    To train a LGD we were told by the seller that you have to take them for a walk ,as a young dog, around the perimeter of where you want them to patrol. If you don't they will pick their own patrol area. Do this regularly when they are young. We did it and it works.

      Kevin and Rachael at Hidden Heights showed the LGD where his perimeter was and they trained their LGD that way.

    Interacting with your LGD won't harm him at all. I have a set and treated them just like a pet. Taught them correct behavior around small and large farm animals. This is my second time to have Great Pyrenees and they've done awesome. Abs all were treated like pets.

      Check K&S and see how a lgd is very much a part of the family. Also how Eddie and his family treat their animals.

      Please raise the puppy as a member of the farm family. Dogs like to be in a pack. The puppy moved from a farm raised by his mom with family around. Why put him in solitary? Do you think if he falls in love with your family he will not protect your home and farm? Just feel sad for some of these LDG dogs that come from love and are raised in isolation.

    • @kellystephens077
      @kellystephens077 Рік тому +16

      @@SewtiredI agree that you can still interact with your LGD. If they are put with a flock or herd of animals at a young age those animals are their pack and they will put their life on the line for them. Most LGDs will be aloof, off resting and napping throughout the daylight hours because they worked night shift the night before.

A little advice for you.....When ever one goes into a forest/woods deep & secluded, always bring a side-arm (pistol or revolver) the bigger the caliber the better. Also, a canteen of water, pepper spray, cell phone & last a knife, preferably a dagger n sheath type. You never know what or who you may just happen upon. Be prepared is the boy scout motto. @@judybass4339 one of my sons lives in waynesville n.c and moving to Asheville soon. There’s so much beauty here. Each season is another piece of god’s artwork. The thing I miss about living in Florida is the beautiful sunrise and sunsets over the peace river, such bright vibrant colors each day but more I. The summer than I’ve noticed anytime of the year. We can’t see the rises and sets of the sun up here tho because we’re pretty high up. So what town are you going to be visiting for the wedding?

    Hey, a couple tricks to run off the bugs. When I was in the service, we were in areas that had chiggers, redbugs, chigoes, ( these rascals burrow UNDER the skin), ticks, and leeches. We would eat a tablespoon of powdered sulfur every morning. YES, you will stink to heaven at the end of the day. A quick shower eliminates this. If no shower, well, everyone smells the same. But, no parasites. Also, in the service, tightly bloused boots, waist & sleeves. 100% cotton wicks moisture. Long sleeves are a must. Evaporation combined with " broken in" cotton insures cooling. Look at people that live near the equator. Light pastel ( sun) long sleeve cotton shirts. Also, if you keep using DEET based repellant, you will start developing allergies. It's not good for you. Use essential oil herbal types. A couple drops in your palm covers leg . It's very good and natural. Beware the pump!! I got this essential oil in my eyes once. An immediate trip to the eye doc. Then, you just have to take care. If you have gnat problems, 4 drops of Dawn in 1/4 cup APPLE vinegar will wipe them out. The vinegar smells like decomposing fruit, the soap supplies the surface tension to catch them. Old folks used these remedies and they work. My 94 year old Mom still uses this stuff. Hope it helps.

      PS, sulfer was a " dog days" remedy in the old days. Dog days, the end of high summer when everything out there wants to bite.

    I love that bike, it looks like a beast. As for the pictures from the game camera, I thought you were getting them remotely on your phone. I had no idea you had to go retrieve it first, sorry about that. I hate that you did that, that was risky, especially after seeing those pictures. Seems like the only thing not out there were bear and mountain lions. And in a couple of shots it looked like a domestic pig, white with spots. Thanks for showing us.

    Wow Dutch look at all them pig’s. I don’t understand why you can’t get them with Daniel’s trap. I’m not being critical, but it’s really going to affect your hunting this fall . That’s a bummer 😢 but Daniel does need to trap his own. I Hope you can find a way to control your population of wild pig’s. It would benefit every ranch, farm and homestead. If people don’t get that they are living in a fantasy world and shouldn’t watch real life farming. They can go to the Disney channel’s. I’m sorry I had to vent, but no negative comments!!

    I caught a poacher / hunter who attached a permanent tree stand on one of my Douglas Fir trees. Illegal in my area even on private property. I put up no trespassing no hunting signs all around the tree stand. Guess what? The following hunting season, two more permanently attached tree stands appeared. Come early November, prior to the start of Deer season, I placed bear traps at the bottom of the tree stands. And signs of no trespassing, no hunting, and Bear traps are in use on the property. The bear traps were moved from the original placements, and the tree stands disappeared.
