One can’t imagine the modern BBC showing such traditional things as a man and a woman being married; the contemporary version would be less wholesome in every regard. They might even use an aeroplane with a nosewheel and self-starter!
What joy to watch this lovely film again. It brought back special memories of landing my Aeronca AC11 at Bodmin when Ben Cox parked alongside with G-AEFT and produced a period petrol can to refuel. Happy days.
Thanks for showing this again. I remember watching this back then and I have never forgotten it. Even though the BBC promptly did and there was no way they were ever going give it a repeat.
"Perhaps the tyres are pumped up too much." ROTFL!! That was a very enjoyable story... played so much (IMHO) like a Monty Python skit! Brilliant! (Except for that accidental starting incident.) Thank you! I wonder if they ever found those little engine bits...
I recorded it off the telly on good old Betamax when it came on. I'll send you a copy if you like on a DVD. Your picture quality is slightly better I think.
Thank you, the film is also uploaded on youtube by another channel, in slightly better quality. I realised that I had it on my laptop (VHS converted to DVD and then downloaded into the ‘pooter; it seemed churlish not to post the thing as my channel is so inspired by Major Parham and his Aeronca.
A charming little film. It’s amazing to realise that when it was made, FT was already over 50 years old and now around 90.
thanks for that what an interesting story
How I wish that the BBC of today could make such a simple and charming program.

@@FlyingForFunTrecanair A "nosewheel!!?" Heavens to Gimbal, *NO!*
What a splendid story!
Marvellous!
What a beautiful simple little film !!

That was in 2002!

It’s rather become the sound track to my life!
Just the job 👍. A cracking film and the perfect excuse for avoiding worrying the grass with the lawnmower on a breezy afternoon. Cheers 🫖☕️
Cutting the grass just encourages it to grow. It’s a bit like being nice to houseguests; Benjamin Franklin had a strong opinion on that.
Brilliant, I'd never seen this before.
Great doco well done 🙂
Made by the BBC back in the day when they were a quality organisation.
Thanks, that was fun. :)
Loved it!
It’s indeed a splendid film 🙂
An amazing story, and I like happy endings, although it is not cool any more they would have us believe. Thank you for posting
Yes, it’s a great story. I hope to make a follow up film and visit some of the locations in the future.

Yes, I often wonder where it all went. The propeller survives; one of Jack Parham’s grandsons has it in his home 🙂
@@FlyingForFunTrecanair Too funny! Thanks, Nick. Opps, now my dog wants walkies... Looking forward to your next adventure!
Thank you for showing this film it was so relaxing, it would be interesting to hear how it was turned back from a glider to a powered aircraft,
@@johnshufflebottom7907 All will be revealed in my film of the making of the film. Coming soon!
I have a DVD of this, but I think that yours is actually better quality video!
FT as a glider, slope soaring is quite a find in the film, bet he had the cg slightly further aft.
All will be revealed in my film about the making of the film!
