in the books, rudy didnt just stand there before paul hit him, in the books rudeus foresight eye couldnt understand what the hydra was doing for a second, it confused rudy. pauls experience knew what was coming, he hit rudeus out of the way. it was just lack of experience with that kind of enemy. it was rudeus first labyrinth
Man this episode is just... Bruh Like... - Rudeus lost a limb. - Paul died believing he was a bad father - Paul also did all this, pooled so many resources and effort, just to rescue a vegtable - Healing magic heals the body BUT NOT the mind. So they're literally gonna be forced to take care of a constant reminder of their failure - Technically, Rudeus lost both his parents. - Rudeus caused his father's death, both by disobeying the mangod and by slipping mid-battle - Rudeus is already very mentally weak and breaks easily. So imagine this situation man... - Also, when you think about it, he lost 4 parents now. - ALSO, HE NEEDS TO TELL ALL THIS TO HIS SISTERS, ONE OF WHOM RELIED ON HIM TO SAVE THEM
If he didn't go to save Zenith and stayed at home: -Roxy would die -Zenith would be in a crystal forever, since they couldn't beat the hydra without Rudy's plan -Everyone would die, because Paul wouldn't stop trying even though it seems impossible and his party would follow him to death -A very important point for the future of that world I can not talk about because of spoilers
Damn, going a bit too hard with the level of ignorance in some of those "points". On a side note, Paul was a bad father, and a bad many things. Literally shown in this very episode multiple times. One, by mindlessly and selfishly risking everyone's life by blindly rushing an unknown threat. Where they only barely got away with their lives, thanks to Roxy being incredibly skilled and experienced. There was 0 consideration and thought about anyone else from him. Just because of the way he died (and because people think he is bad ass warrior), it doesn't erase every other part of his character and everything else he has done in his life. It is a long list of messed up things, and things that would have ended horribly if it wasn't for others picking up the slack and pushing him hard to do better. "Disobeying" the man god... Do you think he is his slave or what? And you mindlessly trust anything he says? Alright. He didn't "slip" mid-battle. Unless you are consistent and say that others slipped mid-battle many times, and they all would be dead many times over if Rudeus wasn't there. Btw Elinalise's job was to defend him. Soo I guess it was her fault, huh? Or are we not gonna have the same standards cus she isn't called Rudeus. Damn, she causd Paul's death. He is a mage, with a normal body and normal reflexes, not a warrior. Fighting on the front lines. No other mage would be even remotely capable to do half of what Rudeus did. (due to future sight and due to him training his body seriously for many years, abnormal for a mage) That attitude of "he caused his father's death" is toxic as hell. Because he's not all perfect and all powerful. In an extremely dangerous, very fast paced battle, where any moment could have been the last for many of them. Which was shown several times, barely making it. Usually only thanks to someone else's help and back up. People like to create their own versions of events in their heads too much. Acting like he was randomly frozen there for 1 minute. It all happened in seconds.
Bro imagine how Norn is gonna feel when they get home Her brother comes back with a missing hand, a dead dad, and a mom with brain damage And she was the one who sent him
I really hated it when the anime shows Rudy was not focused, when the issue on the novel was that HE WAS TOO FOCUSED analyzing the last remaining head. He knew something was coming, the demon eye was showing him something. But he cannot make sense of what is happening, right until his dad kicked him. Anyways, Studio Bind wishes all of us Happy Fathers Day XD
Best Happy Father's Day 🗿 Honestly i laugh, the amount of flags that this anime throw, made it so obvious, and the fact its fathers day is what makes more funny and the mom turning to a vegetable was the cherry on the top. Man i'm a psycho XD
@@cawcawTVMany people has this misunderstanding because the anime didn't showed it well but in the novel it was clearly told that at that time the hydra started moving all his cut heads in a rage mode so rudy locked his demon eye on that and because there were many heads in his vision he was focusing to much on that in wait of something coming from there but the hydra was fucking smart and he tricked rudy. So rudy wasn't spacing out but the hydra tricked him
He didn't lose focus, he saw the hydra using the 8 headless necks to try and hit them, still using the demon eye, it was a mess in his field of vision, he got confused, you can't blame him for it at all.
Probably one of the better death scenes I've seen in a minute. I especially love how no one even knows Paul died until after, so there's no interruption mid-fight for the characters to cry out and the boss just stops and let's them mourn for no reason like so many other shows do. No, it's just keep going and don't stop, which is a lot more realistic.
I don't think that last time where Paul kicked Rudy out of the way was Rudy losing focus so much as him needing backup all the way through the fight. Elinalise had to block for Rudy twice already, and one time got sliced for her trouble. Rudy just isn't fast enough for this fight. Also, if I remember correctly from the light novel (it's been a few years), the hydra had realized that Rudy was its biggest threat, and it had started to specifically target him both with its remaining head(s) and the decapitated necks. There's no manga art for this yet, and (iirc) the light novel didn't draw this scene. That said, even though I don't think you're right that Rudy is responsible for Paul's death, I think for sure that Rudy will think he is.
Paul was DPS warrior and acted appropriately Rip. 26:56 Yeah he celebrated it in his head, that there was one head left. Which caused him to drop the ball figuratively speaking. I'd have massive regret at my actions at the end of the fight, if I was Rudy. He basically spaced out causing to Paul to sacrificed himself to save his son. He now he has a huge amount of responsibility on his shoulders as the head of the house. Happy father's Day!
This is something they skipped, probably you will see it on a video but Rudy was 100 lock in, he was never distracted, the demon eye play him dirty apart from him looking for the others
I love when Authors have the balls to pull moves like this and not like certain others who get death threats if decides to kill their most popular character. Just look at Harada who gave a proper end to his ojii-san
Although this is CD Drama material that wasn't in the light novel, I want to leave it here. God, I'm crying; this enhances the regret so much. Paul: Everyone... has a face like they've already seen this. It's like someone died. Rudy: ...Father? Huh? Why are you falling? Huh? Why... why don't you have a lower body? Huh? Paul: Ah... so that's what it is. It was me, yeah. Before the last neck approached Rudy, I pushed him away. And then, instead of Rudy, it lunged at me. The lower half of my body was eaten by the hydra in an instant. I wish it weren't so, but... healing magic won't work here. Rudy: Why? Paul: My vision is starting to darken... I can't breathe... I can't even speak. Am I dying? At least... to see... that Zenith is alive. Not only that... Norn and Aisha. I want to see them again so badly... Are you going to school...? Have you grown...? Lilia... what kind of face will she have? Even if it's a nuisance... will she cry? Damn it... I'm full of regret... I don't want to die... and yet... there's still so much... I wanted to do... Rudy: Father... Paul: But... it's still better than Rudy dying... think positively...
kinda shame they didin't show magic weapons and armor that were strewn next to the heart of the labyrinth. Ie. the blue crystal. Gonna be rich as fuck now boyyyyyyyy.
Rudy actually sucks at healing magic, so we see him chant the full spell when using healing magic (unlike when he casts other spells, Rudy even casts very high tier water and fire and earth spells without any incantations) and that too he has a really low proficiency in that, quite unlike his mother, Zenith is actually quite good at support based magic and healing magic if I remember right Paul may not be the most emotionally stable person in the room but on field he is the coolest and most dependable ever, but sorry my man-you raised too many death flags, now rest in peace

What a moment for Father's Day
in the novel rudy got confused by hydra's movement that's why
It was clearly not Rudeus' fault... you know... the blame lies on Norn
