It’s great that you did these two together, I think it helps explain the storyline, and you’re definitely on the right track!
A lot of the details are very up for interpretation, and i don’t think I’ve seen anyone who gets everything on the first try! Their MVs are always so rich in detail and symbolism and it’s great, but the storylines are hard, especially since the scenes aren’t always in order! But in general, here’s what I think is going on:
Fly High is a prequel that shows how the girls became nightmares, but there’s actually a dual cause. First is the Spider Queen. Spiders in mythology are the ones who weave Dreamcatcher’s and protect dreams, and when Yoohyeon killed the spider that JiU caught, the Spider Queen stopped protecting them. BUT it wasn’t the real Yoohyeon who killed the spider-it was her nightmare half. That book we see the two girls in the woods with (Sua and Siyeon) is the same one from the first two MVs and contains the girls’ nightmares. At some point Sua and Siyeon must have come across it in the woods, and it turned them dark. They couldn’t bring the book into the mansion until it stopped being protected, but when Yoohyeon tried to run away she left the safety of the grounds and they were able to turn her dark and send her back to kill the spider. Then they got to the rest of the girls, the last being Jiu, who actually encounters her dark doppelgänger and realizes what’s going on. But before it gets her, she’s able to seal the mansion’s gates and trap them all there. There’s also some clues that point to the girls already being witches before getting the nightmare spell book, which explains how she could trap them. And they’re trapped there for a long time, long enough that the mansion was converted to a hotel and subsequently abandoned, as we see in Chase Me and Good Night.
You and I takes place after Good Night with their escape from the hotel. I think the events in Good Night point to them no longer being nightmares, which is how they get free and why they abandon the book in the woods. But they are still witches, and seem to have opened a photography studio, where they can curse/trick/play with people by using their photos. I think that’s also why we see them cutting out their own portrait in Fly High-from the end of Chase Me we know it was hidden-and You and I has the answer of why: because peoples pictures can be used against them. They’re living somewhat peacefully until the old woman comes in for her picture. She’s the Spider Queen, who has returned to get revenge on Yoohyeon. She seems to possess her and force her to have her picture taken, and with that she can curse her once again and trap her in that snowy realm. The other girls are trying to save her with the ritual they do, but as we see, Yoohyeon doesn’t make it to the portal in time.
So what I've gathered from various interpretations of this video, is basically in Fly High, Yoohyeon burns the spider in the jar and accidentally unleashes a curse on the group. (They also have a song called curse of the spider) Jiu stays and locks the gate instead of escaping to try to save the girls. You and I, is basically Jiu performing a ritual trying to free them of the curse, but gets cursed as well. The spider is still torturing them disguised as the old woman taking the picture. Yoohyeon was trying to run to the portal trying to escape back to this world, but fails.
Short summary:
The mansion is cursed. Girls enter. Darkness consumes them and they come under the curse of the nightmare. Yoohyeon, being the one who killed the spider (also a witch) becomes the prime victim and the spider becomes one with her at the end of Y&I.
Members were seen trying to use their nightmare powers to free Yoohyeon and reverse the spirit possession. The girls themselves are not yet freed so they possess dark powers. Not all of their individual abilities have been revealed in the entire arc.
So when it comes to the mvs I will say that no one will be able to get everything from a first watch so don't worry. I personally still discover new things whenever I rewatch the mvs. Also the story is kind of meant to be left for interpretation, the only thing the girls have said about the story is that the girls are meant to be representing nightmares. Regardless it's more fun when you make up your own theory 😌.
Also I will always recommend to watch the mvs on dreamcatcher's UA-cam channel as they always tend to have translations, unless ofc the mv has just been posted and it's too early for captions.

