Replacing NFL stadiums so often isn't about weather, it's about money. Teams can extort cities into building more lavish stadiums because they can threaten to leave if one isn't built, or move to a city that will promise millions in public money for a stadium. Meanwhile, colleges just renovate their stadiums that were built in the 20s and 30s, and they're fine.
@nsnick199 Colleges can get away with renovating stadiums for a few reasons in my opinion. First and foremost, no one is asking for a new stadium. Second, there's usually more history and tradition. Finally, it's not like OSU can threaten to leave Columbus if a new stadium isn't built.
Precisely why St. Louis and San Diego no longer have NFL franchises. Neither city wanted to build stadiums on their dime or on the team owners terms. Funny enough, San Diego ended up demolishing Qualcomm/Jack Murphy stadium to build Snapdragon Stadium for the SDSU Aztecs a few years later after the Chargers left.
Call it whatever you want, that's just common sense business. They bring a shit load of people into the cities, who spend a lot of money. Don't wanna help pay to renovate? We'll go somewhere where they're willing to pitch in. If the team paid the entire bill and subsequently had to pay their team/staff less, you all would then cry about that. What's your solution?
I'm a moderator for Tom's channel. He is one of the hardest-working UA-camrs out there as he has put out at least one video every single day of the week for the past 5 years and then he'll stream multiple games a week as well. But once it got going and there were news articles about him and what he was doing, teams couldn't ignore him.
I was a firefighter that responded to Katrina in 05. The story about the Superdome is something you guys should check out. It wasn't really the bastion of safety it was touted as being. My main memory of it was racing rental cars on the shutdown freeways around it with the roof covering flapping on the breeze.

The stadium next to the Texans NRG stadium is the Astrodome, former home fot he Astros and Oilers and it is where about 25,000 Hurricane Katrina evacuees from New Orleans lived after the storm.
Soldier Field is one of the oldest stadiums in the NFL. Like it said, they attempted to remodel it. I'm totally honest when I say, from the outside, it looks like they dropped a giant flying saucer on top of it.

I have visited 6 of the current NFL stadiums. Here are my mini rankings, for whatever it's worth. 1. Atlanta: Amazing architecture, great sound. A little sterile. 2. Pittsburgh: Great fan atmosphere. Great view of the bridges and river. I arrived at the game via Riverboat. 3. Tampa - Great weather. I've had great seats sometimes. The pirate ship cannons are a bit loud. 4. New England: Nice stadium. Hard core loud fans. Not as nice when it rains. A long walk from parking. 5. Detroit: Nice downtown location. Saw a great game. Lions lost, the crowd wasn't as engaged as at other stadiums (2015 wasn't a great season for the Lions.) 6. Buffalo (Orchard Park): Nice atmosphere amongst the crowd. Bench seats, but reasonably priced in 2014. A bit dated. Saw a good game. All told, seeing an NFL game a year over 10 seasons, I never had anything that I could have considered a bad game day experience. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Love that Ford Field got some well-deserved credit in this one! It really is an underappreciated stadium and if the Lions really do finally have a good season this year, it's going to be one of the best environments in the NFL
The Arizona stadium grass is actually hovered in, on a cushion of air. The grass dies inside and turns yellow rapidly because of the stadium roof blocking the sun. The turf is kept outside for care, maintenance and sun, then pushed inside through a door in the side of the stadium on game day.
I love Lambeau. This has to be the only list where it's ranked outside of the top 5. It's easily the most historic, and it boasts one of the games greatest gameday atmospheres, both pre, during, and post game.
Lambeau Field and the game experience at a Packers Game is as close as you can get to the College Level Atmosphere. And the shops, restaurants and taverns inside are unbelievable. Not even mentioning The Packer Hall of Fame...which there is nothing like it in the NFL...can I say Currly Lambeau, Vice Lombardi, Don Hudson, Paul Horning, Reggie White, Brett Farve, Bart Starr, Ray Nitchky, Jim Taylor, ........and next to the stadium is "Title Town"...
I'm glad you love the Hemorrhoid Hotel. Backless 1950s steel benches in open air 10 to 0 degree wind might be your love, but then you must be a Packer fan. BTW, "historic" is a euphemism for "OLD." Too bad GB is too small to actually build a modern stadium.
@@Tom-ut6ky hemorrhoid hotel is a new one to me lmao. Personally, I wouldn’t change a thing. But if they did, public funding would be approved in a heartbeat. Put it this way, Brown County has a .5% sales tax tacked on to the states 5% sales tax. In 2022, they earned 33 million dollars from that extra tax. If they were to increase that extra tax rate to 2%, they would raise approximately 1.65 billion dollars over 10 years, which would be more than enough to pay for a stadium. I’d be willing to bet that the state of Wisconsin, or surrounding counties at the minimum, would also provide funding by way of a sales tax increase. The team being publicly owned means that state and local governments will do whatever possible to ensure the Packers stay in Green Bay. Even though Lambeau has a Wriggly or Fenway like charm, I’m sure there’ll come a day when serious discussions about a new stadium come about. Til then, Lambeau will continue to be the Mecca for NFL football.
Pittsburg-related story: So I live in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas. This used to be the town where many, many pro baseball teams used to go for their spring training before the start of the season in the early 1900s. The local high school team used to be the Cardinals. But Pittsburgh Pirate legend Honus Wagner would coach the team while here. When he returned to Pittsburgh he had a bunch of Pirate sports gear sent to equip the teams. The school eventually changed their nickname to the Trojans but the colors have ever since been black and gold.
They left out what I think is the one the best parts about MBS: You may have noticed a distinct lack of massive car parks surrounding it. That’s because there is a subway that runs directly underneath serviced by the Green and Blue lines of MARTA and is just one stop away from the main hub for the city. I have never once driven to a game there or the Georgia Dome which sat basically at the same spot before it.
You guys should check out Tom's 30 in 30 series, even if you guys don't do reactions to it. It will give you a good idea of the fans for each team and the cities they are in. It really does give a new perspective for each team.

