much thicker than factory spec. Before installing check around the rectangular openings for the mounting points and reseat the foam if it is overlapping the plastic. Do not over torque the screws down onto your new fat gasket or the plastic will be working on a new crack from day one. Don’t ask me how I know. Anyway, first e46 video I found that showed the connector removal. Thanks.

Amazon ones are hit and miss. So far, my customer has reported that this one has been holding up just fine.
