What's your thoughts about evolution of the monsters and animals in Zelda as the timeline progresses? Like do you think their evolution developments make sense in the point of time they live in?
@@mailliw94 oh no, a UA-cam content creator wants to make money from his videos. God forbid they don't just create content for free for a bunch of entitled people on the internet.
I was legit saying "thank you Demise, much appreciated" when he said he'd wait for me to get ready for our battle. I was really REALLY worried I'd have to continue on after both the monster hoard and Girahim. I was honestly so grateful for the demon king wanting chance farest fight.
Only unfair thing he did was disable your skyward strike. If you ask Fi for advice she’ll directly tell you that Demise put a magical barrier in place so you couldn’t skyward strike. (In the remake version idk about the original). Though I do agree, I loved how he gives you a moment to prepare. Though I think it’s mainly done out of cockiness. Since he sees Link (you) as a mir weak mortal.
One other thing I love about ghirahim fights is the player/link's progression. I imagine first time players are just getting the hang of the motion controls, but are hardly experts. The fact that ghirahim in phases one and two can steal your sword if you get caught in his defense too long is a brilliant moment of fear and confusion as you feel totally powerless. By the second fight the player has gotten to a point where the fight is challenging, but you're more on equal ground. By the end you feel like a master as you've slaughtered around a hundred bokoblins and are now overwhelming him as you as a player have mastered the blade.
I also love how ghirahim progresses from toying around with link then becoming more and more frustrated and incredulous before finally snapping of some raw one liners before the final battle
I actually beat his first fight in less than a minute while doing that FREAKING DRAGON'S gauntlet challenge. Honestly had a hard time believing I'd struggled against him the first time.

Man... The Imprisoned had such potential to be one of the coolest concepts of a boss in potentially the entire series! I definitely agree with your point about the third encounter being the only time would have worked really well. Demise is an unmatched number 1 for me. THE Zelda Boss! 🔥
The most hardest part of fighting the imprisoned is on his 2 and 3 fight with him when he landed his feet on the ground he makes shock waves and that really hard to cut his strange toe thing’s
@@Isaacthebiggestmoviefan57 if you struggle with the toes, you can run ahead of the Imprisoned to a higher ledge and jump onto his head! You have to stun it with the Groosenator first though or else it'll throw you off
I agree Demise is an amazing boss, with an actual character you are facing off against. One of the reasons why I liked Ghirahim so much. Really is too bad that Koloktos is in this game, Demise will always be my second tho.
@@Isaacthebiggestmoviefan57 the way I popped his toes is by using bombs. When he steps on it, 3 of his toes are gone. If he's moving too fast, I use the bow.

@@taze1856 funny thing is for me, I thought the demise fight was a huge let down when I first played the game. Idk if I just thought he was too easy after the ghirahim fight, or that I was completely upgraded, but I would not put him in the top 3. I respect your opinion though, just wasn't my fav fight.
That boss fight could have made Moldarach indestructible, a feature of reaching maturity for the species, and the entire fight is trying to get to, or release a timeshift stone while avoiding the invincible arachnid.
@@Novarcharesk and to make it fair, it's like a giant claw machine up top that's transferring the time rift stone. So you only have certain moments where you can do damage.
I would have loved to see that in the repeat fight. The first one needs to be a suitably epic encounter, but then the second can have a "you know what? no." moment tied to it for laughs.
Look: the Imprisoned is slow as hell WHEN YOU FIGHT HIM THE NORMAL WAY. So don't. Jump onto his head *while he's walking upright* and just hit the pillar into his head that way. Use a single down swing then do a spin attack downward, that'll make the fight a lot quicker. The Imprisoned doesn't have to be a slow-as-a-slug boss fight where you just keep hitting his toes until he dies. Trust me.
how do people not now about this method? I figured it out on my first fight after getting frustrated at the shockwaves by his feet EDIT: you can also catch the updraft from the sealing spike's hole to skydive onto him, way easier than using the groosenator to launch yourself
I gave this one a shot and it definitely made it quicker and honestly a bit more tense. After all he'll rocket himself further up each time you get that strike in and with the faster pace it all happens in a hurry. The toe option is there, but definitely isn't the only way to tackle this guy. Definitely helps the fight avoid feeling too dragged out.
Fun Fact: Koloktos's child laugh is also in Splatoon. At night on the Museum D'Alfonsino map, there are two statues that can be heard laughing on opposite ends of the map.
I still feel Tentalus is a Monsters Inc. reject. Celia's lost cousin or something. One thing I'm not a fan of in Zelda's boss design is "massive colorful eyeball". It's almost ridiculous at this point, especially how they felt the need to retrofit giant balloon eyes on Majora's Masks bosses for the "remake". Thank god the Ganon Blights do have eyeball weakpoint, but it's tiny. With that said, I don't have an issue with monsters that ARE an eyeball. Like Vaati or something.
You’ve never played skyward sword interactively until you play with the controls divided between two people. It’s a teamwork that makes it much more difficult but more rewarding
I think Ghirhaim final form and Demise are tied at first for me. The bosses are punishing if you still aren't comfortable with the motion controls and parrying. Not to mention how satisfying it is to steal Demise's lightning.
