We was always placing at least second place alongside Legit and Stark, and we’ve all been aware of his potential. To hear about him 3-0ing motherfucking MK Leo?? Super proud of the kid!
You have a really good point that I've heard before about adaptability making a great player... I remember at a Con several years ago I did a Bo5 in Smash 4 with a player who I think was tournament level? Regardless, he was destroying everyone there, in 8-player Smash even, without it being even close. I got destroyed on the first 2 rounds, but then I somehow got the download on his playstyle and managed to beat him the 2 following rounds. Sadly, he did beat me again on the last fight, but I didn't felt salty about it at all. I was already impressed with myself that I took it to game 5 despite being only average at the game based on skill level alone. My opponent was impressed too, apparently, and he shook hands with me very respectfully at the end, saying GG and stuff, which he hadn't really done with anybody else in the room since I had gotten there. He then asked me if I played in tournament as well and stuff like that and I was really embarassed to say that I didn't. He admitted that he wasn't really his main, but actually trying to use a new character for the heck of it, but that he still thought that I had potential if I kept playing. Still haven't actually participated to any tournament to this day, though... social anxiety is a big barrier and I don't have that much of a competitive spirit. But I still remember that day of my first contact with the "hardcore" Smash community as being a good one. If only my base skill level wasn't so garbage, I would have more self-confidence to actually be part of it... But later on, I got on Twitter and what I saw made me nope out of there. But yeah, TL;DR, that guy was stuck playing like a robot like you said due to not having any serious competition and adapting to it is what made me win 2 rounds. Sorry about the long written flashback here, I kinda felt nostalgic for some reason.
@@ChuckisNorrish I've got nothing to prove to you buddy. You feel free to believe it or not. Especially to someone who replies to comments which are nearly one year old just to be a dick on a Zero video of all things.
8:40 People forget that Mario's D-Air in Ultimate deals slightly more damage without its knockback being compensated. That move is dangerous if it hits you near the top blast zone, with or without rage.
Da_Kracken Nah, this is just part of the ritual. He can only unlock his plot armor if he loses early on in the tournament. So he lost early on and unlocked plot armor. Hence he won.
Losing only made him ANGRIER. Also I heard he totally would have picked Byleth if he ran into prodigy again. That's fear right there. Anger is a threat response.
Tom Hill I don't think angry is the correct description of what he was feeling, especially because of the things he said during the interview post tournament. Check it out.
Leo's a true pro. He has one of the best mentalities I've seen in a Smash player. Its what won him the tournament aside from his ability to adapt and his great fundamentals. Most people probably would have been way too shook to go through loser's after that loss--and that's not counting the fact that loser's in this tourney was pretty much a boss rush mode for Leo afterwards. Dark Wizzy, Nairo, Samsora, Dabuz, zackray, Tea, Tweek, and top it off 6-0ing Maister. Yeah. Guy's a legend. And Prodigy beat that legend, even if he didn't win the tournament.