The Chiefs fan base covers an enormous geographical area. Essentially Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma. You have to drive to get to the games, but Kansas City has arguably the best tailgating in the NFL that goes along with KC barbecue.
Lemme guess....Chiefs fan? 🤣 How many times has your team's fans taken over an opposing stadium and made it pretty much a home game for the Chiefs? Eagles fans do it at least once a season, even across the country. We'd do it more but some cities know we'll take over and they make it a point not to sell too many tix to us. You're talking about traveling across the country to support your team, which is not the same as the geographic area that supports the Eagles, which is rather small. People have no idea of how awesome and high-tech ALL of the NFL stadiums are if you actually go to them. Even the #27 ranked Jacksonville Jaguars stadium (with the swimming pools) has amazing facilities throughout the stadium. All of the stadiums have really nice restaurant areas, luxury seating areas, and other amenities that make the entire gameday experience great. ...Yet, Americans are disturbingly never satisfied and must rebuild everything new after only a few years. ...The young guy visiting the stadiums had the speaking skills of a 15 year old American teenager--- saying "like" at least 500 times.
On your discussion about how many of the stadiums look like they are only convenient to get to by car: that's how it is almost everywhere in America. We're very car-centric, and the vast majority of people will arrive to an NFL game by car. If you live close enough to the stadium in the city you may take some sort of public transportation to get there, but most people will be driving in from suburbs and places further outside the city. And in some cases, notably Buffalo and Green Bay, there is no public transportation at all around those stadiums
Giants and Jets have shared a stadium since they moved to New Jersey decades ago. The Giants had a stadium built there, in the Meadowlands of Jersey, in 1976-aptly named “Giants Stadium.” The Jets stayed in New York and played at Shea Stadium, home of the NY Mets at the time. It was fun watching them there, but it was not a football stadium. In 1988 they also opted to move to NJ. They would also use Giants stadium. Both teams stayed there until MetLife opened in 2010. MetLife was built in a parking lot adjacent to old Giants stadium, which was demolished a few years later. To make things more confusing is that each team retained their “NY” titles even though they played across the River in NJ. Really enjoying this channel. If you guys are ever in Dallas I’ll take you to a Cowboys game (as long as you root against them!).
Gonna admit that when I visited Highmark we parked a solid mile away from the stadium. We could not get ANY closer, I kid you not. I think I heard in the comments to the original video that they're going to bus people in from parking lots further away to handle the problem.
Also Grossi was throwing shade at Soilder Field mainly because he's a Packers fan. Bears and Packers are sworn NFC north rivals. We don't get alone with them lol. #GoPackGo
What you have to consider is that here in the US, very few places have public transportation at all, let alone an effective transit system. So except for cities like New York, Chicago, LA, etc. people have really no choice but to drive places. And places arent walkable either. So even if a smaller city may have a bus system, you'd have to walk like 45 minutes from your house just to get to the bus station to then ride for 10 minutes to get to the grocery store or something, when you could just drive the 15 minutes and be there already. So almost all architecture is designed for cars, rather than people. I wish we had more pedestrian and public transit oriented architecture. Also, when you mentioned "but new york had a really good subway system though so i wonder why youd have to drive." Thats because the New York Giants/Jets stadium is actually in New Jersey, not New York
I was an Atlanta United season ticket holder before I moved away and Mercedes Benz is a great place to watch games. Something that wasn't mentioned is how cheap concessions are. Hot dogs are only $2, beer is $5 and everything else is pretty much cheaper than any other NFL stadium.

There is public transport to a lot of these stadiums, but in the US there is much more reliance on personal vehicles. There is a large portion of fans who will attend by car. Not sure about the actual ratio, and im sure it depends on the stadium. For my home stadium of Metlife in NJ, that massive parking lot will get pretty crowded by gametime
I've never seen an NFL stadium list before that had Lumin Field even close to being as low as 19th. The lowest ranking I could find was 10th, and the highest was 4th, and all were ranked higher than Levi Stadium by at least 5 spots.