That’s true, but Girahim is my all time favorite villain. Not Zelda villain just villain put of every game, movie and show. For me, this is Girahim in a nutshell: “Oh I’m going to look amazing, take this, oh I’m going to look amazing take that”
@@ChaosCat942 I love how Ghirhaim doesn't bother learning your name in the first fight but he learns your name because of how much of a threat and annoyance you've become. That's what I love about him.
@@ChaosCat942 : Yeah, Ghirahim is an excellent example of what I like in a villain with a crazy personality: A weird or wild exterior, but with the skill and brutality to BACK IT UP. I can never really get into villains when I feel like I'm expected to be so afraid of this weird/wacky/sly/cutesy character that only ends up being a threat because the story says so. Whether it's BS magic, lots of goons or tech to do the work for them, or some other reason why the plot says they get to do whatever they want, it just falls flat when it feels like they aren't genuinely smart or tough enough to back up their (usually) overconfident attitude, and ending them feels less like a satisfying victory than finally crushing an annoying bug. That feeling generally bleeds into their actual boss fights too, making them more annoying than intimidating to deal with. Ghirahim is an example of this done RIGHT. His battle animations really sell his skill and make him feel like a threat. His character can turn on a dime from flamboyance to business and even feels convincing when he's in his early phases and just toying with Link. I didn't expect someone like him from the Zelda series, but I'm extremely happy to see that expectation quashed. :D
@@dannemannen18: Same problem guardians have in Breath. I think Nintendo underestimates how good people will get at parrying mechanics. It's even worse in SS though because it's so forg-- well it's straight-up easy honestly. “At least the fight is relatively quick” and there I was throwing bombs for what felt like at least half an hour, not realizing it had to eat them to take any damage
Lmao same Scaldera gave me a hard time Whenever it was walking up I kept getting blowed up by the explosions of the bombs thanks to it’s fiery legs I died like 3 times It sounds really pathetic I know I even took the guardian potion for this boss and that helped me a lot.
@@notsocooldude7720 but they are... scaldera was bad, tentalus was bad, imprisoned was annoying, bilocyte was bad, Demise was easy and forgetable for final boss, they even recycled Ghirahim 2 times. They are embarassing compared to the other bosses in the franchise.
"After enough damage has been done, Koloktos literally steps it up." My new favorite Zeltik quote. I'm honestly biased towards Ghirahim at number one because he's such a fun and awesome villain that I both hate for his actions in-game and love for his personality, design, and fights. Can't wait to fight him in HD and turn the fabulousness up to 11!
I might get a lot of hate for this. But I personally enjoyed Skyward Sword more than BOTW. I preferred the storyline and the fact it had superb fully fleshed out dungeons with incredible boss fights. That’s what Zelda is all about IMO
SS was my first Zelda game, BotW my second one. In the last few years I've played other games (OoT, MM, ALBW, LA), but playing SSHD just reminded me that this will be my favorite Zelda forever. Looking forward to playing TP and TWW in the future.
@UCRAywIRufxkAs72ObyPIJHw while I agree, simply pointing out flaws in a game doesn’t make you a hater, if anything it makes you a true fan, cause rather than blindly praising it, claiming it’s perfect, you understand it has flaws, and while you wish for those flaws to be removed in future titles you still love the game, that’s what being a fan is to me at least
No hate at all because to be completely honest Breath of the Wild is a very large empty game, where the dungeons are 4 big ones whereas the shrines are optional mini ones that are repetitive. The story is good at best. But honestly yes the game was new and enjoyable the first time around but honestly compared to any of the other zelda games, you can see why open world doesn't quite fit this series well.
@@AC_Philosopher what are you talking about, the games have always been open world, heck the very first Zelda was open world (sure not a modern one but by definition it was one) Wind Waker is an open world with its vast ocean you can explore, Twilight Princess has an entire open world, even Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask is open world, heck the game boy games where open world, the only non open world Zelda game is Skyward Sword. You can hate BOTW, but to say it sucked because it was open world and that genre doesn’t fit the series makes you woefully ignorant. By that logic every Zelda game sucks other than Skyward Sword
for the record, it is possible to deal the finishing blow to Demise in the first cycle, but it takes perfect timing. In the same way, if you wait too long, he will evade the second attempt and get progressively slower each time he is knocked down.
Personally, I put Demise above Koloktos. As much as Koloktos is pretty much the Platonic ideal of a mid-game Zelda boss, the imagery and symbolism of the duel with Demise really push it over the top. It's literally a primeval battle of the gods, the origin myth for the entire rest of the series, and quite fittingly, the fight itself looks and feels like the kind of thing a primitive tribe might imagine to explain the chaotic power of a raging thunderstorm.
Scaldera in his lava-ball form looks like Mike from Monsters Inc and Tentalus looks like his girlfriend Celia lmao I genuinely wonder if one of the art directors took inspiration from the movie
I love how the first two worst ones are actually legit the worst. But more so they are a fiery Mike Wazowski, and what seems like his very overweight now ex girlfriend who storms the seas.
@@keris3920 Nah, Sulley's too nice. I DO believe the bit about Randall, though. Maybe he's the first Cursed Lizalfos you encounter in the Fire Sanctuary.
Kolocktos is by far one of my best memories when I first played this game. Genius design. Your list is pretty spot on. If they would add dungeon and boss fights like these into BOTW…..it would easily become the greatest Zelda game ever. High hope for that to happen in the sequel
I always thought Scaldera was super cool looking and a fun fight. He looks straight out of a Ghibli film for me. I'm surprised you ranked him lower than Tentalus. Personally he'd be in the top half for me.
