I just just switched from Pro Tools to Cubase 13. I saw your demo projects and looked you up. After watching your channel I have finished 3 songs.Yet another great video.. Thanks!
On the real though, there’s people charge $80+ for less information than what you just gave away in 20 minutes thank you for your channel and always being a genuine dude.
the first video i’ve watched from you was the how to make a pop song video with two sided mind and since then, you have inspired me so much to try new things and not give up on producing. thank you sm austin truly
No matter how you slice it- there’s no substitute for hard work. But the good news is that the more you do it, the easier it gets to develop those ideas. Thanks for the tips Austin!
Thanks so much for putting this video out Austin! I struggle with this constantly. I’m always trying to throw down creative ideas as they come and they are just stacking up in an incompletion folder 📂
Every word here is pure gold. It takes a special skill to laser-focus on the things that really matter and explain them so clearly and eloquently in just one short video. Thank you Austin, brilliant as always!
Great video with a relevant topic! I sometimes make a manifest where I decide on a certain list of instruments for the recording or specific plugins for the mixing part just to maintain the vibe or sound I want. It also helps me get things done when I won’t have to bother or get distracted looking for plugins with the loooong list of plugs in my daw. Make a template with the preferred instruments and effects for an EP or album to maintain the artistic goal for that project! It helps me finish songs!
Indeed! I wanted to mention the same too. #7 is slowly creeping in these days due to time limitations, busy life, distractions, etc. I really need to get more intentional with my active listening habit, like I used to few years back.
Tip 5 is life changing man. I have been chained to my backlog of songs thinking that finishing meant “don’t start anything new until you finish everything else first.” I got better at managing my time but trying to go back and clean up my messes and figure out how to finish old poorly managed ideas has had me stuck for a bit. Thank you!
Thanks for making this Austin! Just recently joined the masterclass community, and I’ve gotten a lot out of the education you’ve put out here so far. This video covers a topic more producers (myself included) need to be more self-aware about. Thanks for everything!
This video helps a lot thanks Austin! This has been a problem of mine for a while now this is going to help me so much in the future keep it up man You're helping so many producers!!
Great video! Your focus on getting the skeleton of the song down asap reminds me of the Six Rules for the Aspiring Writer by the great American author, John Steinbeck. Rule #2 in particular: "Write freely and as rapidly as possible and throw the whole thing on paper. Never correct or rewrite until the whole thing is down. Rewrite in process is usually found to be an excuse for not going on. It also interferes with flow and rhythm which can only come from a kind of unconscious association with the material."
I never realized the importance of having a place for the song to go until this video. I tend to work on one song at a time so often the motivation to finish is so I can work on something else!
At this point I have thousands of unfinished songs and hop on to the next one everytime before the last is done. So this video is really what I needed. Especially the idea of knowing what to do with a particular song.
Austin, again, another great video. I just found your channel, but man, you deserve to have many more subscribers. You provide great help and information.
I started to follow your videos after I found some tutorials on how to make songs for The Weeknd. Funny enough, yesterday I was struggling to finish my beat and I was so frustrated and now you appeared on my fyp. Interesting enough :)))
I’d been doing some of these things subconsciously without paying so much attention to them😅, now I’m going to start doing them with more intention. Thanks for the great tips Austin!❤
I'm so glad you covered this topic. I have too many song ideas that end up in the demo graveyard because "perfection" gets in the way. Btw, I'd love to see a video about producing a song like slenderbodies. Their new album is outstanding!
Thank you so much for your transparency. It really blessed me and I feel less alone. I pray that the Lord continues to bless you. I also pray that the seeds that you have sown will produce an amazing harvest soon ❤.
Hello Austin, first of all I like to thank you for your great video’s. I’ve learned a lot from you and yesterday I finished for the first time a song and it sounds great to me 😅. Every friday I’m curious to see what I can learn from you! With kind regards from the Netherlands.
Greetings from India,Thank you for doing this every week, learning a lot from you, looking forward for more and yeah been listening to your podcast too, keep them coming 😀
I never set deadlines since I just make stuff as a hobby and I currently have more than 10 tracks just sitting there for months thinking I will do something more. Setting deadlines will probably help with this if I can stick with it. Good info as always!
My problem is I have a lot of good ideas but because I get mad imposter syndrome I tend to let go of old ideas because I just think the new stuff is better. I randomly be looking at old stuff and im just like “damn this was actually good and is the sound I want”
Great video! I used to have a target to release at least one song per month on my UA-cam channel. Thanks for the reminder, so I’ll go back to setting up deadlines and release targets for myself. 😄
I found out that set actual deadlines is crucial. in my case if I get a client that need something written or a mix, having a deadline is super worth and force you to close that in any case
You make finishing your songs look easy peasy lemon squeezy, but over here it's more like stressy, depressy, lemon zesty 😭😂
I just just switched from Pro Tools to Cubase 13. I saw your demo projects and looked you up. After watching your channel I have finished 3 songs.Yet another great video.. Thanks!
good job!
On the real though, there’s people charge $80+ for less information than what you just gave away in 20 minutes thank you for your channel and always being a genuine dude.
I’ve never watched a MPM Video and not been inspired to create something. Love this channel so much.
It's so motivating to hear that you're not alone with the struggle of finishing stuff! Thanks so much for the energy boost 😊
Istg you're a psychic because you always upload the perfect video when I need it...

15:20 please do that. It’s very interesting how you analyze the songs and can recreate the vibe so well!
I agree💯
Every word here is pure gold. It takes a special skill to laser-focus on the things that really matter and explain them so clearly and eloquently in just one short video. Thank you Austin, brilliant as always!
One of the most refreshing music producers on UA-cam 🙌🏻🫶
Austin single-handedly helping all of us again
As usual your hitting it out of the park , much appreciated .

#5 and #8 are my favorite ones. Overthinking and overcomplicating are part of perfectionism.
Indeed! I wanted to mention the same too. #7 is slowly creeping in these days due to time limitations, busy life, distractions, etc. I really need to get more intentional with my active listening habit, like I used to few years back.

I love your ability to articulate concepts, techniques, and practices so well. Your videos are always so insightful and full of knowledge. Thank you!
