How i remove the high level or centre rear stop lamp from a mk4 ford mondeo tailgate
When changing rear bulbs I find it easier being prepared by putting a mattress in the boot them jumping in to do the job just in case it takes you until tomorrow to do it.
You are right the pre facelifted ones have 5 bulbs but it’s not tremendously hard to switch. I managed to pry it out on my 08 Mondeo
I've been looking all over how to disengage these black clips to do the same repair for my 13 focus. Thank you so much for your video.

Nice vid. Any idea how to stop the door mechanism freezing solid on a mk4 mondeo when it drops below freezing. I cannot workout what freezes solid. Thanks.
Good viewing as always Alan & crew.Not sure what he hit..but a deer or badger or wild boar leaves similar damage & more..tho I must add all of the vehicles had evidence of fur/hairs around broken headlamps.Once saw a horse across the front seats of a vehicle the car totally destroyed!
we had a peugeot expert hit a horse that had gotten onto a motorway..the vehicle was wrote off..not sure about the horse

All the Mk4.5 Mondeos (2011 on) have LED centre brake light. On the estate, just remove the screw from the internal tailgate handle and pull off the interior trim - bottom first, then uppermost trim, you can then unclip the light through the two access panels where the cable harnesses clip in. Disassembly is in my video from fixing the reversing camera "SDG CAR #03".
Thank you. This light is however quite easy to remove on the estate version.
I hit a deer on Werrington Parkway in Peterborough local to you in my work van (Transit) and the only damage was the emotional scar i left the school girls who were stood at bus stop and witnessed the collision.
I think the driver hit a wall I think.. I hit a munkjack at 40mpg on the a47.. my car needed a new bumper and washer bottle.
I would make the driver pay...keep them vids coming 😎😎

I hit a badger at 60mph in mk3 many years ago on the A51 heading to Chester. I saw something move from the verge about 75 metres ahead then it ran accross the road. One of those flash situations. Swerve or hit it. At that speed any swerve was going to cause me to end up in the weeds myself in a bad state so had to take the decision to slam the anchors on (didn't do much and hit it). Straight through the bumper, ripped the intercooler out, slammed that over and cracked the air con rad and leaked all its gas out - was 11.30 at night (had it re-gassed only about 6 weeks before). Nothing I could do about the gas pissing out. Ripped the mount off the main cooling radiator - thankfully didn't split it. Oh and then bent the front subframe when it hit the cross brace on the front of it. Cost me several hundred quid to sort that lot out. Suffice to say it would have had a major headache and I didn't stop to see if it was alive.

That was not a Muntjac, there was a donation of paint to something solid ! Muntjac are no more that .5m tall, Probably the worst small animal to hit at speed is a badger, they are solid and can take a front wheel off !

That's the best way to get them centre break lights out, why can't car manufacturers make a cover so you can have easy access, I had one once that had one but can not remember what make it was,

Alan have you ever had to fix what seems to be fairly common on mk4 2l tdci...slight gentle hesitation when foot to floor in higher gears. No faults or dash lights. New fuel filter. It's been suggested one of the brown vac control valves may be playing up...one controls boost one does egr . Another thought I had was to force a dpf regen. Any thoughts welcome
could be the boost vacuum solenoid, not something i have come across, maybe get a good used solenoid and try it..they are expensive to buy new

Might as well change all bulbs in a lamp cluster anyway for what its worth, new bulbs are brighter and if they don't go straight away they'll last longer than old ones so your far less likely to have another go on you for a while.

Estate version you remove the inside top trim inside the tailgate, then it's similar story right in front of you. Mind the sharp metal edges though...

Ha no chance that car has hit a dear, has been driven into something solid.
I must say I prefer that type of panel clips to the christmas tree clips that VW use that brake every time.
That Mondeo hit Marie her computer case, thats why its missing the side pannel.