After watching Leo's set against wizzy and prodigy it seems like Leo was expecting Prodigy to play like Wizzzy who prefers to camp out Arsene and was not ready for the aggressive approach Prodigy took instead.
Some Dude With a Scarf I don't think you understand the meaning of the word "washed," because no, he is not. Losing is not "getting washed," that is just not how that works.
Great analysis Zero! There was a lot to learn from this intense match, and I'm glad that you were able to highlight Prodigy's actions play-by-play (super insightful). Keep up the great work and please continue to cover professional matches like these :D
Trust Leo has learn from this extreme upset and when they cross path again, this scenario isn’t going to happen again, it’s going to be a 3-0 situation.
Noel Vega idk like zero said, upsets are usually gimmicks or unknown matchups but this time it was pure fundamentals and combo game. Their next match is gonna be an interesting one.
@Ultimate L well hear this stages, and players are needed to be taken into account, Players play characters very differently, on different stages, Assuming that all top mario players play the same is how you lose... Cause spoiler, They dont.
Ultimate L I can't exactly fathom how ignorant your comment is. 1. Dark Wizzy is a better player than Prodigy. Leo losing to Prodigy proves nothing about Leo, especially because he defeated Dark Wizzy. It only proves something about Prodigy. 2. It is difficult to defeat someone you have never played against, even if you are more skilled. It is extremely common for the better player to lose the match, only for every rematch afterwards to be won by the better player. Most winning records occur this way. Prodigy has a significantly different playstyle than Dark Wizzy. 3. Nobody is saying Leo losing was a fluke. I don't know how low your reading comprehension has to be for you to act like that is what we are saying. Him losing once does not prove he will lose again. Literally NOT how logic and science work. 4. Frame data has absolutely nothing to do with this. Leo lost because he was outplayed in the neutral game, not because of Mario's frame data. Joker is literally a better character than Mario, I don't know what makes you think frame data makes a difference. Whether you get outplayed or not has nothing to do with frame data.
So opinion: Kids that are really good at smash Brothers aren't geniuses, they just have more time to play the game. They are literally the target audience.
Kids have faster reaction time and are more high energy than adults. This helps them do godlike combos and tech. Also, they tend to be more fearless or reckless. Adults tend to be more slow in reflexes and focus more on the anticipation aspect of the game. While they are slower (not by much tho), they have mote knowledge and wisdom in playing the game for years.
It really seems like after you've learned your character and have pretty good tech fundamentals, the biggest difference in low and high level play is being able to read what your opponent is going to do and having that reactive mindset while playing in competitive. Are there any good ways to specifically practice this to help develop a more reactive playstyle?
Some people catch on to that quicker than others but overall "Iron sharpens iron". You gotta play to get better at playing. Know what options are available to you, dive into other mindsets, pick them apart and add it to your own.
I wonder if the smash community is going to bully this kid like that one 15 old girl Edit: God, this kid could fucking 99 stock me, this Mario is scary.
Spookyu !! Hmmmm when I send out eternatus it says he’s exerting massive pressure and then the opposing Pokemon can’t eat any berries and it’s that now because it changed in sword and shield
They will not bully him. I do not want to sound like a feminist but I have a feeling people bullied her because she is a girl... I mean smash fans can be very sexist
Gabli The reason they bullied her/him/them was because of a Twitter controversy surrounding some allegedly racist comments. So, unless Prodigy has a Twitter account where he makes controversial comments, I really doubt he will have anything to worry about. But then again, the Smash community is trash, so who knows...

You should get out there! If you want to compete, trying just once or twice couldn't hurt. Good luck either way, sounds like a great moment!

MKLeo: Why do I hear boss music?
Nice
Everyone in losers bracket: Why do I hear boss music?
It's funny you say that considering Leo won the entire tournament
Chrom : Your win ends here
He has a name lol
Talk about being aggressive on your wedding day, Mario is having none of it
8:40
People forget that Mario's D-Air in Ultimate deals slightly more damage without its knockback being compensated. That move is dangerous if it hits you near the top blast zone, with or without rage.
It still wouldn't kill without rage
Confirmed: Smash Ultimate competitive scene is part of Pizzagate.
Ironically, Leo proceeds to perform one of the the biggest Losers Bracket destructions this year...
My man trying to make up for that L LMAO
Leon my mans
Da_Kracken Nah, this is just part of the ritual. He can only unlock his plot armor if he loses early on in the tournament. So he lost early on and unlocked plot armor. Hence he won.
Losing only made him ANGRIER. Also I heard he totally would have picked Byleth if he ran into prodigy again. That's fear right there. Anger is a threat response.
Tom Hill I don't think angry is the correct description of what he was feeling, especially because of the things he said during the interview post tournament. Check it out.

