He is literally talking about his notebook to his notebook. NF likes to personify feelings and things in his songs, and he's personifying his notebook. Talking about how it was his best friend and therapy for him growing up.

Oooohhh see now that we were reading the lyrics over, that all makes sense.. hence the topic . I was assuming it had to be about him mom as well. You sometimes miss things until you listen to it again. ☺️. Thank you for commenting. -Andrea