MetLife stadium is a pain to get too because the Stadium is in New Jersey,which isn't conected to the New York subway system despite East Rutherford being considered part of the New York Metro area.
As someone who did marching band on the field at Lucas Oil (the colts stadium) I can say it is crazy nice inside. And when you stand on that field and listen to a crowd it’s so loud you can’t hear anything else. Crazy good environment

Tom Grossi just started his NFL division predictions. He starts with the NFC North. It is a quick review and will familiarize you with some players. Tom is not from Green Bay. Green Bay defeated his father’s favorite team, the Cowboys (he lives in NY/NJ), when he was young, so Tom became a Green Bay fan.
If I can give you guys a little information on the bills stadium, I’m a local born and raised and try to get to about 4 games a season here in my adulthood. A lot of the parking for the stadium, is where they are building the new stadium. And like Tom said, they are going to have the same issue when they demo the old stadium. Parking is absolutely insane at a bills game for multiple reasons. For one, everyone tailgates. It’s not just a football game it’s a full fledged party. The locals use their lawns and charge for parking. The other issue is that it’s in the suburbs. In theory more room for parking but the issue is everyone has to drive there! If it was in the inner city or downtown there would be less room for parking lots, but a lot more options for public transportation and carpooling and what not. That being said I am happy the bills didn’t get moved to Toronto and am excited for the new building! It is modeled roughly after the Tottenham hotspurs stadium but bigger. ⭕️ Also side note: LA and NY teams play in the same stadium, and there is a rivalry because it’s a “Derby“ match as you guys would call it, but they are in different conferences so the rivalry’s aren’t that strong because they don’t play each other often and don’t play each other in the playoffs (except possibly a superbowl but I don’t think that has ever happened)
Nick, you were spot on with your guess as to why Arizona wheels their field in and out of the stadium. It is a permanent dome, but they're able to use natural grass indoors by caring for the grass outside during the week and bringing it inside on game day.
Yea, Arizona does an awesome job with how they care for their field at State Farm Stadium. Despite the fact that they were criticized for the field they used for Super Bowl 57 in their stadium earlier this year, mainly due to them overwatering the field, causing it to be slippery at certain spots, and that it wasn't sanded enough.
Yeah everything in Pittsburgh has a fantastic backdrop because you are always on the shore of one of Three Rivers. The Ohio, the Monongahela or the Allegany, sometimes all three.
The Jets and Giants have played in the same stadium for decades. LA Rams and LA Chargers share a stadium that was built a few years ago. This is why there are 30 stadiums even though there are 32 teams.

For Levi's Stadium, with the 49ers, it will be hosting both a Superbowl and the World Cup in 2026, so they are planning some fan experiences and upgrades around the area, so it should get better soon.

Arizona grows natural grass on a platform outside and wheels the field inside on tracks to protect fans from the intense heat of the Arizona desert. Las Vegas does the same thing.
Chiefs parking lots is because the Royals (baseball) stadium literally next to it and they have occasionally had games at same/similar times. Many people take busses/shuttles but the primary way to go is by car because the Chiefs represent an extremely large area in the MidWest. Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri are just the closest Chiefs "home" areas. People drive 3 hours to get to home games on occasion.
As someone that has to drive over 3 hours to watch the Chiefs play, it’s not that bad. But yeah, Chiefs Kingdom covers a huge geographic area. The next closest NFL teams would be 6 hours away by car.
I don't see how Seattle's field could be so low on this list. It's beautiful and so damned loud. Great food, the Hawks Nest bleachers at the end of the field are great too.
I went to Sofi twice. First Rams football game ever played in the stadium then I went to Rams vs 49ers semi final game and it is amazing. It’s too young to have its own traditions at the moment but the inside is like 10k then when you leave the stadium normal life is quite dull. I’ve spoke to some people who have seen concerts there and they said it was top notch for those events as well. Then my brother ended up going to the Rams vs Bangles SuperBowl and he could not even explain the atmosphere and just the insanity of a spectacle there at Sofi. It really is amazing. I live about 30 mins from sofi but Hopefully I can also get a chance to check out the Raiders new stadium in Vegas the next time I drive over there. About 4 hrs drive.
To be fair, when Tom came to Philly, we were under an air quality advisory due to the wildfires in Canada. I bet The Linc will be ranked higher next time he comes😊
Soldier field (bears), is a good stadium, location is great but its small and doesnt have the best concourses. I think they get hate because they took a very old stadium and built a ufo saucer into it. Also he’s obviously a packers fan so its biased. Packers/bears are the oldest and one of the biggest rivalries
I’ve only ever seen a game at Denver’s stadium and Kansas City’s. Both of them, I thought were really nice places to see the games. My only note about Denver is that the PA announcer is frequently REALLY tough to understand. It’s like listening to Charlie Brown’s teacher in there. Every time I go to a game there, people around me are constantly asking each other if anyone understood what just came over the loudspeaker. Usually, none of us have any idea:

It’s a shame the Panthers stadium breakdown wasn’t longer :/ Fyi, there was serious movement/action being taken about year ago for a new indoor/outdoor stadium to be built for the team, but the owner butted heads with government officials and the project got canned. Hopefully they try again soon to get it built! (I imagine that if Young does well for us over the next couple of years, there will be enough momentum/hype surrounding the team to get the project through to the finish line)
The guy definitely did the Carolina Panthers Bank of America stadium wrong.. It’s a older stadium but it’s beautiful, especially at night. Charlotte FC also plays there.
Since you were talking about parking at the Bills stadium: It's located in a suburb, so there are a lot of houses nearby. The people who live close enough use their front yards as parking lots. It's cheaper than the cost of parking at the stadium and the prices get lower the further you are from the stadium.
As a Pats fan, I'm not surprised Gillette Stadium is in the middle. It's for sure, a huge upgrade over the dump that was the old Foxboro Stadium that preceded it. It's a cool place to see a game, and as Tom alluded to, they have been renovating the past couple years, with the new 220 foot lighthouse that is part of the entrance in the north endzone, where you can see the Boston and Providence skylines from the observation deck. And also the huge curved videoboard, that will be the largest in the U.S. But yea, it's a stadium that has an outdoor mall surrounding it. Lots of awesome places to eat, a bowling alley, a theatre, and the Patriots Hall of Fame building. It's pretty much DisneyWorld for not only Pats fans, but for all NFL fans.
When teams share stadiums it simply creates a scheduling issue. Unless they play each other thay can't both play on the home field at the same time. One could play an early game at 1 pm and the other at 7 pm but turning over the field logos and decorations is an issue. Schedulers try to schedule them for home and away opposite each other or for Sunday Monday and Thursday night games.
Some colleges also have an enclosed stadium. Like where my Florida gators play it is pretty vertical. But one other thing about it is it's actually built in a sinkhole. Generates crazy echo on the field and gets loud. Holds 88k+
Something cool they don’t mention in the video is the cowboys stadium has massive retractable shutter’s built specifically for the sun to get in the enemy QBs eyes. The cowboys usually play at 4 o’clock so If the enemy team is facing west in the second half they will open them to blind the QB on purpose. I don’t like the cowboys but pretty neat
Soldier field actually has atmosphere and it's got a great view of the Chicago skyline. It's in downtown Chicago. Sure it's not the best stadium but it's not the 3rd worst.
Re: giant parking lots -- City planners in the US have been taking money from car manufacturers pretty much since the car was invented so now it's practically impossible to get anywhere without a car outside of a select few urban areas. I'm a little surprised you don't know this, it's part of the Murican stereotype
Highmore stadium currently has a lot of parking, but they're building the new stadium on top of what was 2 parking lots. So that's cutting the parking capacity quite a bit, until they can get new parking lots set up once the old stadium goes bye bye.
I enjoy the panther stadium. I'm a fan and I live in clt. They just added new vip suite style seats to the front row in a few places. Very nice! Also added a field bar behind the end zone as well.
I have only ever been to a Panthers game so I don't really think about the fan experience on-site when thinking about NFL stadiums. Instead my mind goes to how fun a stadium is to see games in on TV and a ranking that way would seriously shake up the list. Soldier Field, for example, is one that I really love watching on TV. It's an older, smaller stadium, so the fans are right on top of the action and the fact that it's open air in a cold weather city makes it LOOK LIKE FOOTBALL to me. My bias when seeing games on TV will always be in favor of stadiums with no roof, a grass field, and preferably in a cold weather location. Football players should get dirty when they play and football teams should be well-rounded, with more than one way to win a game, making them weather-proof. If a team's fans are whining that they would have won if the weather was better or if the field was in better shape, that just means their team isn't good enough in enough ways. When the field is muddy or the wind is blowing hard your play calling has to change and your team has to be well-coached enough to pull off a different game plan. Watch some old games from the '70s/'80s and you will see 2 things: 1) several absolute cookie-cutter stadiums with terrible looking astroturf 2) some wonderful, soul-sustaining places with the crowd breathing down the necks of the teams and little to nothing in the way of corporate boxes/signage. Places like RFK in Washington D.C. and Cleveland Municipal Stadium weren't fancy, but they had ALL of the flavor of traditional football.
Now that we're around the corner from the next NFL season, I recommend watching Urinating Tree's "This Week in Sportsball" which he does every week of the NFL season
So I’m an Arsenal supporter (Stan Kroenke owns both the Rams and Arsenal) and they played Barca in a preseason friendly last month. Literally every Arsenal podcaster who went to the match was blown away by SoFi. Edit now that I hear you mention Stan: we like him quite a bit more in the past two seasons.
The Bears are the rivals of the Packers (Tom's favorite team) so yeah there is a little animosity lol Edit: The Jets and Giants have used the same stadium for years (The Jets at the time couldn't close on a deal for their own stadium) they are also not rivals in the NFL so there is no rivalry between them.
Soldier Field only looks good from the lakefront. It is very small for NFL standards, the location is terrible, the parking is terrible, and you are crushed in shoulder to shoulder when walking around. If they end up in Arlington (suburbs of Chicago), it will be a fantastic venue. There's nothing you can do with the current location on the lakefront.

That explains why he incorrectly listed 2003 as its opening date. The Packers like to claim having the oldest stadium, but this is a lie, it's Soldier Field. That also explains why he only showed the crappy overhead shot, not the skyline view. The Bears and Packers are the oldest rivalry in the NFL. We hate each other.