I guess that's the problem. When one thinks about Zelda bosses, one would not think about ghibli monsters. Usually the bosses are more grim looking and much more creative from a design point. Off course there are some bosses who fall flat on their asses (like tentalus aka "the Monsters Inc. lady" or that amorphous blob from OOT in the water temple) but still, a firey ball isn't what I would call a memorable boss. Even the boss fight is extremely easy and that only helps making the boss forgettable.
I personally don't think his design is bad, he just feels like a mid dungeon boss. He also doesn't look overly threatening for a dungeon boss. I think that was a big turn off for me for skyward sword is that it's trying to be cartoonie but handles darker more "realistic" moments so much better than it does the goofy. It creates a polarizing feeling of not understanding the tone they were going for. especially when we already had windwaker that handles it better as it keeps it's tone consistent, keeping a fun and silly surface with some dark undertones.
@@Gaster601 "When one thinks about Zelda bosses, one would not think about ghibli monsters" - I wouldn't necessarily say that. Studio Ghibli has been incredibly influential towards zelda, especially Breath of the Wild (which is a love letter to Princess Mononoke). The two styles work very well together.
I find it interesting that Demise uses lightning the same way that Link uses the energy of the goddess/master sword. It gives the lightning you see from Breath of the Wild’s Calamity Ganon more significance, and also makes sense that the golden enemies from BotW say they gained this new form after being struck by lightning. They’re clearly connecting the two ideas.
zeltik: the imprisoned can fly but it's not a boss fight it's a chore at that point me: (laughs) oh boy here we go again we gonna pluck a potato outta the skies and make it go splat
Strangely enough, despite how anti-climactic Tentalus is after that entire dungeon, it's one of my favourites. The game very simply teaches you how to defeat the tentacles, provides what feels like a high-pressure situation of fleeing the sinking ship, before you finally get out on the deck and have to use what you've learned to defeat it. it may not be particularly challenging for a boss(hence why I always choose it first during the boss rush) but it does a great job of introducing the mechanic and then letting you have at it. It could do with looking or feeling scarier after that run through the ship, but overall, I like Tentalus a lot.
I respect that; it's honestly a good fight when you can look past the lackluster design, it's just very difficult for most people (myself included) to do so
@@lukehahm9147 I think they intentionally tried to make the bosses less scary to try and get a less mature rating. Because honestly it's like night and day when you look at Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword side by side.
@@goblez5900 If that’s the case, it’d kinds be the first time they’ve cared. Zelda’s designs have always been macabre for monsters and saucy for female characters (Veran, Great Fairies. Which the fairies still tick me off but whatever.) I also don’t recall any sort of criticism for TP being “creepy”-and if anything, Zelda being tortured and crying out in pain is by far more disturbing than fighting poes and demons on TP (or the infamous cutscene with falling laughing Ilia which is more trippy than anything.)
@@anonymousfellow8879 There are a lot of People who consider TP enemy designs to be too dark/edgy, it's a common criticism. Some people prefer more cartoonish enemies.
I feel like a lot of great ideas were unfortunately ruined because Nintendo didn't _want_ to take them seriously. In their lingering desire to market the Wii to everyone while sales were beginning to decline, they were skeptical of making anything too unsettling, and felt the need to balance anything frightening with something goofy... Or at least that's my theory. Maybe some people preferred that, but the more dedicated Zelda fans mostly end up feeling let down by how epic the fight could have been. I just wonder what Tentalus or the Imprisoned would look like if they were designed during the development of Twilight Princess, when Nintendo aired on the side of taking it more seriously. I suppose it just shows how TP and SW represent two different sides of the Zelda series despite their similarities.
I still find it hilarious (and infuriating) that they tried to market the Wii to everyone, yet when making this game, they did nothing to make the game fair to play for left-handed players; instead only making the game with right-handed players in mind, despite Link himself being left-handed in almost every game. The Switch version not bothering to add a left-handed mode for the motion controls, however, isn't funny at all; just infuriating.
@@matthewmuir8884 are Link's strikes off-center to the right or something, because I feel like you could have just swapped the wiimote and nunchuck for the original game. I didnt play the original game tho, and only played with button controls for the HD. I'm left handed too, but I hold the wiimote in my right hand by default, probably a combination of other systems controllers and my moms computer mouse being on the right side making me used to pressing buttons with my right finger, so I don't think it would have affected me much.
@@lazyryan3766 In the original game, you could theoretically play it with the wii remote in the left hand and the nunchuck in the right hand. However, I have heard from multiple people that there is an increase in calibration issues if the game is played that way. Not to mention, Link is still using the sword in his right hand, and since the only feedback motion controls can provide is visual feedback, it can really make the game awkward and uncomfortable.
TBH I never found TP that creepy. It's dark sure, in terms of colour pallet, and there are some relatively bleak scenes like the resistance and so on, but with a couple of minor exceptions, there was nothing that really got the heart going. For me, the scariness peaked with OOT. MM was creepy and disturbing at times, but more in the "OMG this is awesome" way, rather than the "OMG I can't bare to look in the next room" way. Part of that might be the age I played OOT, but most of it, I feel, is that creepiness/scares are about the way you deliver the scare as much as the design itself.
