    Weber State University (Utah) offers Electric Vehicle mechanic training. Weber State University offers ASE xEV and ASE L3 Light Duty Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Certifications . The guests are misleading the audience into thinking that there is a lack of EV mechanic training. This is probably because they are newbies to the EV industry. Ford CEO Farley stated in an interview that the USA needs 10’s of thousands of EV mechanics. There are “mom and pop” shops popping up that you really need to inquire if their mechanics meet the certifications mentioned above. WeberAuto has a YT channel with various videos categorized under their playlists. This would be a first start for any mechanic desiring knowledge on EV’s.

      Sorry, William, we certainly didn't mean to mislead. There are definitely resources, like we mentioned, but even EV technician school is a bit different than doing conversions. LegacyEV is one of the best EV conversion educational groups out there (IMO), and Ohm on the Range hosts fantastic annual learning conferences in the Denver area.

      @@ClassicEVConversions I noticed a Corvair in the background. Do U do Corvair EV conversions? There is a company in Massachusetts dealing with Corvair parts(Clark’s Corvair Parts) as I think that they have parts to do an EV conversion (for the OEM Electrovair II by GM). Electrovair II’s silver-zinc battery and electric motor combo makes 115-horsepower, has a 40-to-80-mile range, and takes six hours to fully recharge. Lithium-ion and modern technology certainly can improve on that. Motortrend has depictions of the layout of the system. Mobility Engineering Tech site has pictures of the actual Electrovar II. The rear battery takes up most of the space, but with lithium batteries , you could decrease the space. Ambler EV has conversion kits which might be feasible. Let me know.

    I like the idea of conversions, especially for cars that were under powered or had bad engines. VWs are a good example. It's too bad that it's often quite expensive. EVs are coming down in price and will soon be on parity with ICE vehicles.

    The VW bus seems like it was meant for a conversion. All the empty space below with all the practical cargo space above. And as someone else here wrote, the engine wasn’t worth saving. Everyone I know who has owned a VW bus has a story about being broken down in Albuquerque and it’s painful to see them try to go up a hill. Is there another video on the bus? I’d have liked to see inside.

    • @ClassicEVConversions
      @ClassicEVConversions 5 місяців тому +1

      It does not. We ideally accept vehicles in the physical condition/restoration that you want and we convert the drivetrain to electric. That said, we pay close attention to all safety-related upgrades that may be needed and make recommendations or offer the upgrades.

    There should be a declaimer for that VW Truck's battery. RUNNING WITHOUT A BMS?! That's a horrible horrible idea, especially for used Tesla modules.
