- It's here, and it is GORGEOUS! Get an early and up close look at everything we just bought from Claudie's newly expanded collection!
This beautiful doll deserves all the love and I'm SO happy she got some charming, thoughtful items and outfits to add to her collection. Enjoy!

I really hope they make a Christmas dress for Claudie I really miss the holiday dresses that American Girl makes. I wish they bring the holiday dresses soon or later.
I know people were bummed they didn't do one for Courtney. I guess if they also don't do one for Claudie that will be an indicator of a more permanent change.
I was super impressed by everything added to her collection. It really felt like they put thought and effort into the pieces and took into account some of the critiques that were shared. I'm not a PC purist by any means, and I don't tend to think PC did everything right, but this did feel like a nod to some of the PC ways of doing things while still being realistic about modern materials (yes, the suitcase is plastic rather than wood, but it's a really amazing plastic and feels wonderful!). I loved the historical lessons in the pamphlets - those were always some of my favourite bits as a kid (though I was, and remain, a nerd). I am so curious about the little story that is woven in the Christmas pamphlets. It makes me wonder if we're going to get some sort of holiday story for Claudie, either as an early reader or picture book or something, or a short story.
Yes! I really hope it's a hint at a holiday story, and I agree - even having the author and the whole L.A. special event felt like an indication that they've been hearing our frustrations. And yes, she's being released between two special edition dolls, but with the frequency of AG's releases these days it's all but impossible not to have that. It's WAY different then burying her under a huge HP collab and 20+ new dolls at once. This time around, I feel like Claudie is being treated better. Now, about that catalog cover though...
It is really nice that Claudie is getting some new pieces to her collection. I like that AG seemed to put a lot of thought in care into every little detail. They didn’t just make all of the pieces be accurate to the 1920’s but also included some famous black authors and entrepreneurs in Claudine’s accessories as well. I know it’s part of her story but for AG’s targeted audience, this can give them a whole new perspective on life in the 1920s that is often omitted.
YES! For people who already know about the Harlem Renaissance and the amazing Black poets, musicians, entrepreneurs, etc. of that era - especially for Black doll collectors - I imagine it's very special to see those stories told and those names acknowledged as brilliant and important. And for people who *don't* know about that part of our country's history, like you said - it's an opportunity to expand their worldview and learn about a vibrant and fascinating time and place. It feels like a win-win to me.
Claudie has quickly become one of my favorite historicals! I haven't been able to get her yet but I plan on getting something from this new release but I can't decide what I want to get!
If it were me, I'd get her travel accessories. My reasoning? You can get etsy outfits for her very easily, but the scented soap...the Madam CJ Walker items and their historical significance...I just think that one will be harder to find a good dupe for. But all of it is very nice so you can't go wrong.

Her mint green coat is perfection! I don't have a Claudie sadly but I might have to save to at least get that coat.

Right?!? I can feel the love and thoughtfulness that went into designing this doll and especially this release.
I’m so obsessed with this new release, and it makes me want Claudie finally! This is what I wanted for her all along - 1920s accurate clothing and accessories, not a bunch of inspired by costumes. You know how I am about my historical dolls! The green coat is my favorite, but I love the Velveteen Rabbit plush and book, the dress, and the Madame CJ Walker products! I will at least get everything for my historical #58, if not Claudie herself.
YES! I think this is what a lot of us are feeling. Some of us have loved this doll since day one and been bitterly disappointed that AG did her so wrong. This release makes me feel like they heard that collective frustration and are trying to make up for burying her under a huge HP collab and an entire TM line revamp.
@@agtakesover I did love her from day one as well, but between having over 50 dolls and her lackluster collection, I was trying to talk myself out of not needing her. 😂
@@starryeyeschick Oh, I'm sorry. I might have worded that poorly. I wasn't trying to imply you hadn't loved her from day one. I just meant that all of us (customers) who've adored this doll have been waiting on AG to get it together and give her her due and I'm glad they finally seem to be doing just that.
Great video! I purchased Claudie last week and her new white and blue polka dot dress, waiting for her to arrive. She will be my fourth AG doll. 😊

You're welcome - she is genuinely one of the most beautiful dolls AG has made. And that's not the "novelty" factor speaking, since we've gotten plenty of dolls since getting her. She just has such a lovely face and while her collection doesn't rival Pleasant Company quality or detail, it's pretty darn good by current AG standards. Things feel very cohesive and thought-out. Even if AG has done her wrong in terms of promotion, whoever was involved in creating the doll, her items, and her stories put a LOT of love into it and it shows.