I actually like the Imprisoned fight, it's not as if fighting it 3 times has no justifcation, it's an imminent threat constantly breaking free of it's ever weakening seal, it wouldn't feel as urgent and wouldn't have such high stakes if you only fought it once. Also the Imprisoned himself might be slow, but if anything his fights end up being some of the fastest in the game since you just have to hit his spike 3 times instead of whittling down an invisible health bar.
Definitely had Levias fight higher. I loved using my Loftwing to fight, underused I think. Totally agree with your top 3 three, the Demise fight is one of the most memorable fights in Zelda
Moldarach was ruined by being a Mini boss later on. It was pretty cool on its own, but being a Mini boss later made its nature as a boss feel redundant.
Health is the _only_ reason he is initially considered a boss at all. Later you're more powerful so it basically trivializes it by default. The boss was a freebie after the long mining facility.
Yeah to put Moldarach above Tentalus and Levias is a bit of a miss for me on this list. shit on tentalus for its design all you want, at least it had something to its fight... Moldarach is just a big black scorpion, and fighting it is like fighting two of this game's deku baba attached to a skulltula, minus the things that make skulltulas a threat... it's actually pathetic.
to be fair, it is nothing new to the series. It is easy to forget that the staple enemies like darknuts often serve as minibosses long before they become abundant, high tier enemies one rank below miniboss. Heck, WW has moblins as a "boss" due to their appearance in dragon roost cavern, but by the time the master sword is in play, they become the second most dangerous reoccurring enemy, just behind darknuts who also act as the miniboss of the tower of gods. Then look at minish cap's approach to bosses. Every single boss in a dungeon you have to enter in minish form is just a regular enemy that needs to be fought in a new way with the shrinkage of link and his sword.
@@Jack_MxM really gonna nitpick? yes, the mines is an exception, but you could argue that the "familiarity" element remains when considering other dragon-esque bosses that are fought in similar ways in other zelda games. WW ghoma is very similar in execution: aim for center of area that doubles as boss weak point, then with boss stunned use the new boss state to go crazy with sword. Then LBW and LttP has a genbu (turtle mixed with snake) that almost looks the same. Either way, my point was thatMolarach is nothing new in terms of reoccurring boss within it own game. Minish cap was pointing out an alternate approach that resulted in the same way.
It's cool to learn the Ghirahim & Imprisoned fights can be done in different ways. I always just hacked away at the toes until it fell and didn't know you could just jump on top of him. On the final stage of Ghirahim, you can stun him by swatting his sword three times to the left making him "drop" it and then attack. And against his big sword I kept having a hard time doing "enough damage quickly" until I realized you can strike it slowly in the proper direction (there's literally an arrow highlighting where to strike) and be more effective.
Personally, Moldarach is my all time favorite LoZ boss. I can't properly explain why. It just clicked with me the moment i started to figjt it. I genuinely got excited that i got to fight it a second time later one.
I found Tentalus kinda cute as a boss. Been calling him "Mr. Tentacles" since the Wii version and while I didn't care too much for the boss fight, I still liked the boss
The amount of restraint from Zeltik to not draw any comparisons to Breath of the Wild to sell the game to his very Zelda fans is astonishing (though tbf it's probably written in bold with huge letters in the clause of the sponsorship: DONT MENTION BOTW LOL) Either way, for anyone that's desperately waiting for BotW2, you're doing yourself a disservice by not playing Genshin Impact. Teyvat has the same vibe as Hyrule in being littered with useless, repetitive little rewards and puzzles that somehow still grab your attention and make you go off the beaten path for them, as well as being a massive region filled with lore and strange stuff that leaves you thinking "wtf happened here" That said, it's more story driven, so there will be some areas that are locked behind certain amount of progress, but you can explore SO MUCH after the first few intro cutscenes that it's likely not going to bother you at all.
Skyward Sword is definetly a mixed bag when it comes to bosses. Pretty much all of them have fantastic concepts but the execution leaves a lot to be desired, and for me both Moldarach and especially Tentalus show that more than anyone.
Exactly. i enjoyed every dungeon in this game a lot, but when it comes to bosses the only ones that i really enjoyed were ghirahim 1 and 2, tentalus, and koloktos
If you want to charge up the Skyward strike while fighting Demise you have to wait for his 3 stages of attacks. You will know its the last attack when he swings downward. After the last attack he will let out his lightning. Then from there you step away from him and quickly raise your sword. He will charge at you but you should have enough time to let out the lightning strike before he hits you. It just makes the fight faster.
It is kind of funny that you mentioned Skaldera as a forgettable boss. By the time I did the Boss Rush to get the Hylian Shield, I had actually forgotten Skaldera was a thing until I fought them in the Boss Rush. Like you said, it isn't bad. I kinda liked it, but completely forgot about it later.
Just finished playing through it, Koloktos was just as exciting as I remembered, especially when I got it as the 8th boss in Lanayru's challenge. The demise moment was also just as epic as I remembered, it was such a great nostalgia trip
I love how Ghirahim’s boss fights literally teach you all the skills you need on your journey. They happen at pretty consistent intervals, becoming more and more challenging while simultaneously marking your progress.
