Great Video Despite the horse just not having IT the final furlong - the jockey put him where he needed to be. Very good of the jockey to let up and not push the horse in the final furlong. Wow that was some tight quarters racing for sure! Thank you for uploading.
Freya Harris In a handicap, horses are weighed differently in accordance to performance so the best horse will get the most weight and the worst horse will get the least weight.
I may be getting a thoroughbred soon. I have seen two mares that I'm considering one of which used to race. These horses are gorgeous. 😍 You make galloping seem effortless.
"...And I all could see were assholeS and they were getting smaller and smaller..." I think of this quote whenever I'm in the back of the pack, and I can't remember who said it first. Thanks for posting & stay safe out there all! ;-)
@MsVanorak: I'm no expert (& certainly no jockey), but it looks like he got boxed in a bit against the rail & behind a wall of horses towards the top of the stretch. When horses get really close to another horse running in front, I think they tend to start bobbing & rearing a bit, naturally of course. It is the jockey's responsibility to guide the horse away from such traffic. That's just what I think, again, no expert here!
It is where they are drawn in the barriers from inside out in this race. Barrier one then 2 etc. The attendant says about bringing the odds up first in reference to horses drawn in odd numbered draws. Hughes comes up in no2 after the odd ones have been placed in the starting stalls either side of him.
@@mickplant5186 now I've got it. It's what we call over here in the state's post position. As I said a little slow, but we okies do catch on. Thanks again for the reply.

I wish they would do this more often, including the bit before the race.
I blame the added weight of the camera.
If it was a handicap everyone would've weighed the exact same saddles and rider included. Not the horse though obvs lol
Freya Harris WRONG. lol If it was a handicap, the horses have different weights!
That's what I said... The horses all carry the same weight... The horses weigh different amounts.

That 1946 panasonic reel-to-reel was always going to weigh him down, decent picture though :)

Fantastic! Please get Barry Geraghty to wear one when he next rides Sprinter Sacre!

Dave Mckenna the jockey realized that he didn’t have any horse left so he eased up the horse.

+BitterBosh the horse was unlucky the jockey put him in a nice spot but got no room when he needed it
Incredible, National Hunt would be fantastic
he does know how to "hurry" that bitch, I wonder if hurry can be used as a verb, just learning english here. see you later, mates. Nice video, btw.
2.03 were gonna let the odds go up 🤔
Craig Clifton he meant the odd numbers like 1,3,5 so whatever horse is in an odd numbered stall, they will go first
You lost😣😥😥
GO IRISH!
Kind of awkward at the start....
Would like to know how this horse ran the next two times out, after hearing we are going to let the odds go up. Sounds like a money horse.
fuck me ,its soft aint it !!!lol

He was referring to the barrier draw. The horse was drawn in barrier 2.
@@mickplant5186 Mick thanks for the reply. Sorry a little slow here, but what is meant by barrier draw. Thanks

He ran once more and was well beaten (11th out of 23 runners), he then was retired and sent to stud to breed horses which is a very good way to go out
