This is a problem on a lot of psu models and powers using this cwt board called puq. I have two of these puq series, a corsair gs700 and a cx750. Gs700 has a lot of coil whine, bad capacitors, and coil gets over 60c with minimal load. Not burned yet but wire has started to get darker. The cx750 has burnt 5v stb pwm and mosfet, some arcing, burning on the back between primary +-400v over pwm controller. They are low quality units. Probably coil and wire too small for 700-800w, as everything except 5v stb goes through that coil, including 5v, 3.3v with dc to dc converters.
I've always been told to NEVER touch the inside of a PSU that hasn't been discharged, very confused at what this guys doing touching coils when its turned on...
Yeah, you are right. Never touch PCB with bare hands with unknown state of capacitors. While editing the video I've accidentally cut off the part in video where discharged the 450V capacitor with a bulb. GJ noticing!
nice video, btw does the coil stay cold under load?(like if u use ur cpu 100% and use graphic card), i have the same problem(burned coil), and i searched online and some articles said that a burned coil is caused by overload, or maybe bad capacitors, i am interested to know if the PSU still works properly :)
Just tested with testbench (i3-4160, GT740) on full load (gpu and cpu 100%). Power draw was only 140W. Ran for 10min and coil was 38C, could feel slight warmth with finger. Sorry, but im unable to load more and give you answer about the coil with full load.
@@MartinRepairs ty for the reply, i also asked an expert on psu repairs, he said that a burned coil is an indication of a shorted circuit or overload, and its turns out the psi is a fake 500w and its only 350w,that'swhy the coil got burned :)
Greetings friend, Martin , my house was flooded, and the pc was on the floor, then I dried the same power supply that you have in the video, the cx750, the fact is that after having dried it correctly, the power supply does not turn on and clean a noise when bridging it, what do you think it could be?
@@MartinRepairs I mean to clean the water, but then when I try to turn on the ps, it doesn't turn on, it makes a high-pitched noise, but it doesn't turn on, do you understand?
@@VainasDominicanas809 In my experience, capacitors, coils and chips can make whistling noise. First guess would be bad capacitor or capacitor whistling cause of over-voltage. If over-voltage, cap can blow its lid off. Probably somewhere a short... If any help, have video of CX850M PSU with diode reading and voltage reading when PSU is on and off. Hello, I also removed the cx750 m for control purposes, and there is leakage in the small capacitors on the small card on the side. and one side of the small bandage next to it has blacked out and the part you replaced has blacked out. But it continues to work, what should I do, should I replace it, thank you.

same issue here with a CX750m... the cables have started to melt!!
Very nice!
What is the value of the coil, where can I find a similar Kalem?

I got exactly the same fault for the same Psu. Same thing this Item cannot be bought from China...I have to find a same psu for the same component....

Dont quite understand what "clean a noise when bridging it" means.
Do you mean shorting PS-on to ground makes whistling noise?

@@MartinRepairs Thanks brother.
where can i bay this coil greetings Cor from the netherlands
From donor PSU.
