She was a great singer, great dancer, funny, intelligent, and certainly not least, heartbreakingly beautiful. Rest in peace, Mary. I wish I could have known you.
I'm only 13 and I have been watching this show since I was like 11 and I love it so much. Mary was so pretty and i really wish i could have met her. RIP Mary Tyler Moore
I cannot recollect two so multi talented stars on any sitcoms of our modern age. They were funny. Their acting impeccable. Could sing AND dance and it all happened before a live audience. I don't believe they used canned laughter ( someone correct me if I'm wrong ). Just love them both!
Mary Tyler Moore and Dick Van Dyke did an interview on the Larry King Show in 1999. It was wonderful. CNN put it up today because of the passing of Larry King, a true titan himself. But guess how the 1999 interview ended? King asked Van Dyke to sing to Mary and he did this song. She joined in and it was magic. I found this video today in 2021 because of that 1999 CNN interview. Thanks, Adina.
She was so very talented singing, dancing, and acting. It is so sad that this great performer's special talents we're never utilized in musicals and such. She needed a manager and agent who could exploit these talents and she would have been a much much bigger star today. 🤔🤗♥️
I'm glad I met you Wonderful is the only word for you You wonderful you You wonderful you I can't forget you Isn't it grand you find what love can do You wonderful you You wonderful you You're like a breath of spring (Tell me) A whole new thing Has happened (all the pretty things I wanna hear) And without much ado I look at you and (I can see that) THERE STANDS LOVE my arms around you Isn't that what your arms are really for (That's wonderful too) That's wonderful too (I'm glad I found you) Looking around I found there are no more like (you wonderful) YOU you-hoho Remember, finders keepers Losers, weepers AND BECAUSE THATS TRUE YOU'RE MINE NOW YOU WONDERFUL YOUUUU
By the way, Dick doesn't *really* step on Mary's foot at the end. He goes out of his way to AVOID doing that, at 2:18. But "Laura's" reaction is SO convincing, nobody notices, anyway.
I think out of all the stars who've sung duets together Laura and Rob sang this song the best. I just watched a video with Gene Kelly and Liza Minnelli sing 'You Wonderful You' and of course I think they are both great but Laura and Rob give the song the pazz'azz it needed. I love the Dick Van Dyke show😁👍🏼🎉💞
I'm surprised Mary never got into singing like most female comedians of her time (Carol Burnett, for one.) She has a terrific voice, and great dancing skills to go along with them.
Yes but with playback. So they would say “Ms. Moore, Mr. Van Dyke, if you’d please 🎵” and then cut them in. The real question is did they have the technology for it or were the actors just out of breath LOL
MTM was stunning as Mary Richards, too! And what a fabulous sense of style she had. In both shows, her clothes were beautiful, flattered her figure and played up her femininity, yet portrayed her strength, confidence and self esteem. This was especially true in her role of Mary Richards where she played the single woman going against the norm, putting career ahead of marriage. Mary possessed an inner beauty, an innate fashion sense and a natural elegance. She could make sweat pants and a sweatshirt look like high fashion. And the way she looked in evening gowns makes other women's haute couteur look like rags. Do you remember the gorgeous dresses she wore in the DVD episode from season 1 "Jealousy," or the season 2 episode, "I'm No Henry Walden?" I can't remember a specific episode from the the MTM show, but besides the green cutout dress that will go down in history (not for its beauty!) I remember a lovely black strapless form fitting gown with a long white scarf that draped from one shoulder to the next, passing across the front of the neck and dropping all the way down her back on both sides, long slit up the side over one leg. In all three of these, Mary looked completely at ease, elegant and sultry! I wish I had just 1/10 her style and elegance. She and Audrey Hepburn are my absolute ideals of beauty and grace.
@@terrig7006 I think perhaps I am not a fan of 1970s fashions, both clothing and hairstyles. I just think Laura Petrie was beautiful. I don't look at Mary Richards the same way. I'm sorry.
i grew up w/ this show but always found it rather bland, however, there's no mistaking the uber Talents of both MTM and DVD... really incredible performers.

She was so stunning. Elegant and sings so pretty. RIP Ms. Moore.

I think they did once, when Kennedy was murdered. i think They didn't have much choice
They were very very special on ANY stage. Two of the very very best EVER.
Two of the most talented people right there. My goodness MTM was absolutely stunning.

