Will the critics of Jonbon now acknowledge he is the best 2 miler in Britain? he was never in doubt. What a special horse he is, superb round of jumping today (bar one blunder before the turn for home) .Some of his jumps were quite spectacular, and the way he quickened in the home straight leaving behind Energumene...wow. Credit must be given to Energumene though, he has had his problems and at age 11 he ran a mighty race in defeat today but no match for the younger Jonbon. This is what jumps racing is all about...a joy to watch this dual today. Roll on Cheltenham!
The number of Group 1 this horse has him, it's shocking they talk him down so much! I've followed all his races and he's been beat proper only once, by Constitution Hill. His other loss at Cheltenham, was so unlucky, he was lucky to standup with a jockey still on his back, but to then get back into the race as he did, just was a testament to his ability! I do think Sir Gino would skin him though, these 3 of Hendersons are serious speedsters!
That Kargese Energumene double has hurt some Mullins disciples today😂😂😂cheerio! Jonbon is one of the most disrespected stars of racing - hopefully he gets the credit he deserves now, phenomenal horse
@@Paulhanratty885 literally spoke about Mullins backers going for the double of two MULLINS horses. Not a Henderson one, shame you can’t read. Stop speaking from your pockets, take your frustration out on Townend/Mullins🤣🤣🤣
Yet another superb performance from Jonbon. Mullins will have to send Gaelic Warrior to the champion chase now after seeing another of his top 2 milers swatted away by Jonbon.
@ It depends on the races, I suppose. If Nicky Henderson was to win the Arkle with Sir Gino, Champion Chase with Jonbon, Champion Hurdle with Constitution Hill, Stayers' Hurdle with Lucky Place and Triumph Hurdle with Lulamba or Palladium and perhaps pick up the odd handicap, then it would take some topping. Plus he has Jango Baie in the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase, Kientzheim in the Mares' Novices' Hurdle for JP and Centreofattention, Donwave and Kientzheim in the Supreme all for JP.
@@seanscanlon9067 And in all honesty that's the best fire power going in to the festival in any stable in the UK and Ireland. Barring a solid gold cup contender Nicky could dominate. Palladium could be anything excited to see him run
@ Yeah Palladium has two entries next week, Thursday at Huntingdon and Friday at Doncaster. He will need to put in some performance though to have Nico choose him over Lulamba.
It seems only British punters criticise JobBin and Nicki Henderson, it's seems he is wrong if he runs a horse and dammed if he doesn't. I have always been a fan of Mister Henderson and how he treats his horses. Reminds me a bit like the late great Sir Henry Cecil. What was good for the horse was the best way. Both are very different codes of racing, but if you want longevity from a horse, you must be fair to it.
I used to love him, he was my go to trainer if I was ever in a hole. I just don't like his association with unibet, I know they're all at it, but I don't think think it should be allowed, it's a conflict of interest interest.
Energumene now 11 and back from injury like allaho last year was a shadow of himself, jonbon is admirable consistent but think people are getting carried away.
Energumene only turned 11 the other day and it is not like this was his first run back from injury, plus Banbridge certainly boosted the form of Energumene's win next time out. And if Energumene was beaten say four out and being scrubbed along then terms like 'a shadow of his former self' would be valid, but he travelled like a dream for much of the race and still retains plenty of ability and has run two times fewer than Jonbon, despite being two years old. Edwardstone is the same age as Energumene and yet has run twice as many times, so the latter does not especially have many miles on the cock.
Jonbon will always be 2nd best against v.good horses , hes a good horse but no better.... and he will keep beating this less than average crop. Loved his brother Douvan.
It would be true to say that Energumenes best performances have come on soft and heavy ground. On this good ground it heavily favoured Jonbon and he performed exactly like a horse who enjoys that type of ground. If it comes up good or good to soft at Cheltenham then he will win easily but if it is genuinely soft then Gaelic Warrior will be very hard to beat and I could see Energumene stepping up on trip to maybe going for the Ryanair. As for Kargese I would be surprised if there is a harder pulling horse anywhere and she showed when running against Sir Gino and Majborough that you cannot waste so much energy and still have something left at the finish. Maybe they might turn her into a front runner and see if she settles in the lead like Un de sceaux did in his early days. Obviously there is a massive engine in there but all engines need fuel and if the gas is used up too quickly you end up stalling before reaching your destination.
@rapidreaper unlike Martin I don't disappear when a horse I like gets bt.what did I say that's wrong ? Jonbon s 3 defeats have all come at Cheltenham and never won at the festival facts Energumene 3 defeats over fences have all come in this race fact?
@@johnsonkevin1 completely agree he bombed out in this race 2 yrs ago everyone wrote him off then he went and won. It's laughable how quick people write off horses
The english with their bitter comments hahaha embarrassing how sour yous are about irish trainers. Without them actually travelling across the sea horse racing be finished in England.
😂 That’s a fantasy. CHELTENHAM is still and will remain the World Cup, Punchestown etc pales in comparison. We welcome the competition and recently Ireland have produced some great horses and have proffered over here with the class horses and aided arguably by some overly lenient handicapping in lesser races. But it is cyclical and we will be back. Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliot in particular are terrific but Henderson especially and also Skelton will be a force at this years festival.
Doubt that very much, yes the Irish trainers are kings at the moment but that's because all the money is going over the sea. Irish racing is rubbish most of the time day to day very boring to watch. The big meetings are good but too few and far between.
Jonbon is top class and has possibly not yet reached his peak. Nicky Henderson has trained some fantastic 2 milers but potentially Jonbon is the best yet. People will start to insist he steps up in trip and he could like Shishkin be a King George horse. However remember Altior, when upped in trip, the gruelling Ascot race against Cyrname arguably hollowed out both horses. Altior was never as dominant again. Jonbon at 2 miles is supreme, let him reign there for a few more years.
Omg he ran to his form nothing more or less and beat a fading horse as ratings go he is 8lbs of a star 2 miler but has his best chance of being 2mile champion ,but I think he's no cert.
Probably the best two miler in UK provided its Ascot, sadly only average at Cheltenham. Can’t win the Champion chase as really doesn’t act at Cheltenham possibly doesn’t like left handed courses or the undulating circuit. If the champion chase was at Ascot he would be odds on but Cheltenham? Bet at your peril
