  • Aluminium and plastic coffee pods collected by Podback are recycled in the UK, and this film explains how it happens.
The pods are shredded to remove the coffee. The empty plastic pods are recycled in Yorkshire, and the aluminium pods are recycled in Cheshire. The recycled materials are then used in the manufacture of new products, including packaging, furniture and building products.
Coffee grounds are treated by anaerobic digestion, which creates renewable energy and soil improver.

I've just received the Podback flyer through the post and I've immediately signed up for East Ayrshire Council kerbside collection. This is an excellent initiative; I love everything about it! I've been using Dolce Gusto pods for quite a few years but have always felt slightly guilty about land-filling them, so this takes care of that, at last. Can't wait to receive my bags and get started. You guys are also sending me a free "drainage caddy" as well (thanks!) Great stuff.

@@podback_uk702 Hey there! Has it only been 8 months? The service is excellent. I've had to reorder bags once and they arrived about 3 days later. Having the caddy is great as well, I get about two weeks worth of pods in it. East Ayrshire collect them without any problems, so there's not much to say except it "just works"! Thanks for providing this service, I really appreciate it and I hope it's working out for you guys too. Cheers!

Alu residue in your coffee, plastic to transport, the used beans need upcycled, and new alu added to make new pods, its simply not best enviro choice - I prefer filter coffee, and the used beans and filter goes into my compost and make great potatoes next year. Are you part of the problem, or part of the solution?

Hay... i didnt know you could do that?, I WAS Confused where you said tip liquid away out the pod? IVE BEEN CUTTING THE Foil off and rinsing them out for you under the water tap and the coffee out of the pod's contents after ive used it. YOU WAS NOT CLEAR ON THIS! if you said no need to wash them, just give them a little shake that there not really really wet thatll be fine
