Dick Van Dyke was always ages ahead of his time!! A true ORIGINAL Class Act!! I wish people had half as much class now as they did then..society is stale now.
I just don't understand how this man never trained professionally?! HOW does he move like that??? This was in 1960 it was well before his career kickstarted this is insane.. dick van dyke was born to be a performer
A dancer dances (to quote a song from ‘A Chorus Line’). Trained or not…one is a dancer, or one is not. If you’re not you can learn, to a point, but a natural dancer is always different.
I'm telling you, this dude is so awesome. Even at 92 years young, he is still the most awesomest dancing song dude in the world.
RRee Ceee mj popularised the movement of walking backwards in motion. dick was miming walking, but then principle is the same.
@@aisha02a it’s often called the Cloud Walk, at least in hip hop
@@aisha02a also it’s very different than the moonwalk. Harder actually, at least to do it well
I want Dick van Dyke to live for the next 100 years 😩 !
And still doing great even 4 years later at 96
This dude was so talented and he seemed so cool. That portion with him walking supposedly down the street, he was moonwalking way before Michael
A M E N
This was about a year before Dick Van Dyke began playing Rob Petrie. The pilot fo0r The Dick Van Dyke Show was filmed on January 20, 1961.
Oh my gosh. The way he moves is amazing!

Dick Van Dyke is one of best to ever do it. Period.
I ❤️ the absurdity and capriciousness from the entertainment industry of the late 50s and early sixties.
He's so fluid. What a gem.

Thank you for posting this; I'd forgotten how expressive and genuinely multi- talented he was.
Still is. At 95 he can out dance everyone!
Can't say enough about D.V.D.
I remember the 60's when we called people "squares" and drew that square in the air like Dick does!
The dancer is Broadway star Maria Karnilova
I see hints of his Stan Laurel impression. Thanks for digging this up
I saw this when it first aired. When the Dick Van Dyke show started, I already knew who he was.
That was awesome!😃
@3:41 that early moonwalk
Awesome, awesome video! Didn't expect max headroom at the end though lol.
Narrator sounds like Henry Fonda.
That's only because it was Henry Fonda.
It is.
I liked him, but I never knew how grear his dancing talent is😀
He would've been great as a silent film star.
He is a huge fan of Stan Laurel of Laurel and Hardy fame.
This is some weird shit. I love it.
And still doing great at 96
Genius. The dance instructor looks like Betty Davis, isn't but looks like.
Steven Torrey -That dance instructor looks like & is built waaay better than Betty Davis.
The dance instructor is Maria Karnilova. Henry Fonda is the narrator. Norman Jewison directed.
Goodness, dick's a lad in this one!
Let's dance😀😁😂😂🤣😎
You know, I am gonna let this dude dance in The Dancing Candy Committee!
8:04 when your mate fucks up the scene
That’s Henry Fonda doing the voice work.
Henry Fonda was the voice/ narrator
Before Michael Jackson
Thats the "moonwalk" if he just goes back a little as he does it!
It’s called the Cloud Walk
First woman dances like Elaine, on Seinfeld!
El Hombré's still got it!
Doing the moonwalk!
7:38 old school wall of death
this sounds a lot like Henry Fonda doing the narration
I see bits and pieces of this landmark program on UA-cam. Is there existing the whole thing as it aired?
It can be purchased online if you know where to look.
@@JHarder1000 Where?
@@wh4193 It is currently available from Rewatch Classic TV
7:53 makes me think of Fosse
tanning your own leather?? omg!
Get away from that wall and dance!
And amalgam of Ernie Kovacs and Bob Fosse
Rob Petrie was a writer but he was a better performer than Allan Brady.