Such well-rounded entertainment - music, comedy, dancing. Today's stuff is so monotonous in comparison!
So true
They don’t make multitalented actors like this anymore. This is when acting was art
She was so very talented singing, dancing, and acting. It is so sad that this great performer's special talents we're never utilized in musicals and such. She needed a manager and agent who could exploit these talents and she would have been a much much bigger star today. 🤔🤗♥️
She was in Thoroughly Modern Milly with Julie Andrews.
Man, if only love that kind was around.
I’m 72 years old and I started watching the show when I was 11. It was my favorite. Loved the❤cast and the writing!
Wow. So very sad. I'm old enough to remember watching MTM show. RIP classy lady
I've always loved watching Mary Tyler Moore and I still do. R I P Mary. You won't be forgotten
I love it when she twirls. What a gorgeous pair of gams she had.
Her legs weren't bad either....
She was a beauty beyond compare.
They were truly great together!
i would go back and marry him if I could. 😍

If I were gay I would.
Omg me too !!!
I love how Mary uses just her face to subtly show how Laura slowly softens towards Rob
I love it! You can see the exact moment that she stops...well, hating him haha
Mary Tyler Moore, "wonderful is the only word for you, you wonderful you."
This was talent on TV. Unlike current crap!
She was so beautiful.
Man, they don't make shows like this anymore. I'm 36 and just started watching this show on Amazon prime
I am 22 and I just finished season 1 today.
I’m 33 my channel stays on this show lol
Effortless beauty. ❤
Tons of hard work went into achieving it of course, but when she performed, it was effortless.
Still Loving after all these years! Just lovely!
It would be a dream come true if I met them!😍😄❤️❤️❤️💕I love them both! Great actor and actress!!
Maria's Corner me too I love them both
Mary is dead though :(
The best💜💜 she reminds me of my mom
wonderful team
I love this scene and this wonderful song! It's my favourite scene of "The Dick van Dyke Show." Dick and Mary were such a beautiful couple!❤️🎶
One of my favorites! Also loved when you both tap danced at the jail. Amazing!
RIP, Ms. Tyler Moore.
UGH IM OBSESSED
She was so talented & Feminine .
Rip Mary Tyler Moore
@ 2:18, he totally missed her - but now in reality we will all miss her
That's right. It was a motivation. But if he really did that, man, that would hurt so bad.
Yes we do. And we miss such light, innocent times dearly.
So sweet.
And funny.
I'm glad I met you
Wonderful is the only word for you
You wonderful you
You wonderful you
I can't forget you
Isn't it grand you find what love can do
You wonderful you
You wonderful you
You're like a breath of spring (Tell me)
A whole new thing
Has happened (all the pretty things I wanna hear)
And without much ado
I look at you and (I can see that) THERE STANDS LOVE
my arms around you
Isn't that what your arms are really for (That's wonderful too)
That's wonderful too (I'm glad I found you)
Looking around I found there are no more like (you wonderful) YOU you-hoho
Remember, finders keepers
Losers, weepers
AND BECAUSE THATS TRUE
YOU'RE MINE NOW
YOU WONDERFUL YOUUUU
Ahhh! She was a ravishing beauty! 🤟🏼
Stunning indeed. Gorgeous.
Such a cute couple :)
Supreme talent that most people don't appreciate nowadays.

When TV was wonderful
Originally telecast on October 31, 1961.
Barry I. Grauman Thank you!! 😊
You're welcome!
When I was 10 yrs , 2 mths. & 1 day old . Still the most heart warming couple in TV history.
I tear up every time I hear this bc it reminds me of my Beloved Scott
Thank you! I was looking for just the song
Mary Tyler Moore is a very beautiful woman for actress wife of Rob Petrie beautiful couple!!!
I'm surprised Mary never got into singing like most female comedians of her time (Carol Burnett, for one.) She has a terrific voice, and great dancing skills to go along with them.
My favorite actor: Dick Van Dike😊
LOVE THIS !!!
Mary Tyler Moore was beautiful and talented 😍
Great song from "Summer Stock."
Music Harry Warren lyrics Mack Gordon from the Kelly-Garland film Summer Stock
Tv at its finest
Season 1 episode 06 😍
She could sing too.
So sweat!!!
They sang very good, as well as danced great. I just can't recall why she was so mad at him.She acted like she owned that stage.
Why do you hate me? Doesn't everyone?
Judy Garland and Gene Kelly’s version is amazing and much more romantic.
Did she actually do the singing here?
Yes but with playback. So they would say “Ms. Moore, Mr. Van Dyke, if you’d please 🎵” and then cut them in. The real question is did they have the technology for it or were the actors just out of breath LOL
Their singing was pre-recorded for this number.
Was this the first episode or was it a flashback?
A flashback. Rob and Laura were explaining to their son Richie how they met.
That's Gene Kellys Version
That's Gene Kellys Version
In the episode, someone said that they "stole the song from Gene Kelly" :D

Not the song, the dance number.
I'm sorry but it isn't possible that this young fresh faced beauty would later become Mary Richards.

@@edwardcricchio6106she was older and lost some weight. She had diabetes by then and maybe was drinking.