Lots of teams share Stadiums and Arenas in the US. Crypto arena in LA hosts the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, and Sparks. And Sofi hosts the Rams and Chargers. They have to have an army of employees.
I'm a Chiefs fan who has lived in Denver since 2012. I've been to every Broncos vs Chiefs game but 2 in that span. Mile High is just okay. It falls into that "too sterile" category as well. Arrowhead is Incredible. It's older, not as fancy as many stadiums, but there is no place better to enjoy a game. The game day atmosphere is truly special and it is so loud that the stadium shakes. That said, Denver has some of the best fans I've ever experienced watching a game with. Gillette, Lucas Oil (despite them originally placing seats behind massive concrete pillars) and the Super Dome are really fun too. The old St. Louis Rams Stadium was great.

Ask fans that went to the college national championship game how they liked Sofi stadium😂. Since it rarely rains in L.A., they didn’t take wet floors into consideration. The rain blew in during the national championship game and whatever material they used made the floors slippery af. Hundreds of fans were injured from slip and fall accidents.

Replacing NFL stadiums so often isn't about weather, it's about money. Teams can extort cities into building more lavish stadiums because they can threaten to leave if one isn't built, or move to a city that will promise millions in public money for a stadium.
Meanwhile, colleges just renovate their stadiums that were built in the 20s and 30s, and they're fine.
@nsnick199 Colleges can get away with renovating stadiums for a few reasons in my opinion. First and foremost, no one is asking for a new stadium. Second, there's usually more history and tradition. Finally, it's not like OSU can threaten to leave Columbus if a new stadium isn't built.
Precisely why St. Louis and San Diego no longer have NFL franchises. Neither city wanted to build stadiums on their dime or on the team owners terms. Funny enough, San Diego ended up demolishing Qualcomm/Jack Murphy stadium to build Snapdragon Stadium for the SDSU Aztecs a few years later after the Chargers left.
Call it whatever you want, that's just common sense business. They bring a shit load of people into the cities, who spend a lot of money. Don't wanna help pay to renovate? We'll go somewhere where they're willing to pitch in. If the team paid the entire bill and subsequently had to pay their team/staff less, you all would then cry about that. What's your solution?

I was a firefighter that responded to Katrina in 05. The story about the Superdome is something you guys should check out. It wasn't really the bastion of safety it was touted as being. My main memory of it was racing rental cars on the shutdown freeways around it with the roof covering flapping on the breeze.

The stadium next to the Texans NRG stadium is the Astrodome, former home fot he Astros and Oilers and it is where about 25,000 Hurricane Katrina evacuees from New Orleans lived after the storm.
Soldier Field is one of the oldest stadiums in the NFL. Like it said, they attempted to remodel it. I'm totally honest when I say, from the outside, it looks like they dropped a giant flying saucer on top of it.

I have visited 6 of the current NFL stadiums. Here are my mini rankings, for whatever it's worth.
1. Atlanta: Amazing architecture, great sound. A little sterile.
2. Pittsburgh: Great fan atmosphere. Great view of the bridges and river. I arrived at the game via Riverboat.
3. Tampa - Great weather. I've had great seats sometimes. The pirate ship cannons are a bit loud.
4. New England: Nice stadium. Hard core loud fans. Not as nice when it rains. A long walk from parking.
5. Detroit: Nice downtown location. Saw a great game. Lions lost, the crowd wasn't as engaged as at other stadiums (2015 wasn't a great season for the Lions.)
6. Buffalo (Orchard Park): Nice atmosphere amongst the crowd. Bench seats, but reasonably priced in 2014. A bit dated. Saw a good game.
All told, seeing an NFL game a year over 10 seasons, I never had anything that I could have considered a bad game day experience. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Love that Ford Field got some well-deserved credit in this one! It really is an underappreciated stadium and if the Lions really do finally have a good season this year, it's going to be one of the best environments in the NFL
The Arizona stadium grass is actually hovered in, on a cushion of air. The grass dies inside and turns yellow rapidly because of the stadium roof blocking the sun.
The turf is kept outside for care, maintenance and sun, then pushed inside through a door in the side of the stadium on game day.

I love Lambeau. This has to be the only list where it's ranked outside of the top 5. It's easily the most historic, and it boasts one of the games greatest gameday atmospheres, both pre, during, and post game.
Lambeau Field and the game experience at a Packers Game is as close as you can get to the College Level Atmosphere. And the shops, restaurants and taverns inside are unbelievable. Not even mentioning The Packer Hall of Fame...which there is nothing like it in the NFL...can I say Currly Lambeau, Vice Lombardi, Don Hudson, Paul Horning, Reggie White, Brett Farve, Bart Starr, Ray Nitchky, Jim Taylor, ........and next to the stadium is "Title Town"...

But if they did, public funding would be approved in a heartbeat. Put it this way, Brown County has a .5% sales tax tacked on to the states 5% sales tax. In 2022, they earned 33 million dollars from that extra tax. If they were to increase that extra tax rate to 2%, they would raise approximately 1.65 billion dollars over 10 years, which would be more than enough to pay for a stadium. I’d be willing to bet that the state of Wisconsin, or surrounding counties at the minimum, would also provide funding by way of a sales tax increase.
The team being publicly owned means that state and local governments will do whatever possible to ensure the Packers stay in Green Bay. Even though Lambeau has a Wriggly or Fenway like charm, I’m sure there’ll come a day when serious discussions about a new stadium come about. Til then, Lambeau will continue to be the Mecca for NFL football.

