    Man I wish you knew how you saved my life bro. Over a year ago… I was in a dark place. With a pregnant wife and 2 kids. Messing up my life. Feeling heavy guilt not knowing how to fix my life and looking for an exit. I contemplated suicide so much I came close and I ran across the podcast you did on inside of you with Michael Rosenbaum. You described everything I was feeling and how me not being around would be better for everyone. That part anchored me back man. I realized the pain I would cause my wife and kids and started living for them. I faced a lot of my demons and came clean about everything. I listened to Jordan Peterson too he helped me face confront my problems like “taking on the dragon” for the treasure that’s on the other side. Your story was like a hand on my shoulder that said you’re not alone and there’s a way. I hope I meet you one day for nothing more but to say thank you. My 3 girls have a father today because of you. And my wife and I are happier then we’ve ever been.

    @aritchson Just watched one of your interviews with Michael Rosenbaum, where you talk about your difficulties and suicide. My 16yr old sister hung herself ( I was only 9) never understood it ...most of the time we don't ever understand what the individual is going through to actually take their own life and to do it in such a violent way. Your honesty about what you went through has brought much light in my life. To hear what the other person was feeling is something I never will be able to grasp, your honesty was the answer, thank you for being vulnerable, and honest and out spoken. I know that was not easy, how can it be, I only feel the loss that came from losing my older sister, not the pain that caused it. Thank you, stay blessed, continue to open your mouth about your believes, you are making a difference....you have made the difference for me.

    Great message. Learning to respond to problems rather than react to them is a great sign of good adulting and emotional intelligence. Many believe that 'problems' and the solving or navigation of problems is like emotional & mental weight lifting. It builds awareness, resiliency, and the capacity to handle EFFECTIVELY more and more of what life throws at us. Well done.

    Just seen, by chance, a couple clips of "Inside of you clips" interview. Im so far disconnected from "Celebrity" I wasnt even sure who you were but something made me click it, Id never heard of 'Inside of you clips' either; I was blown away with the depth of those short clips, by what and how you articulated everything. Will listen more to you (might even give Reacher a watch- yes, never seen that either). Also, Ive been on somewhat of a journey regrding inner work, faith, spirituality for a while, and will listen to more of your thoughts on that too.

    I do enjoy your sermons. I don't always agree with the Bible portions but the topics can be interesting and thought provoking. Speaking of problems, it reminded me of an Instagram post you did about FedEx gluing notices to your glass door. You probably didn't read my comment and may not see this one but whenever I ran into a situation, something that could upset me I say to myself, "If this is the worse thing to happen to me all day, then it's a good day" because most of those problems/troubles were insignificant in the grand scheme of things. So if I look at problems that way, they're never as bad as they could be.

    Great message. In my opinion, our number one societal “problem” today is we have lost the ability to relax and put problems in perspective, in most cases how to de-escalate. It’s a policing problem, it’s a gun violence problem, it’s an everyday conversational problem. It’s something that must be taught and expected; it doesn’t just happen naturally. We all must demand it of ourselves and do better.

    At last I am able to sit down in a peaceful place 1 week after my 1st visit. Thank you Alan for a lovely post🙏 l always visit 2 or 3 times to be able to absorb every thing. One question I am English so could you explain speakeasy for me. Sorry if I sound silly but it is not a term we use in UK , at least I am not aware of it 😊

    • @timcarman3311
      @timcarman3311 Рік тому +1

      I think the term was coined during the prohibition years in the states when it was illegal to sell alcohol. The term was code for a bar. It probably came from the idea that alcohol lowers your inhibitions and makes you more talkative- speak easy. Don’t know for sure if that is the origin of the word, just an educated guess

    Question. Why do you have to believe in God or any religion to do good and be a good person?

    • @andrewwoode
      @andrewwoode Рік тому

      I would like to help you in this question, but first: what is a good person to you? And what is the reason you ask?
      I could then help answer your question with more relevance

    • @stevelanjam
      @stevelanjam Рік тому

      You do not but that is not the reason you were created or why the Father offers us the opportunity to know and serve Him.
      If we are philanthropists because we decide it is the best thing to do, who are we serving? The Father could have created us all to serve and do “good deeds” for each other if that was His plan. But, he created us with a free will (He doesn’t want robots) to decide that he IS who He is and that HE is worthy of our love, devotion and service and provided for the forgiveness of sin because it is not possible to be in his presence as sinful.
      I know that this is an older post, but I hope that you see it and look for the understanding . He loves you so much it will blow your mind, I promise.

      Mark 10:18 "And Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is God." Also found in Matt 19:17 and Luke 18:19
      So, no worries you don't need to believe in God or any religion to do good and be a good person. To paraphrase Tolle, you do not become good by trying to be good but by finding within yourself that which is truly good, letting it manifest in your life.

    OooOOOOoooooohhh...
    I can picture that, packing tape on your parents' window. 😬 Coulda used that tape to repair the leaky hose. 😅 You told another story about a basketball and sticking a sign over the dent you made in the entrance wall..? Lol! I bet your folks spent a few hours during their lives shaking their heads over their sons. And you gave them more boys? 😂
    Anyway, I wanna see some of that airbrush art. I know you're a visual / 2D artist too. 🎨🖌️
    Problems. I think we as humans like solving problems. We resent tests at school and then grow up to buy books of sudoku and crossword puzzles. Someone who chooses to follow Jesus for a free ride in a velvet pew are going to come up empty. Those who see the challenge, take the dare of picking up one's cross, are the people that Jesus wants to team up with. People who see a problem as a challenge and say, bring it on! Smooth sailing does not a skillful mariner make. (I think that's how the saying goes.)
    Thanks for sharing again this week. 🥪 Hope you're not in a hotel too long this time. (Yet selfishly, I like it when you travel because you seem to have time to think and write.🫣)

    PS Took my son, 15, to FastX. For you -- I've never seen anything else in the franchise. I was laughing at everything defying the laws of physics -- you got that super line that summed up the movie: "they did it twice." My car-loving son picked apart all the tech stuff -- "that car doesn't shift like that!" etc. A good time had by all. 😁

    TODAY, the gospel that saves is The Gospel of the Grace of God: 1 Cor 15:1-4 KJB. Believe to receive Hsi "free gift" of eternal salvation. Today, Paul is our apostle. The moment one trusts the finished work of Jesus Christ on Calvary (His death, burial, and resurrection) be "believing" 1 Cor 15:1-4 KJB, they are "saved", "sealed", and have ALL their sins forgiven (past, present, and future).
    1Tim 2:4 KJB Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
    The Gospel of the Grace of God is not the same gospel that Jesus and the 12 apostles preached in "time past" (books of Matt, Mark, Luke, John KJB).
    Today, we find our "sound doctrine" in Paul's epistles: Romans through Philemon KJB.
