I Powerslide around the ball and got as close as possible for as long as possible. A few to a couple hours should acclimate a player and give them what they need to take it on the field and refine it as necessary. I also like using Powerslide along the walls to get used to the momentum for Chain Dashes, yes, Powerslide helps to do chain dashes along the wall if timed correctly with the momentum.
Thank you Flakes. I gave up on this playstyle because I could never outplay my champ opponents, as they would go for everything and go super fast. I'll try it again after I practice this more.
Was in the same boat but it all comes to the ball control so you get the setup faster and can cut in time. Also to know when to cut and when to 50/50 if there's no time. Any improvements after 11months ;)?
@@drxp6544 I guess my point is more along the lines of i haven't ever seen him so sincerely thank the audience before. Like he looked like he really meant it there
The way I started learning was to get the ball rolling to the side very slowly, and then practice power slide cut with no boost. Without boost it's easier to see what's going on. You want to be able to cut the ball one way, and then cut it the other way, all the way up the field. Later on try introducing boost. Eventually try it in game. I do not care if I win or lose, I care about getting one power slide cut on my opponent. Attempting it under pressure is different than training.
@@vincentcuibus9135 I hate 1s lmao but I've done some pretty dirty powerslide cuts. Sometimes the opponent just forfeits out of embarrassment. Sometimes I pinch the ball into my net too because I'm still terrible at the game.
Hey Flakes, just wanna say thanks for teaching me how to not be bad & to play patient. Turns out, I had C3 mechanics with D2 game sense for the last 2 months
I only wish people would explain when to power cut. That is the only thing I don’t understand. I am finally starting to understand it though. Thanks for the tips man!
Like what do you not get about it. You just need to keep the same motion constant with the tornado spin and release and adjust using boost. And go for the flick on the windshield of the car with no sparkes.
I usually fake direaction change when the normal powerslide cut is too predictable, or i've doing it too much. Fake direction changes are really good most of the time because you can transition them into low fifties (or something else) if you don't get an instant outplay
I absolutely love this style of rocket League play! I was super happy to see that he was playing the backfire at the end there since that's my main. I'd love to learn how to play this way but was afraid I'd have to play something like the Merc for it to be successful.
Here's a slight issue. I notice that since Flakes has powerslide bound to right bumper he can powerslide and boost at the same time, which he does when he cuts. I have boost bound to b/circle so I can't do it at the same time... is this going to be a problem for me?
Thanks for the tutorial man. Soon there will be a 1v1 tourney on a convention I'll go and this is really helpful. I will practice it on freeplay and my 1v1 games

How do you set the ball in front of you with bakkas mod? I know how to start possession and a dribble but when flakes resets the ball it spawns around a car length in front of his car. Thanks tech support lol 😆 💙
The timing is surprisingly hard to do well at first. Keep at it. Flakes makes it look easy because he's learned the timing through all his experience. You have to watch the opponent, and AS SOON AS they look like they will commit, go for the cut. If you don't do it really early, they get the dunk. Flakes is always saying, "exaggerate the outplay!" You have to cut away from the net, fast, as soon as you see them commit to challenging you.
@@johnhancock1748 I mean it's his youtube channel.. of course he will see it if he looks at the comments, now if he replies or not is a different question. Am i too late or too far away or what idk
I see a lot of pro in 1v1 dropping the ball slowly to fake, then powerslide cut OR diag flick the ball on the ground OR rarely if they have the space doing a hook shot to score directly
I can wavedash, ceilingshot, aerial/air-dribble, double touch, half-flip, flick and am currently somewhere in champ. I still can not for the life of me, power slide cut the ball in a way that keeps me possession.
i’m in champ rn too, the trick is to hit it more to the side and not go forward. The goal of the cut is more to beat your opponent who challenges than to get a direct shot on net
Sounds absolutely garbage because it is garbage but I finally understood how the fakes are propose to be used properly. The sense behind it is to bring the enemy in an alarm, you're kinda somewhere pre-positioning into mid-field direction with your car. Once the enemy tries to challenge the ball away because he goes a bit up, you lower fake him. Thx for the brief explanation! We need more tutorials made by you.