Pittsburg-related story: So I live in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas. This used to be the town where many, many pro baseball teams used to go for their spring training before the start of the season in the early 1900s. The local high school team used to be the Cardinals. But Pittsburgh Pirate legend Honus Wagner would coach the team while here. When he returned to Pittsburgh he had a bunch of Pirate sports gear sent to equip the teams. The school eventually changed their nickname to the Trojans but the colors have ever since been black and gold.
They left out what I think is the one the best parts about MBS: You may have noticed a distinct lack of massive car parks surrounding it. That’s because there is a subway that runs directly underneath serviced by the Green and Blue lines of MARTA and is just one stop away from the main hub for the city. I have never once driven to a game there or the Georgia Dome which sat basically at the same spot before it.
You guys should check out Tom's 30 in 30 series, even if you guys don't do reactions to it. It will give you a good idea of the fans for each team and the cities they are in. It really does give a new perspective for each team.

The Chiefs fan base covers an enormous geographical area. Essentially Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma. You have to drive to get to the games, but Kansas City has arguably the best tailgating in the NFL that goes along with KC barbecue.

How many times has your team's fans taken over an opposing stadium and made it pretty much a home game for the Chiefs? Eagles fans do it at least once a season, even across the country. We'd do it more but some cities know we'll take over and they make it a point not to sell too many tix to us.

People have no idea of how awesome and high-tech ALL of the NFL stadiums are if you actually go to them. Even the #27 ranked Jacksonville Jaguars stadium (with the swimming pools) has amazing facilities throughout the stadium. All of the stadiums have really nice restaurant areas, luxury seating areas, and other amenities that make the entire gameday experience great.
...Yet, Americans are disturbingly never satisfied and must rebuild everything new after only a few years.

On your discussion about how many of the stadiums look like they are only convenient to get to by car: that's how it is almost everywhere in America. We're very car-centric, and the vast majority of people will arrive to an NFL game by car. If you live close enough to the stadium in the city you may take some sort of public transportation to get there, but most people will be driving in from suburbs and places further outside the city. And in some cases, notably Buffalo and Green Bay, there is no public transportation at all around those stadiums
Giants and Jets have shared a stadium since they moved to New Jersey decades ago. The Giants had a stadium built there, in the Meadowlands of Jersey, in 1976-aptly named “Giants Stadium.” The Jets stayed in New York and played at Shea Stadium, home of the NY Mets at the time. It was fun watching them there, but it was not a football stadium. In 1988 they also opted to move to NJ. They would also use Giants stadium. Both teams stayed there until MetLife opened in 2010. MetLife was built in a parking lot adjacent to old Giants stadium, which was demolished a few years later. To make things more confusing is that each team retained their “NY” titles even though they played across the River in NJ. Really enjoying this channel. If you guys are ever in Dallas I’ll take you to a Cowboys game (as long as you root against them!).

Gonna admit that when I visited Highmark we parked a solid mile away from the stadium. We could not get ANY closer, I kid you not. I think I heard in the comments to the original video that they're going to bus people in from parking lots further away to handle the problem.

Lambeau at #12 is a travesty. Those bleacher seats mean there isn’t a bad seat in the house. The fans are right on top of the field.
State Farm. Field is on tracks so. "Wheeled" in by motors. It holds things like Home &Garden shows and concerts but the field is outside...
What you have to consider is that here in the US, very few places have public transportation at all, let alone an effective transit system. So except for cities like New York, Chicago, LA, etc. people have really no choice but to drive places. And places arent walkable either. So even if a smaller city may have a bus system, you'd have to walk like 45 minutes from your house just to get to the bus station to then ride for 10 minutes to get to the grocery store or something, when you could just drive the 15 minutes and be there already. So almost all architecture is designed for cars, rather than people. I wish we had more pedestrian and public transit oriented architecture.
Also, when you mentioned "but new york had a really good subway system though so i wonder why youd have to drive." Thats because the New York Giants/Jets stadium is actually in New Jersey, not New York
I was an Atlanta United season ticket holder before I moved away and Mercedes Benz is a great place to watch games. Something that wasn't mentioned is how cheap concessions are. Hot dogs are only $2, beer is $5 and everything else is pretty much cheaper than any other NFL stadium.

There is public transport to a lot of these stadiums, but in the US there is much more reliance on personal vehicles. There is a large portion of fans who will attend by car. Not sure about the actual ratio, and im sure it depends on the stadium. For my home stadium of Metlife in NJ, that massive parking lot will get pretty crowded by gametime
I've never seen an NFL stadium list before that had Lumin Field even close to being as low as 19th. The lowest ranking I could find was 10th, and the highest was 4th, and all were ranked higher than Levi Stadium by at least 5 spots.

