I was a big Upchurch fan for years. It seems to me that he is having some substance abuse issues. He is increasingly spun off with every new video. It's sad and I really hope somebody close to him convinces him to seek help.
Just so you know, Upchurch has dissed Tom a number of times and claims that Tom is fake even though they've done a song together called "Travelers". As a matter of fact a lot of people say Tom is fake. I just think they're jealous because they can't achieve what Tom has achieved.
You can't drown a giant HOG in a "Creek" that polluted and shallow.

The thing about Tom is that he started doing what he wanted BEFORE he got big. He & Nova were living in a dump in South Central La. They were flat BROKE. Tom tells the story- He had a half a cigarette left, went out on the porch & wrote "Dear Rappers" in like 5 minutes. He went in & told Nova "Set up the Camera, I just wrote the song that's gonna change our lives". By the next morning, it had gone viral & the rest is history!

The word you're looking for to describe the choruses, anthem. Tom writes simple, clear, relatable lyrics and then puts them to music that's haunting or driving in a way that locks them into your mind and rallies people around these truths and conversations that NEED to be had. He rights anthems for those who understand what he's talking about to keep marching forward to. Adam, Tom, Brandon, mad child, Dax, and of course Nova aren't about being independent so they can get rich. They're about being independent, so they can say the things that the media, labels, and the system itself is trying to supress. The labels are all about selling a product, but Tom is all about being honest and authentic. He won't sell you posion in order to make a doller, and the system would sell your soul for spare change. Because he made that clear to his H.O.G. fam, we have supported him to where he is becauae we can trust him to give us exactly who he is, as he is. When he hurts we hurt with him because his pain is our pain. When he shakes his fist at the system, he speaks with rage and frustration of people who are tired of the world coming unglued in our back yards while the media lies to our face. Tom is real and raw & we know Tom from his wrestling days and most folks know that Brandon Hart, Tomʼs best friend comes from the ledgendary Hart wrestling family! Tom is also an incredible business man and Nova is super talented! They are both very real people bc believe me all the fans that follow Tom are from every walk of life and every shade and he would have been called out a long time ago if he was plastic in any way ! 🎶 This is for anyone new who may want to take the NF journey as we call it because he intertwines his music like marvel movies. All of his albums are like a connected series.
He also hides eggs in his videos which he co-directs and co-produces.
For example in his “When I Grow Up” song there were four hidden eggs in that song: 1. A black balloon by the trash cans (black balloon represents his burdens per search single) 2 In the burger joint he grabbed at receipt that had the date and time of when his song time was being released. 3. He had outcast written on his name tag in the janitor scene which references his Outcast song. 4. He had his moments album CD in car scene
Another example is in the search song he had cage in background he rapped in from his outcast song. Search single also connects to Hope. In Hope he has the “map to hope”.