My stop light bar has stopped working on my 2007 model. Can I replace the old bar with a LED light bar ? .
Or is it a different connection ?.
Advice please before I attempt this orrible process lol . Or pay my suffering mechanic to do it for me.
I would check to see if you have a live going to the lamp first as it was common for the centre stop lamps to stop working due to broken wires

if they are not led then you pull a cover back inside the boot and press a tab to release the lamp bulb holders and pull the holders out from the lamp unit

Tried your method. All I've done is smashed up my rear interior boot trim. It's now cracked with most of the moulded areas that hold those clips broken away from the trim. Don't suppose you travel do you? Sort this out?

Hi Alan I am hoping you can help here I have a mk4 Mondeo 2l diesel auto . It has a coolant leak above the turbo not sure where it's coming from yet any ideas on what it could be I am guessing it's the pipe that runs along the block near the head . It done almost 300000ks

Hi Alan are these rear bright light strips really expensive because if they are I can try and repair them for you and reseal them back up because I am a qualified electronics repairs engineer if that helps you and I could also attempt to repair LED clusters

hi i don't know if you cover this but i got a mk4 2007 and there water getting into the boot would you know where it could be coming from. there sign of water on the driver side uder the that carpet trim and there water around this rubber plug in the body but look like water is coming from between two metal plate is there something under the bumper that could be leaking ?

i have searched the forums and cant seem to find anything similar to the issue I'm having although I'm sure its very common.
the interior lights in my Mondeo don't seam to come on when the car is unlocked or the doors are opened, the button for turning all the lights on and the button for the open door function seam to work but when you turn on the reading lights they work front and back. i was wondering is this a fuse or is it a case of needing a new light module in the front.
any help would be great thanks.
My father would of belted it out with a sledge hammer filled it in with hardwall plaster and pollyfiller and painted it over with a brush like he did to His Hillman Imp.

I have a 06 Mondeo TDCI (mk3). No problems starting from cold, but if the engines up to temperature and I stop for a short while, when I try to start the engine again it’s very difficult to start. Any ideas what it could be?
Well I wouldn't fancy having to sort that brake lamp on the M1 at 3am at - 10°

if you have the 2litre diesel there is a special shaped spanner to unscrew the filter

the newer 4.5 mondeo tail lights doe not fit straight in without modification and what you can buy aftermarket for led conversion is limited but you can led headlamp bulbs
All off them bastards any off them got galaxy myself hate it even dread when customer comes with one none come out easy

you've got a coolant leak...you need a good mechanic to find it
Are the mk4 mondeos any better than the mk3
My opinion, having done 250,000 in 2 mk3s, and 50,000 in a mk4. All 2l tdci zetecs. The mk4 is definitely much more refined, both in how it drives and smoother and quieter. I used to drive my 130hp mk3s with blanked egr and clean manifold and they certainly felt like they accelerated harder then the 140 mk4. Alan agreed with that too. Mk4 is better on fuel. I still believe the climate control is either on or off just like the mk3 lol. And you still get wet opening a tailgate after it's rained :-)

The driver is talking out of his arse Alan , make him pay for it because it is illegal to lie on an insurance claim , I hope the other party concerned turns up , if they have got a replacement vehicle ask for it back , not worth renting taxis to liers, as you say, no animal residue on any of the remaining parts on the vehicle, tell him you are informing the police because you believe he is lying about the incident

I've come across your excellent videos on UA-cam and wonder if you could offer me any advice in your experience.
I've a Mk5 Mondeo Titanium 65 Plate. When it is cold the engine sounds as though it is struggling to start.
When it's warmer temp outside it starts no problem.
Once it starts up if it does struggle, it is fine thereafter until left standing for a long time again (overnight) and it is cold.

I've been to my local garage and they replaced the fuel filter first and then said if that did not work then to change the glow plugs. At that point Covid-19 closed places so I have not been able to get that done yet.
In your experience of the Mk5, have you ever come across this problem before and found the fix?
Any help or advice you could suggest would be appreciated mate.

it could possibly be a glow plug..they would need to be checked..i watched your video..does sound like glow plug problem, i would also plug in diagnostic tool and check ecu codes
Cheers Alan. They had the diagnostic on it prior to doing the fuel filter and no error codes came back. Hopefully the glow plugs being replaced will sort it. Thanks again mate.