Yes. He's a great antagonist because every time he shows up you go, "YOU again!" and each time you get to re-fight him it's a real grudge match on both sides.
Here’s a tip while fighting the imprisoned, you don’t rlly need to destroy its “fingers”, you can go on the top of his head , and you can deal dmg there
Personally I found Demise to be nowhere near as difficult as the Girahim fights, although I did play with motion controls so that may be why I struggled more
I loved the idea of the Levias boss fight, and thought the loftwing mechanics should have been used in the final fight against Demise, similar to how Ganondorf is usually fought in a horseback stage.
I think the chore feeling of the imprisoned was on purpose. In the story, it’s only somewhat threatening to link, and he has to return and beat its face in to keep it from becoming powerful. It’s a chore for link too, but a necessary one.
The thing I liked about fighting the imprisoned three times was the fear it created in me. I didn't want to go to the Sealed Grounds because of the risk of potentially fighting the Imprisoned again. The fear also really made the final fight even more satisfying, knowing that, that terrible beast is now gone for good. Well, this only applied on the first playthrough, and the rest it's just annoying.
Personally, my fave boss fights are Ghirahim's, since he's my fave character in the game, but the order might not seem usual. You'd assume the least favorite is the 1st, then the 2nd, then the best being the 3rd. My order is actually 1 being the fave, 3 being the 2nd and 2 being the least favorite. The 1st fight is my favorite because when I first played it, I was freaked out and his personality was both awesome, but unsettling enough to make me run away from him for most of the fight, so it really made the character stick in my mind for the rest of the game. The 3rd is my next favorite because I finally got to see his final form (aside from his form where he's just a blade, but a form that can actually move and talk) and it provided a really cool fight on top of that, but his personality wasn't as freaky to me as it was before. His 2nd fight is my least favorite of his fights, but my 3rd favorite in the game over all because 2 blades. That's it. 2 blades at once, showing that he can use both hands equally in a fight, so it shows that if he lost a hand or arm for whatever reason, he'd still be a really good fighter compared to someone who can't really work well with their non dominant hand. Which kinda made me relate to him a bit because while my left hand is considered my dominant hand, I prefer to use my right hand for the physical things such as throwing balls while my left is mainly used for writing and drawing, but can still be used for more physical activities pretty well if my right arm gets tired. So, unfortunately, the battle with demise isn't in my top 3, but at least he's my 4th. Ghirahim makes *all* of my top 3 because of how his character stuck with me, so I just enjoyed getting to see him on screen at all, so when I fought him, he stayed on the screen longer on top of giving a good fight.
Demise's boss fight reminds me of the first darknut fight in twilight princess, the way that it finally feels like a fair fight, swords clashing and powers matched, you have to outsmart your opponent. Hopefully we get darknuts in BotW 2.
This game has some of the coolest boss fights I've ever seen in the series, I'm so glad you agree. Also, I loved the comparison you made about Koloktos and the BOTW guardians, I never thought about that! Love your videos man!
Zeltik, did you know that when you first go to Faron Woods, you start at the sealed grounds. The imprisoned stone relic has markings around the bottom of the sealed grounds. One of which, looked just like the picture of ganon.
My favorite Zelda boss is the first boss of occ in the deku tree because it’s the beginning of something great it shows that no matter how small something is is can do great things
Absolutely love the countdown as usual but I gotta say the highlight of this for me is finding out that you play Genshin Impact ! that's so exciting, i'm so used to zelda fans dismissing it as a 'clone' without properly looking into it. which is a shame, because it truly is candyland for people (like myself) who loved the open-world, exploration aspect of botw so much. are there any chances you might make some videos about the game in the future ? 👀
Just replaying this game now after BotW, you can see SOOOO so many of the ideas starting from SS and built upon for BotW. I cannot wait to see what BotW 2 has in store for us. And I just hope and pray that Twilight Princess does come as a port/remaster at some point.
I really liked the epic feel of the bilocyte boss. Personally would have ranked it higher. The sword duel against Demise is also epic, and the cistern is excellent. They are still higher. But flying after a whale in a thunderstorm seems like perfect Skyward Sword action to me.
No love for the bokoblin horde? To be honest, that might have been my favorite boss fight. It really puts things into perspective just how powerful Link becomes throughout the game. Can you imagine trying to do that fight at the beginning of the game with the unupgraded sword?
I thought you would include the bokoblin horde as well seeing as it also appears in the Lightning Round. Also, I love how it's generally accepted that the best Skyward Sword fights are the fights that are primarily sword fights. Especially since so many people complained about the wii motion controls back in the day. Like, you must be doing something right when even the people who hate tye controls enjoy the fights that make the best use of them.
On the first few playthroughs the demise fight is incredibly hard but if your skilled at shield and you find out you can use lightning it gets super easy and really fast. Also I love that if you hold up your sword when he does you'll get the lightning instead of him.
Spoiler for Skyward sword: At the end of the game, Fi says "the remaining conscious of Demise has been sealed in the Masters Sword" Maybe that's why ganon's malice targeted the Masters Sword in the 2nd trailer of botw2, since in botw, its already confirmed that Fi still resides in the master sword
Koloktos might just be my favourite Zelda boss of all time! Every time I mention that fight to people they never know which one I'm talking about. Also, I remember re-playing the boss fight a couple times on purpose just because I had so much fun with it!