MetLife stadium is a pain to get too because the Stadium is in New Jersey,which isn't conected to the New York subway system despite East Rutherford being considered part of the New York Metro area.
As someone who did marching band on the field at Lucas Oil (the colts stadium) I can say it is crazy nice inside. And when you stand on that field and listen to a crowd it’s so loud you can’t hear anything else. Crazy good environment

I have always thought So Fi had the most beautiful exterior, but the Falcons’ stadium looks pretty awesome inside and out. I’ve been n their old stadium, but now I see I need to head back to Atlanta and visit the new one.
Tom Grossi just started his NFL division predictions. He starts with the NFC North. It is a quick review and will familiarize you with some players. Tom is not from Green Bay. Green Bay defeated his father’s favorite team, the Cowboys (he lives in NY/NJ), when he was young, so Tom became a Green Bay fan.
If I can give you guys a little information on the bills stadium, I’m a local born and raised and try to get to about 4 games a season here in my adulthood. A lot of the parking for the stadium, is where they are building the new stadium. And like Tom said, they are going to have the same issue when they demo the old stadium. Parking is absolutely insane at a bills game for multiple reasons. For one, everyone tailgates. It’s not just a football game it’s a full fledged party. The locals use their lawns and charge for parking. The other issue is that it’s in the suburbs. In theory more room for parking but the issue is everyone has to drive there! If it was in the inner city or downtown there would be less room for parking lots, but a lot more options for public transportation and carpooling and what not. That being said I am happy the bills didn’t get moved to Toronto and am excited for the new building! It is modeled roughly after the Tottenham hotspurs stadium but bigger. ⭕️ Also side note: LA and NY teams play in the same stadium, and there is a rivalry because it’s a “Derby“ match as you guys would call it, but they are in different conferences so the rivalry’s aren’t that strong because they don’t play each other often and don’t play each other in the playoffs (except possibly a superbowl but I don’t think that has ever happened)
Nick, you were spot on with your guess as to why Arizona wheels their field in and out of the stadium. It is a permanent dome, but they're able to use natural grass indoors by caring for the grass outside during the week and bringing it inside on game day.
A similar system is used in Las Vegas.
Yea, Arizona does an awesome job with how they care for their field at State Farm Stadium. Despite the fact that they were criticized for the field they used for Super Bowl 57 in their stadium earlier this year, mainly due to them overwatering the field, causing it to be slippery at certain spots, and that it wasn't sanded enough.
Yeah everything in Pittsburgh has a fantastic backdrop because you are always on the shore of one of Three Rivers. The Ohio, the Monongahela or the Allegany, sometimes all three.

The Jets and Giants have played in the same stadium for decades. LA Rams and LA Chargers share a stadium that was built a few years ago. This is why there are 30 stadiums even though there are 32 teams.

For Levi's Stadium, with the 49ers, it will be hosting both a Superbowl and the World Cup in 2026, so they are planning some fan experiences and upgrades around the area, so it should get better soon.

Me: Then there's the terrible location where there's nothing else in the area, overpriced regular and season tickets, price-gouged beer (sometimes stale)/water/food (sometimes barely edible even with liberal amounts of condiments), the parking lot nightmare of arriving and leaving the stadium... and much more. 😒

Arizona grows natural grass on a platform outside and wheels the field inside on tracks to protect fans from the intense heat of the Arizona desert. Las Vegas does the same thing.

Chiefs parking lots is because the Royals (baseball) stadium literally next to it and they have occasionally had games at same/similar times. Many people take busses/shuttles but the primary way to go is by car because the Chiefs represent an extremely large area in the MidWest. Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri are just the closest Chiefs "home" areas. People drive 3 hours to get to home games on occasion.
As someone that has to drive over 3 hours to watch the Chiefs play, it’s not that bad. But yeah, Chiefs Kingdom covers a huge geographic area. The next closest NFL teams would be 6 hours away by car.

I don't see how Seattle's field could be so low on this list. It's beautiful and so damned loud. Great food, the Hawks Nest bleachers at the end of the field are great too.
I went to Sofi twice. First Rams football game ever played in the stadium then I went to Rams vs 49ers semi final game and it is amazing. It’s too young to have its own traditions at the moment but the inside is like 10k then when you leave the stadium normal life is quite dull. I’ve spoke to some people who have seen concerts there and they said it was top notch for those events as well. Then my brother ended up going to the Rams vs Bangles SuperBowl and he could not even explain the atmosphere and just the insanity of a spectacle there at Sofi. It really is amazing. I live about 30 mins from sofi but Hopefully I can also get a chance to check out the Raiders new stadium in Vegas the next time I drive over there. About 4 hrs drive.
To be fair, when Tom came to Philly, we were under an air quality advisory due to the wildfires in Canada. I bet The Linc will be ranked higher next time he comes😊

I think they get hate because they took a very old stadium and built a ufo saucer into it. Also he’s obviously a packers fan so its biased. Packers/bears are the oldest and one of the biggest rivalries

Fyi, there was serious movement/action being taken about year ago for a new indoor/outdoor stadium to be built for the team, but the owner butted heads with government officials and the project got canned. Hopefully they try again soon to get it built! (I imagine that if Young does well for us over the next couple of years, there will be enough momentum/hype surrounding the team to get the project through to the finish line)

Since you were talking about parking at the Bills stadium: It's located in a suburb, so there are a lot of houses nearby. The people who live close enough use their front yards as parking lots. It's cheaper than the cost of parking at the stadium and the prices get lower the further you are from the stadium.