I love how Leo preserved through this whole set. If I were Leo, I would of rage quit on the third match

DMoogle Losing early on in the tournament is how Leo unlocks plot armor to win grand finals.
You're saying that like you're proud
Leo wouldn't be mad because he lost finally once
The amount of sense this kid has is crazy. He read Mk like a book and used all the best options to win. Amazing game👍🏼
In the post tournament interview Leo said that Prodigy knew and played the MU very well by being so aggressive
Zero you make such lighthearted content but hearing your analysis is AWESOME and really shows how amazing of a player you are and how much you understand the game. More analysis videos!!!
11:34 did anyone else notice that Mario literally lands on his head after doing an up air right above the platform?? 😂
I mean that’s just Mario’s tech animation that happens when you auto cancel his up air
AJ Popick yeah... and it’s awesome
Yeah 🤣
I want Zero to analyze Maister’s sets or Toast’s sets with Samsora and Light next.
When I saw that 3-0 man I knew Leo had competition

Omg this game was amazing. The first smash tournament I’ve actually got to watch live. So much talent in this community from the players, commentators to production.
I really like this content btw. I would love this to be a deep dive series. Really good learning tool. Thanks for this!

This was amazing! BUT an equally great upset happened this tournament...... Elegant (Luigi) beat the player who won Evo Japan (3000+ entrants) Shuton 👀👀👀👀👀

1:35 can we just talk about that tech from Leo? Holy I would not be able to do that even if I knew
Zero: “most legendary mario play...” * dark wizzy left the chat*
After watching Leo's set against wizzy and prodigy it seems like Leo was expecting Prodigy to play like Wizzzy who prefers to camp out Arsene and was not ready for the aggressive approach Prodigy took instead.
He confirmed this in his post grand finals interview
@@ictoan4258 i skipped the interview so thanks for the info I'll have to watch it.

Prodigy: Gets a kill

The real reason MKLeo lost is because he wasn't thinking about: "Take it"
.

Only MKleo Subs would know this. 🙊
Wonder if youtube was still recommending people Cosby skits after he got put in the can
You hate to see it, best player in the world mains a DLC character.
Leo- sarcastic “Damn I lost GG” Leo in losers- time to end these people’s whole career.
I saw ppl saying Leo is washed after this.. LOL NOOO
That's probably because ppl think of Skill as transitive
Prodigy 3-0‘d him, but Leo still isn‘t out, which means the Tournament is game 4
They were also saying now that joker is nerf he can't carry leo anymore
Leo got washed but no he's still the best
Some Dude With a Scarf I don't think you understand the meaning of the word "washed," because no, he is not. Losing is not "getting washed," that is just not how that works.

Zero we need MORE breakdown and analysis videos like this!!! So informative, thanks a bunch!
Leo has the download on prodigy now
@Ultimate L well hear this stages, and players are needed to be taken into account, Players play characters very differently, on different stages, Assuming that all top mario players play the same is how you lose...
9:08 Mario's face though 😂😂😂
So opinion:
Kids that are really good at smash Brothers aren't geniuses, they just have more time to play the game.
They are literally the target audience.
Taylor Bee wait don’t the adult players have more time to play smash just because that’s what they do for a living.
I wonder if the smash community is going to bully this kid like that one 15 old girl
Edit: God, this kid could fucking 99 stock me, this Mario is scary.
*Prodigy is exerting massive pressure*
Now your Pokemon can’t eat berries
Spookyu !! Hmmmm when I send out eternatus it says he’s exerting massive pressure and then the opposing Pokemon can’t eat any berries and it’s that now because it changed in sword and shield

I think we need a Zackray highlight reel reaction here from frostbite. The amount of insane combo's he pulled off is godly

It's so poetic he lost to Mario. The first smash character and the true people's champ.
It ain’t that deep bro

Gabli The reason they bullied her/him/them was because of a Twitter controversy surrounding some allegedly racist comments. So, unless Prodigy has a Twitter account where he makes controversial comments, I really doubt he will have anything to worry about.