You're welcome - If I had to pick just one thing from this release, it'd probably be the travel accessories closely followed by the travel outfit!
I wasn’t interested in Claudia in the beginning, but once I took a good look at her I think she’s adorable! I love her outfits and accessories. I think I will be getting her now. We never had an AG girl with curly hair. Thanks for sharing❤
She's SO lovely. She has one of the prettiest molds and out of our entire collection (which is large lol) she's definitely in my top 10. I'm glad you're planning to get her!

I am very impressed by American Girl. The Madam CJ Walker accessories make me want to buy Claudie and everything from this release. The only thing that I don't like is the velcro on her coat. I saw someone on Instagram post a video. I hope they update it like they did to Rebecca's coat in the future.
Agreed. The part of me that tries to think about things from an accessibility perspective appreciates velcro (my father and his parkinsons...folks with arthritis...etc benefit from velcro or magnetic closures). But for historical accuracy it definitely doesn't fit. and YES about the Madam CJ Walker items. It made me so happy to see them!

Right?! Between the Christmas outfit/accessories combo and the travel one, I prefer the combo one but obviously we jumped at the chance to get it all.

I absolutely adore Claudie’s new stuff and I’m so glad you posted this review. I also got the stuff yesterday as you know but I’m not getting any of my new stuff out until my oldest 2 go to college next month and I gain access back to my doll room and doll closet. My Claudie is in her room in the dollhouse that is walled off by extra stuff being stored in the room so my kids can have full access to the basement to hang with heir friends. Once they leave I can take everything back out and recommence organizing as well as dress Claudie in her new clothes and decorate her room with her new stuff. I’m excited for your next video and can’t wait to see your new doll space. So happy for you guys!
Well, by the time your older ones go back to school, the dust will have settled here from my own frenzied work in the basement so if you want an organizing buddy just holler :-)
@@agtakesover thanks! You are welcome anytime :) I will relish the day where everything I have is unboxed and set up and I can just dress a doll whenever I want. I made such great strides in my organization efforts until they got derailed by my father’s passing and then having to have the basement available for the older kids. There was about to be a mutiny by the “adult” children ;) due to my stuff surrounding the pool table. I also have like 10 dolls I still need to customize that I never got around to finishing.
I know you've had a lot of extenuating circumstances. But your space will get back to being a space you can access and enjoy :-)

Thank you for your review, how cool are these items, I bet this material for the dress is supposed to mimic voile, batiste, lawn or silk, all summer fabrics. That hat is just gorgeous.
I am so excited! My Miss Claudie will be too! I am still debating getting her accessories but these are a must. That dress would be hard to find the fabric for. I just had to get her early and adore her.
But first comes my granddaughters Kavi for her birthday.

YAY! I'm so glad I sold you on her travel accessories :-) And honestly, if I could only afford one of the four items from this release, I'd pick the travel accessories. The Madam CJ Walker details, the hair comb and scented soap, I really did feel the attention to detail and the love that went into Claudie and her stories with that set! Also, hell yes for being proud of the things we work hard at and for not feeling the need to hide that pride. I'm so excited to share the basement with everyone. Over the past few nights I've been moving dolls from their shelves upstairs to the different dollhouse rooms down there and I LOVE it!

I wonder if they will make a Christmas dress for Claudie I hope so. I love the hat. The suitcase looks authentic. Those are they type of items I love when creating their display. I have Molly's suitcase. I may cover the soap box with tape to keep it from getting destroyed. LOVE IT.
That's a really good idea about the soap box. Especially because with it being scented, I can see me taking it out more often and that could cause more wear and tear on the box. We were trying to peek under the display Claudie's coat yesterday just to see what they had her in and it looked like they'd grabbed one who was already in her magenta and black dance costume.

That is so strange about the yellow vs brown shoe laces. Glad they didn't decided on the yellow. So glad your coat purchase went towards the Columbus sales. :) That's great that they had 3 of the items. Thanks for showing everything up close and in detail. Really nice! I love the Velveteen Rabbit, but I can't see myself spending $34 for that set. Especially since my Oh Deer birthday present is now put away in my house and I've already decided that I can have her early if I come up with enough money early. The outfit is really cute, but I don't usually put hats on my dolls and you can tell they put a lot of the money in this set into that nice hat. But I'm SOOOO glad that they've finally given Claudie more attention. She deserves every bit of that attention and more! Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, I'm definitely glad they went with brown laces. And 100% agreed that it's great to see Claudie getting some of the attention she deserves from AG. Side note - I know you must be looking forward to your newest doll and I look forward to seeing her over on Insta.