As a Pats fan, I'm not surprised Gillette Stadium is in the middle. It's for sure, a huge upgrade over the dump that was the old Foxboro Stadium that preceded it. It's a cool place to see a game, and as Tom alluded to, they have been renovating the past couple years, with the new 220 foot lighthouse that is part of the entrance in the north endzone, where you can see the Boston and Providence skylines from the observation deck. Lots of awesome places to eat, a bowling alley, a theatre, and the Patriots Hall of Fame building. It's pretty much DisneyWorld for not only Pats fans, but for all NFL fans.
For Arizona, it is a real grass turf. the field is on a roller system so it can move outdoors for watering and sun to grow.

When teams share stadiums it simply creates a scheduling issue. Unless they play each other thay can't both play on the home field at the same time. One could play an early game at 1 pm and the other at 7 pm but turning over the field logos and decorations is an issue. Schedulers try to schedule them for home and away opposite each other or for Sunday Monday and Thursday night games.

Some colleges also have an enclosed stadium. Like where my Florida gators play it is pretty vertical. But one other thing about it is it's actually built in a sinkhole. Generates crazy echo on the field and gets loud. Holds 88k+
Something cool they don’t mention in the video is the cowboys stadium has massive retractable shutter’s built specifically for the sun to get in the enemy QBs eyes. The cowboys usually play at 4 o’clock so If the enemy team is facing west in the second half they will open them to blind the QB on purpose. I don’t like the cowboys but pretty neat
Soldier field actually has atmosphere and it's got a great view of the Chicago skyline. It's in downtown Chicago. Sure it's not the best stadium but it's not the 3rd worst.

Re: giant parking lots -- City planners in the US have been taking money from car manufacturers pretty much since the car was invented so now it's practically impossible to get anywhere without a car outside of a select few urban areas. I'm a little surprised you don't know this, it's part of the Murican stereotype
Highmore stadium currently has a lot of parking, but they're building the new stadium on top of what was 2 parking lots. So that's cutting the parking capacity quite a bit, until they can get new parking lots set up once the old stadium goes bye bye.
I went to a Bears game, soldier parking is miserable. Had to use spot hero to find parking in a lot that was a mile away and walked to the stadium.
I enjoy the panther stadium. I'm a fan and I live in clt. They just added new vip suite style seats to the front row in a few places. Very nice! Also added a field bar behind the end zone as well.

I have only ever been to a Panthers game so I don't really think about the fan experience on-site when thinking about NFL stadiums. Instead my mind goes to how fun a stadium is to see games in on TV and a ranking that way would seriously shake up the list. Soldier Field, for example, is one that I really love watching on TV. It's an older, smaller stadium, so the fans are right on top of the action and the fact that it's open air in a cold weather city makes it LOOK LIKE FOOTBALL to me.
My bias when seeing games on TV will always be in favor of stadiums with no roof, a grass field, and preferably in a cold weather location. Football players should get dirty when they play and football teams should be well-rounded, with more than one way to win a game, making them weather-proof. If a team's fans are whining that they would have won if the weather was better or if the field was in better shape, that just means their team isn't good enough in enough ways. When the field is muddy or the wind is blowing hard your play calling has to change and your team has to be well-coached enough to pull off a different game plan.
Watch some old games from the '70s/'80s and you will see 2 things: 1) several absolute cookie-cutter stadiums with terrible looking astroturf 2) some wonderful, soul-sustaining places with the crowd breathing down the necks of the teams and little to nothing in the way of corporate boxes/signage. Places like RFK in Washington D.C. and Cleveland Municipal Stadium weren't fancy, but they had ALL of the flavor of traditional football.

Soldier Field only looks good from the lakefront.
It is very small for NFL standards, the location is terrible, the parking is terrible, and you are crushed in shoulder to shoulder when walking around.
If they end up in Arlington (suburbs of Chicago), it will be a fantastic venue. There's nothing you can do with the current location on the lakefront.

That explains why he incorrectly listed 2003 as its opening date. The Packers like to claim having the oldest stadium, but this is a lie, it's Soldier Field. Lots of teams share Stadiums and Arenas in the US. Crypto arena in LA hosts the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, and Sparks. And Sofi hosts the Rams and Chargers. They have to have an army of employees.
I'm a Chiefs fan who has lived in Denver since 2012. I've been to every Broncos vs Chiefs game but 2 in that span. Mile High is just okay. It falls into that "too sterile" category as well. Arrowhead is Incredible. It's older, not as fancy as many stadiums, but there is no place better to enjoy a game. The game day atmosphere is truly special and it is so loud that the stadium shakes. That said, Denver has some of the best fans I've ever experienced watching a game with. Gillette, Lucas Oil (despite them originally placing seats behind massive concrete pillars) and the Super Dome are really fun too. The old St. Louis Rams Stadium was great.

Ask fans that went to the college national championship game how they liked Sofi stadium😂. Since it rarely rains in L.A., they didn’t take wet floors into consideration. The rain blew in during the national championship game and whatever material they used made the floors slippery af. Hundreds of fans were injured from slip and fall accidents.