Yes, the general consensus is that Fly High is a prequel and You and I is the sequel. However, most InSomnia decide for themselves how the story really goes. I think initially it might have been hard to tell what the story was but as more MVs were released, people started to put theories together.
Haha! I feel you, it's really difficult to understand it all on a first watch/listen.
My perspective is You&I happens after Goodnight but related more to Fly high.
You can come up with your own perspective, that's the fun part with Nightmare series.

basically what happened so far in the Story: in Fly High the 7 Girls Start off as normal Students in that House, but that changed as JiU decides to take in that Spider and Yoohyeon starts burning it with the magnifying Glass. Dami starts reading out Black Magic Spells and Yoohyeon performs Black Magic on that Mirror in the Garden. All that invites the Doppelgangers of the Girls (like JiU's Doppelganger sees her sitting on the Piano) into their World. So in the End of Fly High those are the evil Doppelgangers who are now in Charge of the House and they Form a Pentagram at the End so nobody can easily leave this Place (like the Witchhunter in Chase Me and Good Night). So in Chase Me that Witchhunter did Research on them and tried to hunt them down, but the good Side of the Girls managed to escape from, End SuA's Nightmare and trapped the Witchhunter in the Mirror World. In You and I, the Woman that visits the Girls is the Spirit of the Spider from Fly High in the Form of a Shapeshifter. The Spider attacks Yoohyeon which posesses her with a Demon in her Body and JiU tries to exorcise it out of Yoohyeon. JiU fails with the Ritual and Yoohyeon is now trapped in a different World and has to find her Way back to the Girls.

In fly high, the girls are young students in a boarding school for girls. On a random, normal day in the school, JiU finds a spider and decides to keep it in a jar as a pet. Yoohyeon distracts JiU for a playtime outside and quickly burns the spider with a magnifying glass. The spider turns out to be a Witch and has cast a spell on the girls, turning them into Nightmares, using Dami, Siyeon, and SuA as primary conduits. Gahyeon gets turned in her sleep while Yoohyeon tries to run away, yet she turns into a nightmare right before she could reach the bounds of the property, and returns to the school. Handong tries to reach outside for help using a paper plane while Siyeon and SuA watches from below. She then tries to commit suicide to escape the curse but fails(that's what the bathtub scene was) and JiU sees a premonition of another version of herself, being a sign of impending doom. She then runs to the school gates and transforms into a nightmare mid-way but with her strong willpower, she closed the gate, hoping that the curse inside won't go out to the world.
The lyrics of Fly High is a conversation between the girls as nightmares and another persona, presumably us, the listeners. The girls invade the other person's dreams and proceed to take their dreams and pains one by one, as they take the person away.

In You and I, the girls are now in a photo studio, disguised as photographers. They perform rituals and sacrifices using the photos of the people of their interest and take them away. As a client walks into the room, she sits down the sofa and waits for her picture to be taken. Yoohyeon presides the camera and instructs the lady on what to pose, as the lightning strikes outside, we see the silhouette of the lady transform into a huge spider. And it instantly takes over Yoohyeon's body. Yoohyeon, or now the possessed Yoohyeon, sits down in front of the camera and gets her picture taken. The photos taken was then bought into the developing room, where Siyeon, Gahyeon, and Handong do their rituals. They see the photos of the lady client but they don't realize that it's actually Yoohyeon. They then do the ritual and it then sends Yoohyeon's soul into the void in the "outside". JiU and the others realize this and they perform another ritual on her body and they put salt all around her, that ejected the Witch's dark soul out in the open and proceeds to haunt and chase JiU. In the middle of this, JiU sees another premonition in the form of a spinning top, symbolizing that what happened and what happens, won't be helped. What happened in the past, has come to haunt them in the present. JiU loses hope, and the portal that they made for Yoohyeon has closed up, leaving her alone outside.
The lyrics of You and I explains how the someone will always be on our side no matter what, even if we get lost. if we do get separated from them, we'd eventually be reunited with them.

In regards to timeline some of fandom thinks it’s

I think it's already established you n i is after goodnight...as in what mv, the members trying to rescue yoohyeon again after they failed to do that in you n i....they seek the book of nightmare again to enter the nightmare world in order to rescue yoohyeon...we see glimpse of the book in what mv...thus in piri all of them trap again in the nightmare.... experience different kind of nightmare...

Because when you watch each mv the family picture links fly high > you and I > chase me > good night and then the book links goodnight > what.
@@mrchow8025 at the end of good night the girls throw the book away so that people wont use it again...but they need to find it again in what because now yoohyeon trapped alone inside...so they required the book again to enter n save yoohyeon...

@@mrchow8025 i think the book only use to get inside the nightmare..once they all inside the nightmare, piri was used to locate each other.... because all of them got seperated...we see this in the mv as well as breaking out...they able to break the curse by reaching out to every member