21:41 Something just occurred to me. How is Koloktos supposed to defend the Ancient Cistern if he's secluded in an admittedly beautiful room? I don't exactly see him forcing himself through that tiny door, let alone the ones inside the actual statue.
@Zeltik: To be fair the Impressioned fight also offers an alternative way to take him down. It's kind of cool that depending the flow of the fight the player can change the way he approches the spike.
I would even say that Koloktos is the best boss in the entire series. It's too damn satisfying to whip off his arms and beat the crap of him with it's own sword and doing that with motion controls. 👌👌👌
The Imprisoned isn't better, just different and worse. Its a nuicence no one likes. Tentalus at least has great buildup and atmosphere going for it even if it's a silly looking boss.
@@ShadowSkyX I do have another reason to hate the imprisoned now. I was doing the boss rush for the hylian shield and got the third fight of him. i had trouble catching up to him and knocked him down right underneath the temple. he still had a full spiral to go, but because it flies, it goes into a cutscene. while moving. I got a game over instantly when the cutscene ended because it got to move before the game let me react.
I think the guardians might have a Koloctus reference. Every time you kill a guardian, you can hear a quiet laugh as they explode, which is similar to the laughter you hear when Koloctus is defeated.
Something I love about each Skyward Sword Boss Battle I’ve done: Ghirahim 1: Perfect starting boss, if only incredibly difficult for most people the first time. The sword-stealing ability was a nice, new ability that totally threw new players off. It was pretty hard to avoid often, especially on Wii. Scaldera: Basically King Dodongo but ROCK. What sets the two apart though is that with King Dodongo, he swallows a mob and then you just slash, but you have to actually aim your strikes at Scaldera whilst trying to not get burned. Moldarach: Blasting away the floor to find him is good, but I really loved the defensive mechanisms of his weak spots the most. Between closing the pincers, changing their position and just snapping at you or hiding before you can get a hit in is fun. Koloktos: Honestly, ny favourite battle. The fact that your own sword is TOO WEAK to fight this colossal golem is amazing, and you have to rip off his limbs and use his own weapons against him is just incredible. Ghirahim 2: Not that different to 1, only he can now grab your sword with either hand. What I love most is that you can’t just hack and slash anymore since his extremities are now invincible. Makes you focus a lot more on the fight. Tantalus: He was…pretty underwhelming. That’s not really an interesting or unique thing I like about him, he’s just sort of this big monster that you chop limbs off. I guess the tentacles through the floor was pretty good. Imprisoned 1: A nice shock to the system, having to fight this huge kaiju-esque monster that emits shockwaves with each step and slithers like a nightmare when you knock it down. Pretty easy, but a nice combat system. Imprisoned 2: Basically Imprisoned 1 but with ARMS. This f*cker can now climb the fricking walls. Best part of this battle is Groose. It relies a lot on coordination between Link and Groose to defeat it, and I love the switching mechanics.
I always saw it as, Skyward Sword had awesome dungeons that made me enjoy progressing through each one, meanwhile Twilight Princess had amazing boss fights whereas the dungeons were good but not great.
Tentalus is such a disappointment, that I've come up with a replacement boss in my head after fighting it again. No name for it yet, but its essentially going to be the Evil Eagle situation from Link's Awakening. Have Scervo come back at the end of the dungeon, piloting a mech shaped like one of the ancient robots Link's been helping. What's unique about this boss idea, is that the boss itself is coated in timeshift stones. It's been stated that timeshift stones are used as a power source, so this can work. You could then have this battle of wits where you constantly activate and deactivate timeshift stones to prevent and deflect the boss' attacks, with the ultimate goal being to detach and deactivate a large, central core timeshift stone, to ultimately turn the entire mech ancient and inoperable.
I played the game on its release on Wii. I found the Demise fight a little bit underwhelming because I was expecting an epic showdown like the one against Ganondorf on Twilight Princess. That fight had 4 stages, and one was while riding on Epona, another as Wolf Link, it really couldn't get any more epic than that.
I know this video is over a year old. However, I just finished Skyward Sword for the first time. My favorite part of the game is that Link has Fi, the spirit that lives in Link's sword. Demise, has Ghirahim, the Demon Lord that becomes Demise's sword. I love how Link's and Demise's quests are mirrored in time. Edit: I know the video says the same thing, basically. But it's still freaking cool
I actually love Scaldera because of the build up to the fight. The room before the boss has large slopes with tripwire bolder cascades you have to avoid. Then the boss key itself is trapped with a huge bolder you have to sprint to avoid. That same bolder ends up freeing the path forward by stopping up the lava flow, and it moves forward ahead of you to be the final boss. I just find it so cool.
The music in each battle is incredibly climactic, particularly Scaldera, Koloktos, and Demise. They really did great with the orchestral pieces for this game. It’s one of my favourite LoZ since it acted as the most current precursor to the legend as a whole.
I’m really, REALLY enjoying SS HD. It’s so much fun, why people didn’t like it I don’t know. Having button controls helps out tremendously. Why this wasn’t implemented in the original I don’t know.
It was to push the Wii controls and it was for the most part built around that. Also the second stick on the switch is why they can do a button only control.
I agree with most of it but I'd switch the top 2.The only thing I dislike about the fight with Demise is that it's over too soon! When I delivered that final blow for the first time, it felt so epic unlike anything I've ever done in any game of the series! Twilight Princess' Ganon came close but that spin catching lightning just made it so awesome! And then there's the music topping it off!

