  • WRFM Stereo 105 New York - Joe Roberts - March 31 1974
Beautiful music air checks are hard to come by, so I am happy whenever I find one. This aircheck features New York’s Stereo 105 WRFM. The station started with the format in 1968, and it ran through the early 1980s.
Feel free to check out some of the many other videos on the Ellis B Feaster's Radio Channel! Established in 2008!
One of You Tube's oldest RADIO AIRCHECK MUSEUM with a NEW VIDEO posted daily at 3PM EST.
After over 40 years working on the radio, I have recorded lots of radio airchecks, and many from my friends as well.
You'll find audio of many radio personalities who have passed away. Lots radio recordings from the 1940s, through the 2010.
We also talk about radio broadcasting. If you happen to have classic airchecks, maybe even of yourself on the air, we'd love to share it here!
We also share videos about Travel & Cruising. I share tips on how I travel cheaply, so you can do it also! Find me on Facebook: / ellisairchecks

WBES 96 FM Charleston, West Virginia, was Easy Listening in March 1974, we called the music Grocery Store Music and K-Mart music. Thanks again Ellis, the aircheck was great.

@The World War II News and Old Time Radio Channel yes I agree. But being from Charleston, West Virginia, we were limited on elevators in 1974.... not much difference in 2021. Lol Lol

Love your names! Elevator music was our name.

I used to keep them on in the background late at night while working on term papers during high school or college. Rock and roll was just too jarring -- in moments like this -- to concentrate.

This is just fantastic. If my parents were still alive they would love you. Those who have good memories will remember Joe Roberts when he worked at radio station WBIC AM on Long Island, later to become WLIX AM.

This music with the slight FM hiss in the background was very calming when coming down from a high

Certainly worth it for the news update . . . WRFM had that type of format in news delivery for years. (Although on certain dayparts, the DJ's would open such 'casts with "In the news from WRFM . . . ')

WGPC AM and FM were both the Easy Listening radio stations in Albany, Georgia back in 1974. This coming March 24 marks the fourth anniversary of the deletion of the WGPC license at 1450 on the AM dial, while the FM station is now WKAK at 104.5 with a country music format. Anyway, thanks for sharing and posting another rare piece of radio history from years gone by. God Bless You.

In DC we had WGAY owned by Country Music Promoter Connie B Gay, he bought WQMR AM and for a buck more he bought WGAY fm. Best investment of a dollar I’ve seen as that side of the dial grew in popularity.

I grew up listening to this only because my mother listened to it every morning. The Hollyridge Strings was their most frequent musical act. Nope, no Pink Floyd, no Janis, no Hendrix (;-p)

Great to hear those Anita Kerr jingles which lasted quite a few years on RFM.

A bygone era. Boston had WEZE and the ‘Wonderful World of ((Elevator) Music would play on my uncle’s car radio while he swore at the traffic. So many FM’s played classical or elevator music before rock started showing up in the late 60’s. The last big BM station in Boston was WJIB into the 90’s.

I believe the announcer's voice is that of the late Ken Lamb.

Reminds me, sadly, of Larry Lujack trying to sell this format when he got stuck at WCFL after they dumped Top 40.
