bought one for my lam upright, hooked it to a realist super docking station preamp, killer.
Thanks! I would love to see more upright content to include EUB reviews. Nice playing, Lars!
Having this pick up for 3 years now on my upright. Was very surprised when first time plugged it in. Had even more output then my old realist. Lars plays quite high on the fingerboard which sounds a bit boomy. I play lower so i not a more articulate, pizzicato sound. If you have a chance to try these out, just do it!
Very nice, natural tone from what i hear 🎻
LOL nice animation at the end there, wasn't expecting it :D
Honestly the pizzicato isn't the most natural sound, but brings that rubber funk modern upright sound. Pretty cool for modern jazz/fusion
The Arco sounds pretty good for a piezo!
Seems like a "mid-pushed" sound to my ear
Agree about the rubbery pizz - kind of like was popular in jazz in the late '70s into the '80s. About the least rubbery piezo I've heard is the Full Circle, which imho is pretty decent (& is very useable, live - with a bit of EQ), But for recording there's still no substitute for a mic, at least for jazz.
Lars rocks everything!
Always got time for upright bass!
The more I see Lars play the better I like him. If you haven’t subscribed to his channel you should
Cool animation!
Sounds pretty good. How does do with Rockabilly slap-style?
No by cheap, how cheap? Also you guys should check out Northern Lutherie pickups, they make noiseless pickups for upright. Which is what I’m using on mine. You don’t have to worry about noise from the pickup leads or the jack.
sounds more than good to me!
Wonderful.
I NEED MORE BASS
Ah, he got the ANS pickup! I think - due to my experience with the different pickup units I tried so far - it's the best pickup. Or are there any better sounding options?!
Try using a cheap mic instead. The Audix F90 / ADX90 can be had under a hundred bucks, and positioned correctly sounds awesome thru amplification.
Good luck with feedback.
@@donaldthompson7766 actually I have good luck with feedback. I’m not playing stadiums, so it gets loud enough to match up with unamplified drummer and horns without inducing feedback. Which is all I need.
Will something like this work on ancient Baroque instruments? like lutes or viola de gambas?
I am looking for a better pickup for my UBass - could I utilise this?
SAMURAI !!
TIPP: Gibts auch bei Thomann, aber da heißt er GEWA DB-1, ist aber derselbe
Sorry, but this pick up makes that lovely bass sound like my cheap EUB. Given how much double basses cost and the investment in learning to play them I think it is worth getting a good pick up.
I really think it’s not the pick up, in fact is the player set up. Personally I don’t like the sound too, but you definitely can get a different sound.
So right up at at 8 second in athlete’s your answer. No. That sounds crap. And does not sound like a Double Bass AT all.
cool shirt! big muff. lol.
German bow, of course :)