Since he sees Link (you) as a mir weak mortal.

What if Demise is actually link?! If the timeline is actually a massive loop, and we consider the painting in breath of the wild?
The analog use for swing direction. Lol makes it so much better too, imo. Gihirahim is so fun to fight with the stick, especially the second round.

Trust me.
This is going to save me so much time. Thank you so much.
how do people not now about this method? I figured it out on my first fight after getting frustrated at the shockwaves by his feet
EDIT: you can also catch the updraft from the sealing spike's hole to skydive onto him, way easier than using the groosenator to launch yourself
Holy crap I hate those shockwaves! Going to do this when I reach him. Still doing the Wii thing over here lol.
It doesnt work on the 3rd fight tho unless hes stunned
I gave this one a shot and it definitely made it quicker and honestly a bit more tense. After all he'll rocket himself further up each time you get that strike in and with the faster pace it all happens in a hurry. The toe option is there, but definitely isn't the only way to tackle this guy. Definitely helps the fight avoid feeling too dragged out.
Fun Fact: Koloktos's child laugh is also in Splatoon. At night on the Museum D'Alfonsino map, there are two statues that can be heard laughing on opposite ends of the map.
*pardun* ?
I still feel Tentalus is a Monsters Inc. reject. Celia's lost cousin or something. One thing I'm not a fan of in Zelda's boss design is "massive colorful eyeball". It's almost ridiculous at this point, especially how they felt the need to retrofit giant balloon eyes on Majora's Masks bosses for the "remake". Thank god the Ganon Blights do have eyeball weakpoint, but it's tiny.
With that said, I don't have an issue with monsters that ARE an eyeball. Like Vaati or something.
I think the issue is that he's kinda... cute? Which, ahem, no.
Don't forget, Scaldera is also Mike Wazowski's brother.
Vaati is a zelda version of a Beholder basically! Really cool design though
That Majora'a Mask 3D thing threw me tf off.
That’s why the top three of this vid are good since they DON’T have an eyeball

It has dungeons that are way easier than I remember and a lot of open space with only 1 of 2 enemies. It’s a good game but can’t be better the botw

Originally I found Scaldera pretty forgettable, but I actually really enjoyed the fight on the Switch.
What tentalus lacks in design? It makes up for in honestly top tier build up to the fight and a more challenging fight than Scal.
They’re clearly connecting the two ideas.
zeltik: the imprisoned can fly but it's not a boss fight it's a chore at that point
me: (laughs) oh boy here we go again we gonna pluck a potato outta the skies and make it go splat
I respect that; it's honestly a good fight when you can look past the lackluster design, it's just very difficult for most people (myself included) to do so
It's not a bad boss at all mechanically but the design is goofy
Yeah it's purely cosmetic. Replace it with some Lovecraftian kraken looking thing and it'd be upper tier, and maybe on some all-time lists

Good grief, tentalus in tp would have been AWFUL, I would have been terrified XD.

@@cullenlatham2366 What about the Crenal Mines boss?
Ayo that’s a big sponsor. Let’s go Zeltik
The amount of restraint from Zeltik to not draw any comparisons to Breath of the Wild to sell the game to his very Zelda fans is astonishing (though tbf it's probably written in bold with huge letters in the clause of the sponsorship: DONT MENTION BOTW LOL)
Either way, for anyone that's desperately waiting for BotW2, you're doing yourself a disservice by not playing Genshin Impact. Teyvat has the same vibe as Hyrule in being littered with useless, repetitive little rewards and puzzles that somehow still grab your attention and make you go off the beaten path for them, as well as being a massive region filled with lore and strange stuff that leaves you thinking "wtf happened here"
That said, it's more story driven, so there will be some areas that are locked behind certain amount of progress, but you can explore SO MUCH after the first few intro cutscenes that it's likely not going to bother you at all.

Skyward Sword is definetly a mixed bag when it comes to bosses. Pretty much all of them have fantastic concepts but the execution leaves a lot to be desired, and for me both Moldarach and especially Tentalus show that more than anyone.
You should do a Zelda side characters tier list! I’d be so curious to know who was top tier. Tingle? Groose? Urbosa? Happy mask salesman?
It’s gotta be the powerful Groose
For how brilliant most of the dungeons are the boss fights are actually quite lacklustre.
Exactly. i enjoyed every dungeon in this game a lot, but when it comes to bosses the only ones that i really enjoyed were ghirahim 1 and 2, tentalus, and koloktos
The sound, font and use of roman numbers for the countdown made it pretty unique and enjoyable, solid vid :D
It’s funny when Zeltik was talking about Genshin, saying how much he liked the LOOK of the game, but never up right said he liked it 😂
It is a good game, it has a ton of passion in it
It is kind of funny that you mentioned Skaldera as a forgettable boss.
Yes. He's a great antagonist because every time he shows up you go, "YOU again!" and each time you get to re-fight him it's a real grudge match on both sides.
he's honestly one of my favorite zelda villains.
