I think Albania is the most underrated Country in the ESC history.. to 90 % every year.. such a shame. But why? 😅
She is closing the note because in that part of the lyrics she is like sofering because the world has fallen on her. That goes very well with the lyrics actually.☺️
Albania is the strongest vocals country in Eurovision. You have to react to Rona Nishliu - Suus, Lindita Halimi - World, Eugent Bushpepa - Mall Eurovision performances, if you are interested in vocals.

@@fik1527 the only occasions i can think of are 2004 (very shrill bit still powerful) and 2013 (the song didn't require much vocal talent)
4:48 she is singing that way bc she is singing in albanian and some of the words in albanian aren’t the same in english thats why her jaw is moving that way and its not fully opened but she is definitely the best, she expresses hurt and her feelings like crying on the song #teamanxhela

I've been obsessing over this song. @5:00 To me, the fact that she closes her mouth makes it sounds like she's in pain and/or crying. The song is about her facing her sinful former life, looking for redemption or something in that alley. It's echoed at @5:14; the highest note is a bit 'off', it sounds like it's shouted at us, like a plea, one last time, her climax, 'please hear me, I'm really sorry'. I wonder if it's a common thing in sad songs from Eastern Europe. Absolutely reminds me of musicals in general, and also fado, a sorrowful musical genre from Portugal.

Great voice for the Eurovision
I think she's changing the vowel to give greater emotion to it. I don't know Albanian, but I think she's very angry, she's perhaps angry with herself. I got this feeling because of that vowel change from a to ı. Western languages don't really have the ı sound (I, without a dot). We do have that in Turkish. Perhaps Albanian language has that sound as well. But I get it might sound a bit disturbing to Western audiences.

The letter " ë " is diferent that the leter " e " is a vowle in albania and and its sounds a lot like dispear constand crying , it's similar sound to the letter " ø " that norway has for example, , and she holds that in the song because after she gives her energy with the "aaaaAAAA... " she has no more to give but she still feels terrible so she cries. it has to do with the fact that is a self blame song you see.

that part towards the end that you loved is part of folk music from Balkans. every folk singer in Balkan countries does that
Albania has great singers and songs too
This instrument is something like a clarinet but it can hit lower notes. Its very common in traditional balkan music(for example, I am from Greece and it is used in most of the songs)
That top note is hitting with the letter “n” and honestly I don’t think how anyone can pronounce that letter with their mouth open 😄

Well Norway's and Lithuania's national selections started. Some okay songs there, but nothing stand out. Estonia's songs are kind of AWESOME and Israel's national final is tonight I believe - Eurogeeks, correct me if I'm wrong. Needless to say, I don't like the 3 songs in the Israel NF.

Not the best song that year, but one of the best singers, for sure. Perfect control, delicate nuances in her voice, and pitch-perfect.
The transitions between the segments was really choppy. I prefer transitions that flow smoothly into the the next part.

I think she closes her jaw in those two climax moments to prevent her voice from cracking or any other problems from occurring. In that moment her voice is super exposed and even the slightest imperfection would just show. I find it a bit annoying though.
I found it very interesting , beacouse I hear a lot of singers who shout if she would have opened the voice most probably she would end screaming.
Trus me anxhala is capable of singing very high she is an excellent singer with more than 25 years exp singing since was a child she knows her voice perfectly that was just ann arrangement for the song becouse the lyric are dramatic and that is the main idea of the song karma she is suffering from her own actions
IMHO I was bothered by it at first listen but analyzing the lyrics of the song, I think it suits really well. It's about a person suffering from bad karma due to the things they done before. It's like you want to let your anger out so bad because of the Karma, but holds it back because in the end, it's the person's fault.
@@TheGeritr I agree! Anxhela can really sing. She studied opera before that's why she knows what she's doing with her voice. I recommend to watch her Kenga Magjike performances, especially 'Gengjeshtar' and 'E Cmendur', her award-winning song 'Pa Mua', and her debut songs 'Ato Fjale', 'Ishe Mbret', 'Prap do ti lutem' and '1001 Djem'.

Well it's not messy or too much. It's a etno songs, based on Albanian motives. Different cultures have different methods in music. So u better do some research in cultures before saying it's too much.
Many countries being influenced by american motives makes people judge that.

For analfabets that don"t knows. Albanian Lenguange is the oldest Lenguage in Europe or mother of all Europian Lenguages. Even word Europe has a meaning only in Albanian Lenguage.