@@agtakesover I'm so glad you saw her. :) I've been on ebay for 20 years and I saw Kirsten's work there first and never thought I could afford her dolls. But when I wanted a Jess mold with red hair and green eyes and I kept looking at CYO's for $200, I finally realized that Kirsten was a much better choice. I couldn't bring myself to spend the $200 and not be able to see the doll until it was too late. When I found out that she had her own website and that she would customize exactly who you wanted, then the fun really began. :) It took me forever to ask Kirsten how to pronounce her name, but I'm so glad I did because I was pronouncing wrong in my head too. :)
That makes perfect sense. And even if you'd thought the CYO option was reasonably priced, you have access to more wig options this way. And I won't get a Jess mold CYO bc I don't like the newer mold that much, so if I were getting a red-haired green-eyed Jess mold, I'd look for an older doll and have *that one* customized.

I am especially excited about the Christmas accessories. The plush rabbit is a plush version of the Velveteen Rabbit. The book, included in this set, was first published in 1922. It includes a piece of history that we don’t experience anymore (illnesses we have vaccines for and how to disinfect toys, etc after someone recovers).
The little information pamphlets are interesting. The shoelaces look like they are in the exact same position in both pamphlets, which means it was a production/color issue and not a prototype change.
I agree - seems like a production or color issues. Kind of a fun detail to notice and I'm glad we got one of each version of the pamphlet. I'm glad you'll be adding some of these lovely items to your collection!

I found out through another researcher that the rabbit is based on a Steiff rabbit from 1900-1915. I looked up “1902 toy rabbit” and quickly found an image that looks like Claudie’s rabbit. I love the historical details they added to all of the new pieces!

Hi Kristie. I just got to watch this tonight! lol. Claudie is adorable!! I am waiting to make it to the store to pick her out. Probably end of August. (my store is 3 hours away). I always enjoy how descriptive you are with all of the items you show. It definitely gives viewers confidence when considering an accessory or outfit purchase. I did not read everyone's comments, but not sure if you realized that the bunny in Claudie's collection is the Velveteen Rabbit from the book that was included. :) Have a great weekend!

Your nail Polish is lovely! This review has made me want Thor GOTY doll. I didn’t intend to collect her but her stuff is really nice. Her brown boots look like Kit’s from her overall outfit.

They are similar to the Ireland outfit or Blaire's comfy dress and leggings outfit. I think they're nice and a good wardrobe stable :-)

They are Linzer cookies. The fillings used in those are jams and Jellies. They really do look like that. Cute set!

I don't know if Mattel has already made up its mind about which stores are on the chopping block, but just in case, we're trying to do minimal online shopping and buy there instead. And yes, I can totally see some fantastic beasts living in the suitcase. I'm so over the moon that she's finally gotten new stuff and that it's all so lovely!

As a kid I was lucky enough to get to go to the original store on Chicago Ave and have been to the new Watertower location 3 times in the past 2 years since I started collecting as an adult, this time is even more exciting because my cousin (who had Molly when we were growing up) and her hubby are coming up from Colorado to come with us, she came with us back in May and loved it so much, got her first doll as an adult and were planning on corrupting her husband this time!

That's awesome! I've been to Tyson's Corner (DC) once, Chicago once, and my local store (Columbus) more times than I can count. We're so worried it's going to be one of the smaller ones that closes so we go all the time to soak it all up for as long as we can.@@Alixthecollector

I feel this dilemma. I think I would probably go for Claudie's stuff - not because it's the new shiny thing, but because I want Black dolls and their collections to sell well and Mattel will look at those initial sales numbers as indications of the excitement surrounding a doll. That said, Nanea's swimsuit is lovely (we have it and it's also great for mix and match) so there's really not a wrong answer.

They're both good (though my book related memory is so bad I should probably read them again).
If you buy a doll at the store, do you have to take it home in a box or will the store help you get the doll out of the box?
You don't have to take it home in a box. Most ppl do but if you want to get the doll's ears pierced at the store, for example, or want to take pics with your doll at the store, you can certainly open it up right then and there.