Here’s a tip while fighting the imprisoned, you don’t rlly need to destroy its “fingers”, you can go on the top of his head , and you can deal dmg there
He will knock you off on the second and third phase
@@NormalGuy985 still works if ur fast enough
Personally I found Demise to be nowhere near as difficult as the Girahim fights, although I did play with motion controls so that may be why I struggled more
Didnt everyone play it with motion controls? XD well before the switch release that is
@@jasonlobo2350 nope never have once u went for a wiseass sarcastic comment and failed
Demise, Ghirahim, and Koloktus are some of my favorite Zelda bosses ever! They are super cool
I agree with the entire list except that I would put dimise over Kloktos.
Me 2
Absolutely love the countdown as usual but I gotta say the highlight of this for me is finding out that you play Genshin Impact ! that's so exciting, i'm so used to zelda fans dismissing it as a 'clone' without properly looking into it. which is a shame, because it truly is candyland for people (like myself) who loved the open-world, exploration aspect of botw so much. are there any chances you might make some videos about the game in the future ? 👀
The Imprisoned isn't even fun to fight in Hyrule Warriors, a fast paced game where it's still ungodly tedious to kill. .
Very true, I hate fighting The Imprisoned in side missions
Why are you attacking the toes? That's a massive waste of time. I wished I hadn't bothered when I initially played skyward sword
@@ShadowSkyX The OP said *Hyrule Warriors*. Different game.
Personally, I like fighting the Abomination just to have Link seal him again. It's so cool when he does it but I agree with the list, well done!
I think Koloktos also had the best design out of all the bosses (with perhaps the exception of Demise).
On the first few playthroughs the demise fight is incredibly hard but if your skilled at shield and you find out you can use lightning it gets super easy and really fast. Also I love that if you hold up your sword when he does you'll get the lightning instead of him.
Spoiler for Skyward sword:
At the end of the game, Fi says "the remaining conscious of Demise has been sealed in the Masters Sword"
Maybe that's why ganon's malice targeted the Masters Sword in the 2nd trailer of botw2, since in botw, its already confirmed that Fi still resides in the master sword
In which part of the game they told you Fi is still there?
@@alejandrozelaya4699 you can hear fi's sounds from the master sword in a few cutscenes
Koloktos might just be my favourite Zelda boss of all time! Every time I mention that fight to people they never know which one I'm talking about. Also, I remember re-playing the boss fight a couple times on purpose just because I had so much fun with it!
I DIDNT KNOW YOU COULD JUMP ON TOP OF THE IMPRISONED IN THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS
I don't think you can in the first because you need the groose cannon to stun him.
@@fungi265 nope, you can. Just use the updraft in the center.
21:41 Something just occurred to me. How is Koloktos supposed to defend the Ancient Cistern if he's secluded in an admittedly beautiful room? I don't exactly see him forcing himself through that tiny door, let alone the ones inside the actual statue.
Thanks for all the Skyward Sword content! Just what I needed after beating the game (for the 7th time)!
The first time I faced koloktos was such an incredible fight, I loved it.
My ranking:
Tentalus: last
Everything else: Better
I agree with you, the first time a saw the tentacul destroying the ship i was like ( This boss is gonna be SICK!!! )
Sadly....🤮
The Imprisoned isn't better, just different and worse. Its a nuicence no one likes. Tentalus at least has great buildup and atmosphere going for it even if it's a silly looking boss.
@@ShadowSkyX I do have another reason to hate the imprisoned now. I was doing the boss rush for the hylian shield and got the third fight of him. i had trouble catching up to him and knocked him down right underneath the temple. he still had a full spiral to go, but because it flies, it goes into a cutscene. while moving. I got a game over instantly when the cutscene ended because it got to move before the game let me react.
Ouch
Pretty much.
I think the guardians might have a Koloctus reference. Every time you kill a guardian, you can hear a quiet laugh as they explode, which is similar to the laughter you hear when Koloctus is defeated.
I personally like to call demise's sword the disaster sword
9:12 I admit, I've never understood why Bilocyte wasn't a boss in the Thunder Dragon's Lightning Round.
If you think the Imprisoned in this game is bad, try it on Hyrule Warriors.
He is so annoying in hyrule warriors
Something I love about each Skyward Sword Boss Battle I’ve done:
Ghirahim 1: Perfect starting boss, if only incredibly difficult for most people the first time.
I love that Indiana Jones Homage with Scaldera though.
I don’t know how you do it, but every sentence you speak sounds like poetry. I love the way you go about describing things and setting the scene
The irony that the video is sponsored by genshin is just mind blowing XD
I played the game on its release on Wii. I found the Demise fight a little bit underwhelming because I was expecting an epic showdown like the one against Ganondorf on Twilight Princess. That fight had 4 stages, and one was while riding on Epona, another as Wolf Link, it really couldn't get any more epic than that.
Video starts at 1:30
I know this video is over a year old.
I dislike bosses that makes it’s weakness too obvious. There is no trial and error or realizing what item you use.
If Ghirahim isn’t near the top, I will be sad ;-;
Me too.
I found him just too difficult.
Congratulations! He's in the Top 3!
He really should be right at the bottom though. He is a terrible boss.
@@thomasplummer8103, that’s unfortunate, I love him a lot.
Koloktos fight is epic and the music is incredible
Few things are as satisfying as taking a giant robots sword twice as big as you and taking it apart with it.
You're not that biased about Tentalus, I'd put that sh... thing last place just because the design and the disappointment
